    awesome stuff guys!!!! i use this method now thanks to you!!! but, what i like to do is use a strip of thin cardboard to make the line even straighter!!! just like they do when they make sofas.

      Thank you, glad it was helpful for you! Yes, that's a nice tip with the cardboard strip as a straight edge, less reliant on getting the staples completely straight that way too. Might be a touch more forgiving. I like that, I'll be thinking on that ;-)

    I'm glad that I saw this finishing touch for the pockets. It hides the staples and wood, makes it so there is no exposed staples for the balls to hit and possibly scratch them, and is nicer to look at. once the material was stapled and upside down I sprayed contact cement on the back side, folded over a hem on the bottom and and folded down what now is a skirt, no stapling the bottom end to the table, it just hangs down a nice touch for sure. I went over the fold with a hammer and piece cloth (for cushion) between the hammer and stapled area and it pinched the glue fold tight. Thanks, -Mike

    I completely mold my pockets and then glue them down. I don't have that staple crease at all it's one smooth surface all the way down

    In my opinion you should have stapled a thin strip of plastic, rather than the uneven series of staples for the best result

    • @AverageJoesPool
      @AverageJoesPool  Год назад

      Yes, that would be possible. The only issue with using a material like plastic, leather etc under the cloth is that it needs to also be folded back over the staples and so may be quite 'thick'. And plastic may not fold back well because of the shapes it has to contort to to get the shape of the curve, whereas material is very flexible. But definitely an option and could be a nice finish with a decent thin plastic. Maybe a thin rubber would work better than plastic?

    Your title says "...pockets...", but you didn't show how to finish off the side pockets. That's a 50% omission! ;)

    • @AverageJoesPool
      @AverageJoesPool  Год назад +1

      Yes, techincally you are correct. Maybe, in fact, it is a 83.33% omission as pockets could mean all six pockets 🙃 Seriously though, as you may have guessed, the process is identical regards of which pocket you are working on 🙂

    • @Rickbearcat

      @@AverageJoesPool ...Doesn't side pockets require extra steps to "finish" the leading edge correctly so that balls don't rebound incorrectly due to not folding the cloth the right way?
