Throughout all my years of playing sports I always had overweight middle aged men telling me to run laps and sprints and whatnot. I always had “you couldn’t even do this” in my mind. One year I had a coach that ran with us for every sprint and lap. Honestly our team felt more motivated.

For most NBA stars though, they may have the talent and physical ability but everyone's more concerned about teaming up with the other superfriend and load-managing their way to an easy ring. this man's FLU GAME changed my life. sounds stupid? no. I got mostly As in college because of that single game. I didn't buy his clothes or shoes (I did so later) and wasn't into pop culture but I was too hungry for a role model and in that game, I saw fire and anger that he won't go down. I was always sick living in the projects due to asthma and around rats (yes we had rats in our apt.) and just needed a spark. I already had the fire to do something special. I have a good life today because I took those lessons in that game and used them in every endeavor in life. mj will never know it and I mean nothing to him, yes I know that already. but it had such a huge impact on me. wish I could tell the world how valuable a MALE role model is for a boy (I was 20 or so at the point). I do not love Michael nor think he is god. I just never forgot the traits I saw play out in that game. he just happened to be the one to show them to me. I can't be the only one either. I am sure other moments inspired others but this had the biggest impact on my life by far.
