1975 Volvo 240 station wagon, with a manual 4-speed transmission and final use of Volvo's dead-set reliable engine, the B20!
With only 73,000 miles, this 245 has endured decades of sun and weather damage, but the paint and body held up pretty good! She fired up without much fuss last episode, and we're hoping the drive will go as smoothly!

Keep saving those 240’s David! Don’t let them get crushed!
You know he’s a disrespectful buyer right? Lol .. kinda ruins the channel when you know he isn’t a good genuine person just selfish and mean to old people selling Volvos.
@@hellofurend then why are you watching his channel?
@@hellofurend do you see the condition of the cars when he gets them? They aren't worth 6k. Lol
@Tim Lyons He probably had an old Volvo that he thought was worth thousands but needed everything fixed.
From sitting 18 years to doing a skid ? This Aussie bloke approves 🇦🇺🤙🏼
Nice job saving it David. I found a 1987 volvo 745 with only 18.000 Swedish "mil" in a Bush here in Sweden 🇸🇪. I love that car to pieces. 😊
Love, n the bee gees, not a bad old wagon the car that is a bit of elbow grease and a good ole hawk tua on that thing and it's golden ya get me.. Keep on keep, n kids
Enjoyed the Tame Impala
I still enjoy Fram's slogan from back in the day, "Before you slam it, Fram it."
Keep saving those Volvos, David. These are awesome videos. 🚗
Going to miss having you as my “neighbor”. Best of luck in LA.
You really really make me regret selling my 86 245 twenty years ago. My Dad had kept it in fantastic shape and it just needed a new clutch cable….
"Don't be nervous... be scared"
Words to live by!
You should see a parkinglot here in sweden. Volvos all over the place 👍
The rest of the world is led to believe that all cars are now electric in Sweden?
@@johnharrison4817 no no no! hybrid is popular but all i can say is that you can se a 1980-1990s volvo every day here :D in the summer time there's even more of them
@@Anton_MotorMer thanks for confirming that, I can rest easy now with my old 240 wagon 😎
its so nice to see this old volvos I'm a sweed so i have be around volvo's al my life :-) and here you can find them everywhere :-) but i think not too long for even we have start to like them
The roof rack alone makes it vintage...
It is awesome to see how you got the 1975 240 going right away,
Missed seeing you and your cars David
Watch out for a seized up pressure relief cap valve in the expansion tank , they can blow out core plugs if the system pressure gets too high , can also be a sign of a tired out head gasket leaking into the cooling system .
Well said...I used to poke a small hole in the top of the coolant cap.. because Volvo runs higher coolant pressure... and freeze plugs are a problem... but not terrible fix..
Engine needs Valve adjustment ever other service
No offense 1975 is the worst Year
Should have looked at the 1978 Volvo 245.....hard to find
Surprised steering rack isn't leaking
Such an awesome car!
Your videos always inspire me to go out and start tinkering around with my Volvos... thank you for that! 🙂
One of the best videos ever seen!!! This is magic.
I have room for Ivy when you move out here....😁
My wife and I absolutely love New Mexico.. I have the Zia on my 88 245 😎
Nice rescue !
I bought a 1977 245 flathood back in Nov 2021, and my Volvo mechanic friend is doing a manual swap and B230F +T conversion, new springs & shocks, larger older gold IPD sway bars, panhard, S60R front and rear brakes. It's got a very straight body and almost new looking interior. White with Red seats, Red door cards & Red carpet !
Still need a small tach gauge (or a Rally cluster ;).
every volvo is worth saving man those are great cars
I had that wagon! Drove it 340k until rust got it and sold the engine and tranny to another guy.
Great job.
Great work David! Love seeing your Volvo content
Best of luck, David! Thanks for all the entertaining Volvo content!
Does anything look cooler than a classic Volvo? I can't imagine. Lovely video!
So happy to find another volvo enthusiast in ABQ. good video! I have a white 740 GLE :>
Moving home after so many years, happy memories....I wish you and Sarah well keep the Excellent vids coming David.
It's shocking to see the garage bare. I'm glad you documented so many hours spent in it. Hope the transition is a good one.
Great job !!............ Bless You & Your Team !!
Ooooh what a nice video!! And the 240....incredible! Here in Italy there are maybe 20 of those cars, it is swedish but in my mind she is the real American Dream!!! All the best for you!!!
Nice... Really good video.. Have a great new year.
Volvo's are awesome.
Love it David !! Slayyy
Awesome video.
Love it - great stuff
Wish you all the best
Cool videos, and cool Volvos! Was wondering how it is possible you can use all that cool music?! (I see a lot of youtubers use other music)
Anyhoe, keep up the good work!
I have spare headlamps , a new wing , rear hinges , lights , wiper motor , Dials etc , never got rid of the spares , even though my 1975 Green 245 is long gone , lol .
Cool and evil 245..If you still looking for a name I think you should go for Christine ;-)
Hi, me again. WOW I am loving these vids. As I mentioned before, totally cool that I stumbled upon your channel. Must be a damn shame to be leaving that house with an awesome garage / workspace and those mountain views.
Bring it back to LA! Somebody will snap that 245 up since it’s smog exempt in California. 1976 and up is still on the hook for smog. Hell, I’d be tempted to buy it just so I don’t have to worry about smog tests anymore.
Cool! Dr. Martens!
my first car was a volvo 240 from 76 with b20 engine.
We are just about to start on a 1975 164e "barn find" - 27 K miles and NO rust...
I’m hoping you’ll have it ready for the VCOA national meet this year!
very nice volvo :)
I can't believe that i was born when that volvo was parked and forgotten.
I'd love to show you my 242 turbo if you're still in town
Hi You 2, am doing one of these myself, welding a back end at mo. Hope to have it for summer. Like that green colour o yours. Can't you have a garage at new place? Am in Yorkshire, UK. Kinda cold outside underneath a motor! PV544 is daily drive while 240 on ramps. Cheers, Mark.
What a nice swedish bric, looking for one here in France and found one in good condition, he wants 8000 euros, have to take à closer look.
Please find a way to keep working on Fun Gus. These videos are awesome!
Thanks, Gus!
Wooo... when i was 6yers i was able to go with kinde of this car here in sweden with my teacherö
Teacher. Still lovet her😄😄
Man, the patina on that one. Here in Europe the patina is more like "rustina"
One of the front brake lines is linked to the rear wheel. they have dual brake circuits. Probably explains why the rear is not moving.
First of all in '75 the wagons were not 240's. They were 245's. The last digit was indicative of how many doors. This was changed in the 80's and they were only called 240 no matter the number of doors. They were all "200's" to indicate they were no longer the "100" series that includes the 142, 144, 145, and similar 164. Having had a '75 I wished I had a 164 because the 245 could barely get out of its way. Years later I drove an 82 242 stick and it was quite a bit lighter and had more pep. The later 240's had even more pep with a different cam, exhaust, and fuel injection. I wished I had kept my '75 and put in a 302. I had read in automobile magazine someone had put a 289 in in the 70's so I knew it was possible. Later they were putting in 350 Chevy's and bigger. They could definitely get out of their own way. The '75 Volvo brakes were in a diagonal circuit. They were designed so if you lost any one caliper you still had an opposite axle and the other side. So if you lost the left rear you still had the right rear and the front..a triangular circuit. I don't remember the exact sequence but it wasn't like a similar year domestic. Later on the domestics adopted many of Volvo's safety features. In 75 the mechanical injection had a low pressure in tank pump and a pump just forward of the tank that was higher pressure and the fuel filter was on the firewall near the fuel accumulator. It's been a lot of years since I've worked on a '75 Volvo B20F but I still remember. A Canadian B20E model would have been nice to have, as well. They didn't have our emissions and they made more go power. The nice thing about Volvo's back then was the tall skinny tires. Great for snow! Mine was surefooted like a mountain goat.
Greetings Mr. Bello! I'm looking for a set of front seats for a '67 122s 2-door, do you have any ideas on where to find a set? I'm in the SF bay area. Thanks!
My 1990 240 has a starting problem that sounds exactly like yours at 8:20 but it gets over it and runs fine after missing terribly for a like 20/30 seconds, especially when it's cold out (florida cold). I've cleaned the maf and the rest of the intake, replaced the distributor rotor and cap (they were bad), and right now I have the injectors out and one was missing the plastic cap and the rest were cracked. Idk if this could be the issue so Id like to know want to know what you think it could be
Good luck passing smog
Send me the dash carpet 😍😍😍
And we thought the Corvair was unsafe at any speed....lol
It'd be a heck of a lot better if those fandangled dangly things on the B pillar were used as intended.
I love the XC 90. Remind me, please, what year it is? IIRCC, it is an '08 V8 but memory is probably wrong. Make and model please, I'd like to see if I could find one near home on Vancouver Island. Cheers , I look forward to your next adventures.
That’s a V8 sport in passion red if my eyes are not deceiving me! Fairly rare cars, wouldn’t surprise me if you had to look in several states.
2007. I love it every day a little more
the only car that is built over the heat pack and if the fan lays of uou must take apart the hole interior to fix it...even the 140 has simular funktion.

Хороший Вольво,но купе лучше...🤷😀😀👍
After ww2 a lot of Italians went to Sweden to work and many of them later went home a few years later with a Volvo and a blond.🤣
What year is the Volvo XC90 ?
Is there a Volvo 740..??
Hi, nice video, is your wife/girlfriend from the states? Like your volvos, i.m from sweden🙂
Was someone on cocaine putting the first few minutes of this video together ? Or at least sugar ha ha.
I would love to see you build a volvo wagon with tesla drivetrain. It would be a perfect daily drive for LA. You would get massive views too. Great stuff🙏👊
🤣
Way too many cars. Focus on one. Save it and then move to the next.
Nobody needs this sort of negativity in their life. 😅
How annoying music:( bye!
