@@s.patrick6136 The writing started getting bad in season 3 when they started doing movie of the week episodes even with the original cast, the show started to get really bad.
The movie ripoff of the week then Turing Quinn from an accidental wanderer into "The Chosen One" really did it. The final season felt like it tried to turn this around, to varying levels of success, but that finale...ugh.
One of the complaints in later seasons of the series is that the writers would just look for whatever was popular and movies at our culture and do an episode about it. Jurassic Park comes out we got a Dinosaur episode. Mad Max is popular we get a road warrior episode. Etc.
@@jasontoddman7265 The tremors episode was actually somewhat decent. It was a rip off of an Xfiles episode. The majority of Season 3 episodes were terrible though.
@@Romans8-9 Never said it was bad; just that it was a rip-off. To me not all rip-offs are bad. I like the Orville for instance. Didn't know that about X-Files though as I never watched that show. Definitely with you on your opinion of season 3. The show got steadily worse all the time, sad to say; especially when John Rhys Davies left the cast. I never even watched the final season past the first episode; it was just too far gone after Jerry O'Connell left the show too. I'd have thought being picked up by the Syfy Channel would improve it; instead it just turned into pure garbage.
And the way they completely did a 360 on the Wade character. They changed her into a weak and whiney character, only to benefit the Maggie character. It became so sad to watch and 100% cringey.
This is a very detailed explanation as to why I only enjoy the the first two seasons. Always wanted to hear the back story about sliders and as usual, you created a fine presentation here.
I only acknowledge the first three seasons, mostly anything before the Professor goes. The two SciFi Channel seasons were about dopplegangers as far as I'm concerned. I support a reboot if we can get the originals home finally.
Last year I've written the Virtual Season 6 of Sliders - 13 episodes with the big finale :) You can read these episodes on my website - the link is on my profile :)
Filmed in Vancouver, and Quinn worked at a long ago now closed computer store , Cambie and 10th ? My favourite episode a brief slide to a world where a giant Tsunami is heading towards them.

Season 1&2 dvd arrived in the post this morning. loved this show when it first aired. what I'm hearing from this is I shouldn't track down the later series dvd's.
He had a main wooden gate at his homes entrance. Everytime you would open it the door hinges would creak a certain way. Every world sounded different so he was looking for his homes creak sound. Then he could go inside and go to bed after all that sliding.

Agreed! And also, Jerry O'Connell felt that without Lloyd, Rhys-Davies, and Tormé, that much of the show's original premise was gone, and opted to leave.
for me it died when the professor died.. i still watched it but it really died when Wade was taken off the show!! I stopped watching it when they recast Quinn
I agree with actor played Professor Arturo, the writers got sloppy. And began stealing concepts from other films and TV series. I hated the Kromags which are obviously ripoff of NAZI of WW II. Sliders had great potential that was wasted.
Loved the series, but I personally think it died when they introduced the Kromags/Nazis. If they ever do a series reboot, PLEASE do NOT have a 'regular villian'. Asside from lazy writing, it usually soon spells the doom of any series.
You might want to "correct" the video again. You say that the Kromaggs were aliens, but they weren't aliens as in they were not from a different planet. They were from Earth, an alternate Earth. On the alternate Earth that they are from, a different human species evolved to be the predominant hominid species on Earth.
Well… technically and literally he is still correct to call them “aliens” as in they are alien to our time/dimension/world/perception. Aliens doesn’t mean “from outer space”.
I tried more times than I can count to like this show, but after all was said and done, I will have to list it as one of the worst sci fi shows there was.
oh man, the first couple seasons are so great. i loved the episodic nature of it and the cast dynamic was great. it starts to go off the rails in later seasons, but still great fun.
You held on a lot longer than many other folks did, then. I only gave up with the O'Connell brothers leaving. I might as well have rage quit when they killed off Arturo.
Ya I kept going after they killed off the Professor but ya after Sabrina left as Wade I was like okay this ain’t even remotely the same anymore and kinda haven’t finished the series now.
Love this show since I was a kid in 93. For anyone unfamiliar with it season 1&2 are best and at least season 5 attempted to return to the alternate history premise. Also I always loved Wade more than Maggie. Funny how the most recent Doctor Strange product Multiverse of Madness ripped off a gag from Sliders season 1 ep 1.
Great video. But could you please slow down the picture transitions when talking about the actors? You went a little too fast when talking about the characters being added or removed from the cast. Their pictures didn't stay on screen long enough.
Once Kari Wuhrer was brought in, that was the beginning of the end. She helped kill the show and led to Sabrina Lloyd jumping ship.
Totally agree. The episodes with the original cast were the best. Great idea and storylines

Imo you didn't miss a whole lot. The rest of that season was garbage. The subsequent seasons were she-it.
I have too agree as character was only true Sciencist of Group. As Quinn's mentor it made totally good sense have top brain like his part of team.
