I like that honesty. Most people stay in their comfort zone during these tutorials making it look as they already completely mastered the shown skill/technique. It's nice that you put yourself on the same page as us trying this routine.
Im personally trying these metronome exercises right now and im not sure which is a good amount of times to practice so im gonna go 3 times from 60 to 100bpm then 5 then 10 etc, hoping i can gain some big speed and strengjt
I myself need to get back to these exercises. I stopped doing them many months ago and even stop doing blast beats in general and I can feel myself struggling to get back to the speed I had in this video 😅 for me I would just watch something and kinda zone out while doing it and just go until I felt that good burn in my arms from the exercise. Give it a rest for a while and then get back at it later. Short bursts of doing it until you feel the burn is pretty much the goal though.
its better to spend a lot more time getting the perfect timing, dynamics and relaxation on the slowest tempo, getting to a point of burning hands in my opinion is the wrong goal
@@kimseniorb if you don’t feel a burn from lactic acid buildup in your muscles, they will not develop. Youre supposed to do these exercises with good timing/dynamics/technique. But youre supposed to feel a burn, yes. Derek Roddy, George Kollias, many folks say the same. Just a little like lifting, your strength/endurance/speed wont develop if your muscles dont. Good technique is required to make it as easy as possible, but when youre reaching for faster and faster speeds, you do have to condition (aka build) muscles to get there and stay there
A little burn, yes. But people might misinterpret that. It is super important not to overshoot and cramp up, as this will hinder your ability to practice the right movement. Drumming is not necessarily about building muscle but rather getting your movement to be as efficient as possible. I would recommend always staying shy of the point where you can't keep up with your metronome
@@Bemenhorst different muscles are used depending on the speed so it really has to be pushed to the brink to get better. Economy of motion comes through a subconscious mechanism in our brain, over time. Same thing for the feet.
@@zacharydwight7380 maybe I didn’t explain my point well, but you are basically agreeing with what I said. Pushing to the brink is beneficial. Pushing over is bad. Same as in strength training, beginners don’t know their brink and therefore might misinterpret the cues of „feel a burn“ and overshoot. That’s all I am saying, because I made the same mistake. And yes, the movement becomes more efficient subconsciously, however this can only happen, if you practice the correct movement which doesn’t happen if you cramp up. It’s the same when people try to bench way more than they should and „cheat“ the rep, because they recruit additional muscles

Dope lesson thanks man

Love this!! Thank you ❤
Nice video man, hey, at the bonus tip part, did u use fingers or wrists right there? I'm really pushing myself to do that drumroll, and even faster
Fingers mostly with just a little wrist. The faster the more fingers for the most part
can you explain fingers vs wrists arms etc. I am 48 trying to learn
