LCH is a light gunship which was designed mainly for ops in the Himalayas...hence it's high altitude ceiling and higher speed. For anti-tank warfare in the deserts or plains, we have the Apache.

LCH at present Avatar is designed for India Specific Requirement specially high Altitude Application. Electronic Warfare Suites and other Electronic Warfare facilities are World Class. Like Tezas, LCH will be most sought after Helicopter Gunship. It is just matter of Time.
Features-wise, the two helicopters seem to be more-or-less the same, and the LCH costs a third of the other! Hence, LCH is obviously a clear winner - by far - here. Hats off to the Indian engineers and scientists for achieving this. In general, this is true of all the LATEST Indian defense equipment. They seem to be roughly equal to comparable Western equipment in features, while costing around a third (sometimes less). The only problem seems to be that aggression is somewhat lacking in the Indian marketing campaign. India should start promoting its products aggressively as THE BEST in the world on a features-and-quality-for-price basis.

I know that the T129 Helicopter is built to NATO standards and has been proven in combat in multiple occasions. Usually the European and US helicopters in this class cost around $60mil - $80mil and the T129 is around $50mil, a bit cheaper, but has same engines, avionics as the others. When I saw the price tag of the Indian LCA helicopter I was shocked, let's hope it will be dependable and perform well in combat!

T129 is 3 times costlier than LCH. The advantages considering the triple cost is negligible. This is a deal breaker. I would go for LCH with heavier payload, service ceiling and crash survivability.

Both the helicopters are good and suitable for their respective geographical condition. As far as LCH is concerned it is specifically made for high altitude regions for Mountain Warfare in the Himalayas, that's why it has the highest service ceiling amongst all attack helicopters in the world, and for the desert of Rajasthan. So, it will operate in conditions having temperatures from -40 to +50 degree celsius. Both IN & TR are doing well in their respective defence R&D, and have a bright future. As far as export potential is concerned it largely depends on the diplomatic and soft power of the country. Thanks.
I do not understand why India chose Turkey as a competitor in its defense industry projects. India and Turkey have different defense needs and understandings. Turkey is a NATO country in a geography full of 1st class enemies. India is a third world country. Why do you constantly compare these two countries with very different defense needs? The Indian government has started with the production and procurement of military weapons in India over the last 5-10 years. LCH and LCA are the very first projects.. just wait for 10 more years and you will see Indians exporting these... I agree that both LCH and LCA will see improvements both in terms of Design and Technology as they receive the feedback... The Indian defense industry is 15-20 years behind when compared to countries like US as the private investments were not allowed back in 1990's.. Everything changed with the start of 21st Century.. Lch is amazing. T129 is a bit oudated and a bit expensive but the t129 has already proven itself through numerous battles, so i’d go with the t129 for now. Lch needs to prove itself more.

Both helicopters are state of the art vehicles. The T-129's design is actually pretty outdated, but Turkey still wanted to use it (Agusta-Westland's A129 Mangusta's design) because of the urgent need of attack choppers since Turkey is conducting many counter-terrorism operations both in and outside of its borders (Syria, Iraq). I think that's why they did not be able to put that much work into it. And the second thing is, TAI has already began the developments of T-629 and T-929. T-129 ATAK is lightweight, T-629 is mid-size and T-929(nicknamed ATAK 2) is an heavy chopper. Also they're designing T-629 as a electric-unmanned variant and classic-style manned variant. T-629 still has a long way to go, but T-929 will make it's first flight in 2023.

One thing on T-129 ATAK steps more forward than anything else. İt's COMBAT PROVEN. At the same time it has been upgraded twice already (LCH will definetly be upgraded after Army requirements based on experience). The difference between the first and 90th ATAK is huge.
Mangusta is perfect for anti tank ops in the plains. It won't survive in the Himalayas where gusts of winds end up knocking fully loaded c-130j's into the mountainside.

ATAK's might do a real damage due to their superior weapons package against ground forces. HAL LCH has the edge when it comes to fighting on high altitude. So I guess both of them have their uses and specific roles. That's why India purchased the US made Apache's for supporting Indian Army and given the LCH to Airforce.

Worlds toughest user testers are indian armed forces. If LCH is accepted by indian armed forces, it means it has gone through minimum 5 years of rigorous testign with the intent to not onboard that in services, but if LCH won the appreciation of Indian army . I have to warn you about one thing. The characteristics of the weapons produced in Turkey are determined not by the maximum, but by the most ideal situations that can happen in an operation. For example, instead of the maximum range that an air defense missile can reach, it is determined by calculating the distances shortened by the maneuvers it will make against the air threat. An example. The range of the fortress block 0 missile is calculated as 100 km, although the maximum range is 150 km.

you haven't added the latest information about 16 Anti Tank missiles installing capacity of LCH that has recently been added. These missiles could either be indigenously produced NAG (Air launched version) missiles with 7 kms range or US offered Hell Fire missiles.
These 2 machines are not comparable. The LCH is built for high altitude combat in the Himalayas against China. For normal fighting conditions in plains, India has the AH 64-E Apache.
Anything can be designed to the top notch technology, but in real combat you need to look at practicality. T129 has already proven itself in many combats around world.

Atak is combat proven and is being used almost 10 years by a NATO member country. I think the cost prices are also wrong. That is not possible that much price difference.m between two coppers. Both are meant for vastly different terrains and circumstances. Moreover, t129 has seen combat while lch hasn't seen any. So, a comparison is out of place
Climb rate, range, speed etc... are minor properties. What makes a helicopter superior is avionics, sensors, munitions, how accurate to shoot on target, radars, night vision and thermal cameras in dark operations and how pilot feel confortable in helicopter during combat like whole control is accesable, fast and accuarate to use. how the integrated systems are compatible.
All that you mentioned doesnt matter a bit when you can't reach the battlefield in the first place. i.e. The Himalayas. Imagine the enemy having attack helicopters and all you have is ground troops. Plus LCH is just introduced. Its upgrades will make it far more lethal than the one you are preaching so much. get some braincells.

By the time the LCH reaches 76 helicopters it would correct many kinks, and new iterations would likely be quite advanced. The real comparison that is being made is hidden in the back ground, and it is the Apache, and each helicopter is measured against this model, by noting which of these two two is closer to this high bar. This triangulation should have been made more obvious.
To be honest, the Turkish T129 Atak helicopter is the best in the world among light weight helicopters. It incorporates the latest and superior avionics technologies. It has a very high combat readiness rate beyond Apaches. If you examine the US war in Iraq, you can see that the duty rate of Apaches is extremely low. While this is not a problem for a producing country like the USA, it will be a huge problem for second-user countries.

The reason why the price of the T-129 is so high is the American engine it uses. this engine was originally made for the american comanche ghost helicopter ( Boeing/Sikorsky RAH-66 Comanche ) but the project was canceled because the helicopter was too expensive and unnecessary It is quieter and burns less than other helicopter engines. I think it's the best helicopter engine ever made in the world. Also, many people said that the Indian helicopter works at very high altitudes and the other one works in low places, on the contrary, this helicopter has always been used in mountainous areas. fully adapted to the geography of Turkey. It's too early to talk about the Indian helicopter. because the t-129 has now undergone its third modernization. when india produces more numbers of these helicopters after about 5 years the comparison will be made easier

I'm not going to side with any country here cause both helicopters are build for different purpose. LCH of india is made for light combat and weights pretty light too cause india needed a combat capable helicopter to fight in low oxygen and mountain region like kargil,siachel,ladakh. india also have world class helicopters like Apache and mi-24 but the problem with them that they can't fight in cold and mountain region and most of the time they are useless like in kargil war 1999 indian when army had huge problem with mi-24 heavy combat helicopter so they had to used a modified verison of transport helicopters and LCH is also the world's only helicopter that can fight in siachen which world's highest battlefield while T 129 is better in plain and desert areas.

India must have sold these choppers to many different countries till today. But, it did not happen. I dont think that the price comparison is done on equal terms. That much diffrerence does not seem realistic. Yet, it is true that there are significant price differences, even if you buy a car, relying on the manufacturer company. If you buy a German or USA made engine, engine itself may be more expensive than the whole car of another brand. T129 has NATO parts and proven qualifications in addition to attractive design in shape. Well, as a Turk my views have a bias. LCH Prachand is the best when it comes to mountain warfare. It was specially designed for the enourmous Himalayan front of India! In open areas, a flying tank like the Apache would be more suitable, though LCH Prachand can be thrown in higher numbers due to its cheaper price and economical operations!

The only problem seems to be that aggression is somewhat lacking in the Indian marketing campaign.

I know that the T129 Helicopter is built to NATO standards and has been proven in combat in multiple occasions. Usually the European and US helicopters in this class cost around $60mil - $80mil and the T129 is around $50mil, a bit cheaper, but has same engines, avionics as the others. When I saw the price tag of the Indian LCA helicopter I was shocked, let's hope it will be dependable and perform well in combat!

T129 is 3 times costlier than LCH. The advantages considering the triple cost is negligible. This is a deal breaker. I would go for LCH with heavier payload, service ceiling and crash survivability.

Both the helicopters are good and suitable for their respective geographical condition. As far as LCH is concerned it is specifically made for high altitude regions for Mountain Warfare in the Himalayas, that's why it has the highest service ceiling amongst all attack helicopters in the world, and for the desert of Rajasthan. So, it will operate in conditions having temperatures from -40 to +50 degree celsius. Both IN & TR are doing well in their respective defence R&D, and have a bright future. As far as export potential is concerned it largely depends on the diplomatic and soft power of the country. Thanks.

The Indian government has started with the production and procurement of military weapons in India over the last 5-10 years. LCH and LCA are the very first projects.. just wait for 10 more years and you will see Indians exporting these... I agree that both LCH and LCA will see improvements both in terms of Design and Technology as they receive the feedback... The Indian defense industry is 15-20 years behind when compared to countries like US as the private investments were not allowed back in 1990's.. Everything changed with the start of 21st Century.. The Indian companies are just learning to walk...soon they will start to run.... we did it in IT industry, we sure can do in Defense industry..

Both helicopters are state of the art vehicles. The T-129's design is actually pretty outdated, but Turkey still wanted to use it (Agusta-Westland's A129 Mangusta's design) because of the urgent need of attack choppers since Turkey is conducting many counter-terrorism operations both in and outside of its borders (Syria, Iraq). I think that's why they did not be able to put that much work into it. And the second thing is, TAI has already began the developments of T-629 and T-929. T-129 ATAK is lightweight, T-629 is mid-size and T-929(nicknamed ATAK 2) is an heavy chopper. Also they're designing T-629 as a electric-unmanned variant and classic-style manned variant. T-629 still has a long way to go, but T-929 will make it's first flight in 2023.

Both are meant for vastly different terrains and circumstances. Moreover, t129 has seen combat while lch hasn't seen any. So, a comparison is out of place
Climb rate, range, speed etc... are minor properties. What makes a helicopter superior is avionics, sensors, munitions, how accurate to shoot on target, radars, night vision and thermal cameras in dark operations and how pilot feel confortable in helicopter during combat like whole control is accesable, fast and accuarate to use. how the integrated systems are compatible.
All that you mentioned doesnt matter a bit when you can't reach the battlefield in the first place. i.e. The Himalayas.

To be honest, the Turkish T129 Atak helicopter is the best in the world among light weight helicopters. It incorporates the latest and superior avionics technologies. It has a very high combat readiness rate beyond Apaches. If you examine the US war in Iraq, you can see that the duty rate of Apaches is extremely low. While this is not a problem for a producing country like the USA, it will be a huge problem for second-user countries.

The reason why the price of the T-129 is so high is the American engine it uses. this engine was originally made for the american comanche ghost helicopter ( Boeing/Sikorsky RAH-66 Comanche ) but the project was canceled because the helicopter was too expensive and unnecessary It is quieter and burns less than other helicopter engines. I think it's the best helicopter engine ever made in the world. Also, many people said that the Indian helicopter works at very high altitudes and the other one works in low places, on the contrary, this helicopter has always been used in mountainous areas. fully adapted to the geography of Turkey.

like indian helicopter collection computer. each piece is from another country. The only engine of the Turkish helicopter is American production. the rest of the helicopter is all 100% Turkish made; including avionics and weapons. Next year, it will fly with a Turkish-made engine. It's like comparing a mercedes to an indian tata car. Russian weapons are ineffective against Turkish weapons.

I'm not going to side with any country here cause both helicopters are build for different purpose. LCH of india is made for light combat and weights pretty light too cause india needed a combat capable helicopter to fight in low oxygen and mountain region like kargil,siachel,ladakh. india also have world class helicopters like Apache and mi-24 but the problem with them that they can't fight in cold and mountain region and most of the time they are useless like in kargil war 1999 indian when army had huge problem with mi-24 heavy combat helicopter so they had to used a modified verison of transport helicopters and LCH is also the world's only helicopter that can fight in siachen which world's highest battlefield while T 129 is better in plain and desert areas.
Wrong. T 129 mostly using in high altitude mountains in Turkey. This handsome can operates all conditions. But of course Himalayas are something different.

India must have sold these choppers to many different countries till today. But, it did not happen. I dont think that the price comparison is done on equal terms. That much diffrerence does not seem realistic.
Yet, it is true that there are significant price differences, even if you buy a car, relying on the manufacturer company. If you buy a German or USA made engine, engine itself may be more expensive than the whole car of another brand. T129 has NATO parts and proven qualifications in addition to attractive design in shape. Well, as a Turk my views have a bias. Nevertheless, this much price diffrence needs an explanation from an expert in the field.

There is not even a competition. The t129 is a dedicated attack helicopter. While the LCH is bassically a recon helicopter. Its a good light attack helicopter with its own up and downsides. But combat wise they are not comparable
The weight category is different but they can be compared to a certain extent. But both have been designed according to their country's own needs
LCH is combat helicopter for high altitude...such as kargil ladak and Siachen

Ayrıca nedenini bilmiyorum ama takip ettiğim kadarı ile Hindistan hava kuvvetlerinde hava araçları ile ilgili çok fazla kaza kırım yaşanıyor. Silahın niteliği de önemli ama bence bir ordu öncelikle silahlarını doğru ve etkili kullanabilmeli. (Turkish)

LCH Prachand is the best when it comes to mountain warfare. It was specially designed for the enourmous Himalayan front of India! In open areas, a flying tank like the Apache would be more suitable, though LCH Prachand can be thrown in higher numbers due to its cheaper price and economical operations!

There is a very serious price difference between them. The T129 pays the price for meeting NATO standard requirements. The only helicopter that has proven itself in the field is the T129
