    I still rep McDermott. I've been building on the same Lucky series for over a year. Started with just a lucky and loved it. Got a used G core shaft for it and loved it more. I got it cheap because it had a hairline crack starting in ferrule. Played with it constantly until it finally craxked through. Bought a used Defy to use while the g core was off at McDermott getting a new ferrule, turned down to 12.5 and a Kamui Clear Soft Tip. It's a good shaft and like it even more. It's a gen 1, so the coating doesn't work well with skin, but shoots great with a glove. Now I have a Lucky Butt, G Core Shaft, Traditional Maple Shaft and a Defy Shaft all for less than $500. Pretty happy about it and love the way they play.

    My first cue was a Lucasi with the LD shaft. While I prefer my current Predator 314 shaft, the Lucasi shaft really isnt that far behind, though I think they are making a mistake by pricing it the same as the Predator as they're missing cashing out on that lower tier. Why would anyone pay almost $400 for the Lucasi shaft when they can just get the Predator. Now, when the shaft comes with the cue, it's great value. Especially considering how nice Lucasi designs are. My only big problem with Lucasi is those rubber grips that eventually wear away.

    Couple of questions, and I may have missed the answers in the video:- - Does the unit have to sit on top of your cue? i.e. It can't be positioned to the side? - Does it measure cue rotation? i.e. Firming up your grip as you stroke through? Even if those features exist in the product I think £180 is steep. I appreciate there is R&D, app build costs, and device costs, but I suspect the device is pretty much an accelerometer, a Bluetooth chip, some basic EPROM, and a battery so likely no more than £10 in components.

    • @stevelachowiec7004
      @stevelachowiec7004 10 дней назад

      The QMD3 does NOT need to be positioned on the top of your cue and it DOES measure cue rotation. The software is free it you'd like to install and see what it offers. Also, it would be unwise to buy things you can't afford.

    • @AverageJoesPool
      @AverageJoesPool 9 дней назад

      Hey there! Yes, it is covered in the video actually, but the answers are: no, it does not have to sit on the top of your cue. This is the recommended location simply for ease, but in theory it can be placed anywhere. And yes it does measure the cur rotation too (this is shown in the video on the rear view in the app). With regards to pricing, it's $180 rather than £180 (but with the exchange rates being as they are that makes very little difference at the moment!!) Sorry, but I have no idea on component costs, but I would imagine that simply buying £10 of components would not replicate the QMD3. Without the app, which likely took a lot of development time, the components are essentially useless. Like you mentioned, there would no doubt have been a lot of R&D time put into this product. Hope that helps 👍

    I'm an APA 5/6 (no Fargo but would be equivalent to 450-550 according to Dr Dave). I literally just received a DigiCue trainer in the mail last week. Very happy with that purchase and a comparable product to this QMD3. My decision to purchase the trainer was simply out of awe that the inverter is so talented and has been working on a cue-ball with sensors inside that looked absolutely incredible. Instead of an audible fault indication the Digicue vibrates like a cellphone but not as intense. You can change the settings to turn the vibration on for success, failure, or disable the vibration all together. After a few hours of initial play I decided to turn off the vibration and just have it log my shots. A Full week of multiple hours of play daily what it's shown me is I have a decently straight stroke with good fundamentals, however fallow through and finish are consistently faulting so something for me to work on!!! The DigiCue weight is something I can feel but I'm not bothered by it as I switched cues recently and can deal with change. Thank you for this review and the great content, always enjoy your stuff, god bless.

    Great job and nice video 👍🏻 I just have two questions: 1) Why not using contact glue applied with a brush instead of this spray glue (no covering up needed)? 2) When it comes to the pocket trims. Why not just gluing a piece of cloth in the exact same place where you‘ve put the plastic strap trim, right over the staples? Don’t understand the purpose of that plastic strap. Thanks!

    • @AverageJoesPool
      @AverageJoesPool 12 дней назад

      Glad you like the video! Contact glues can soak into the cloth, which is why spray glue tends to be the industry standard for pool cloth installation. For the pocket trims, you could glue (spray rather than contact ideally) a cloth strip on, but it likley would not last and peel away. You don't have to use a plastic strip, our other video on the same subject shows the same process done with just staples. The plastic trim does give a really nice finish though, and easier to fit than just staples as you already have a nice straight edge. Hope that helps 👍

    A broom handle in the right hands is better than any cue at any price. Of course, those same hands with a good cue will do magic.

    I’m setting my oversized 8’ heirloom and found this video, I’m seeing the boards that go under the slate frames in the corners..they are cut in the same of the pocket…are they for the nets? Or are they for support? You don’t show them in assembly, they aren’t there throughout leveling the slates. But they are there on cloth install. I’m asking because 3 of my 4 are broken..I’ll replace if they are support as I’ve made my own nets.thank you and great stuff I watch all the pool table videos y’all are awesome,,

    • @AverageJoesPool
      @AverageJoesPool 21 день назад

      Yes, those slide in sections often break. You can cover those with cloth, and these help hide any visible cut marks if you stretch over these and staple to the underside, which can be handy. But structurally they're doing very little. Hope that helps 👍

    a good cue you recomend from amazon? 50-200$ range?

    • @AverageJoesPool
      @AverageJoesPool 25 дней назад

      Hey there! Firstly, that's quite a big price range! A good place to start would likely be the Valhalla which falls pretty much in the middle of your budget, see it here: ruclips.net/video/_9Auq6how2A/видео.html You may also want to take a look at STAR by McDermott (ruclips.net/video/b8d3cpMF2c8/видео.html) which are a touch over budget but great cues, and also the LUCKY by McDermott which is a strong competitor for the Valhalla (review coming soon). If you want to be nearer to $50, then the Aska L2 and Viper Underground Series are good for the money (as outlined in this video). Hope that helps 👍

Im thinking off a mcdermott lucky or a fury ty knight Viking valhalla isnt available in my country Some of my thoughts are the mcdermot is at 150 ish the one available is the one with decals that is 60$ more expensive thatln the normal one while the fury is at 120 with low deflection.

    Using this exact cue model in 21oz blue. Very little wobble and extremely stiff. Tip feels hard to medium. I use this cue is used for breaking only. Better than any off the wall cues at any pool/ billiards clubs. I won’t be crying about it if I inadvertently leave it behind lost either.
