Sadly, accordion is no more. Long story short - I had to leave it behind because we had no more room in a recent move. At least you see the first bits....!!!
@@YachtMovers As others have stated, your starting vid was brilliant and it is sad that you weren't able to finish it up properly. I've inherited a 12 bass piano accordion that was left in an attic for too long..... 25 reeds are rattling around inside..... maybe I'll pick up where you left off...
On one of the switches the A key next to the F# on the draw does not sound for me, but the push does. The same thing was happening to one of the higher note keys on the push, but the draw does on another switch. But the higher note worked itself out. The A near the F# is not sadly. Assuming it will need to be worked on. I was told it had not been played for years, before I bought it. Probably have other issues that I will find once I open it, but hopefully nothing major. One bass key sticks for sure though and needs to be manually pried up. I am hoping a sanding of the hole or a slight adjustment to the rod will suffice for now.
I paid around £23 for new self adhesive felt, some new vinyl ,to replace some of the old leathers, and the wax sticks from CGM. I cocked up the waxing so need to do this again and then I have to re-tune all the reeds, so not a quick fix by any means. Good luck.
Glue? You use wax. Any accordion repair shop will sell it to you, or you can buy online. I used sticks of wax from CGM - see starting credits - melted, and used a paint brush to apply.
It's like listening to David Attenborough, but for the Accordion.
Oh, so curious to hear this accordion after all repairs and of course the waxing process as well.
Thank you for the video.
Hi Richard, loved this--have you got a part 2?
I'd love to see the second part. Very good info.
"Yes, do look for the second video, it's all there..."
If this is British humour, you got me.
1:15 dick's back in bankok getting his pipes oiled up by the local harmonica hussy.. no time for part 2.

@@YachtMovers Thank you for this short video! It's helped a lot with an accordion restoration project I'm currently working on.
@@zak8953 Hi Zac. Glad to help. I had to abandon the remaining video because of a house move, but this was a good start.

Hy! You make Part 2 ?
I'm actually trying to do this myself and was wondering how much time and money went in this fix...
