- I made this video to let you all know what kind of fascinating instrument the FARFISA COMPACT DELUXE is and why i love it so much :)
all signals run through cubase with some reverb, chorus, amping, stereo and effect plugins. EQin is all flat!
The engineers at Farfisa were absolute geniuses.
they were indead!
Ben the bread
Loplop der Vogel
COULD NOT HAVE SAID IT BETTER MYSELF, BUT THE ORGAN WOULD BE NOTHING WITHOUT THE TALENTED PLAYERS THAT USE IT TO ITS FULLEST POTENTIAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I bought a FARFISA COMPACT DELUXE and its amp in mid 1964! Played it in a Cleveland Ohio band for years! It was the best keyboard.
Cleveland! Love that place.
what band
@@aarondiver4693 Hi Aaron, the band was:
"The Scoundrels of York" from 1965-1968-ish.
We were a club band, playing all the top dance hits. I remember we were the regular Thursday Night House band at the Town & Country club in Berea, Ohio.
@@JustSayNovideo-BehindScenes cool my godmother was in the adults in the 80s as well as The rainy day saints currently
Great Ray Manzarek/Doors sound there!
How realistic the pipe organ sound is. Really nice sound.
It’s BEAUTIFUL.
Always liked those mellow flutey voicings on the Farfisa.
I purchased a brand new Red Farfisa Combo Compact back in the Summer of 1965. It served me well. Traded it in plus money on a brand new Vox Continental in 1968. I am picking up a used Farfisa Compact Duo in the next 2 weeks. A old band member of mine from back during the 60's has it and wants to give it to me. Missing my old Farfisa Combo Compact I am going to take it off his hands. Hopefully it doesn't need a lot of work.
2:40, Love Me two Times, The Doors
Great!
Wow that’s far out, good for your numb skull!
Holy S@!@ amazing!!!!!!!!!!!
Hear this perfect pipe organ sound. Lovely sound quality.
This organ defined the 60's!
Apparently Jerk It Out by the Caesars was played on a Farfisa once they’d found one in a pawnshop. Inimitable sound. Check it out.
He brought back The Doors with that 60s 70s psychedelic rock.
Waiting for the Sun ☀️
Loved that you took the time to go through all the settings. Great Video.
yeah, i missed such a step by step video on youtube, so i did it :)
I have a 72 model, and nothing sounds Like this, doors, ELP, YES, PF, and of course ,the reason I got one, The Animals, thanks for going through settings and sharing this beautiful instrument
None of those bands used these except Pink Floyd.
The doors and The Animals used a VOX Continental.
I'm amazed at the pipe organ sounds!
I miss them. They should make a comeback.
Ich vermisse Farfisa. Ich finde die sollten ein comeback machen.
i agree they officially need to come back as well, but check out the yamaha reface YC and nord electro, they have a good farfisa sound in them
@@deengew Check out Hammond SK1 series for Farfisa organ sounds! Its on my bucket list to buy one now...
Mother of combo organs, and imho grandmother of the synth pad.
could be yeah ;)
What do you mean by synth pad
Chris boon's prized possession from 'the inspiral carpets'
Pictures of The Doors playing at Northridge in july 1967 Ray manzarek is playing a farfisa organ.
About the best playing I've heard since 'Ray Manzarek'!Awesome demo!In a day of incredible synth keys, the 'farfisa' has an 'organic-quality' that can't be touched!💙🥂
Hard Rock Style is very reminiscent of Keith Emerson's Hammond organ
Yeah that it was supposed to be, and of course the deep purple Sound
It definitely raised the bar.... Now which manufacturer, will bring it back to Life.....
4:13 That Pipe organ music is bringing back SO MANY memories of going to church.
Our church had an electric organ for the longest time, I don’t know what make or model it was but it sounded a lot like that.
Our church later replaced it with a complete pipe organ which sounds amazing but there’s something about the transistor generated sound of an electric organ trying to emulate the Pipe Organ that just takes me back to my childhood.
Love all The Doors music! 🤘🤘
The way you played that amazing instrument was awesome!!
Top!
Well played, sir. Some really nice runs there!
Can’t actually believe this thing is over a HALF century old!!
Farfisa is legend for me. Warm sounds, sounds fantastic. My Farfisa Keyboard was Broken 6 years ago😢.
Unique music! Bravo Maestro!
Dood , watching you play doors like that literally just inspired me to hack apart my organ and put some overdrive in the signal chain
everything is better with overdrive
I think Ray Manzarek exclusively used a Vox Continental, but someone correct me if I'm wrong.
Thats noch right, love me two times is played on a Gibson g101 combo organ which he used live a lot! But i think he never used farfisas...
@@bendasbrot Thank you for the clarification! I'm a pretty new synth and organ nut, so I like to have those details right.
Hehe, youre welcome
. Gracias, gracias;!
"...que nos deparaste" .
Best Garage Organ! 🎹
Awesome organ! I miss that music. Crocodile Rock - Elton John brought me here.
4:13 My favorite FOREVER.
best keys, best key action of ALL the combo organs
Thats true. Btw i watch your videos since a few years and really enjoy them
@@bendasbrot Very Gud! I have just bought a German made condenser mic to capture a live performance of my next video, The End by The Doors , when I can I prefer German engineering/technology ultra reliable , the Italians did well engineering the Farfisa range
I must admit the farfisas a really well made. Mine was also pretty reliable until last week one frequency divider passed out
@@bendasbrot yes, very solid construction all round i'm using mine as a table! but for sure those keys are great, common problems will be elements of the circuitry giving out with these vintage instruments
Yeah i guess you can expect that from aging of capacitors
wonderful Bravo .
beautiful example!
I have the Arturia FarfisaV but this is a beast😍
Been thinking about getting that, already have the Mini V and Modular V, is it worth the money?
@@zachhaywood1564 not alone, there are huge discounts rn for the whole V collection, maybe save up some money and get the VC8 or the upcoming VC9 instead
WOW!!! Amazing....
Love the Farsies! 👍
Someone in my area is giving away one of these that needs some repairs and I came here to watch this, which was a mistake, because now I NEED IT.
It is totally worth it, trust me. I have many Instruments, but the farfisa is still my Favorite
@@bendasbrot I grabbed it yesterday. I would say it works... 70%? There are lots of good repair videos here... I'm hoping I can get it up to 90% with just some compressed air and contact cleaner!
@@doctordave super! If you need help troubleshooting, let me know. I restored the one above mysekf
@@bendasbrot I might. Mine's actually the Compact Combo... not the "Deluxe", so it doesn't have the bass percussion and some of the features.
Yeah, it lags the Percussion Feature both for treble and Bass, as well as the "Drums". But Soundwise its the same beast. Best luck repairing! That thing is not easy to start off with analogue electronics
Miss my duo☹️ Ace vid.
Do you prefer this model with the drum and cymbal feature?i have the model without.i love this organ. the look the feel the organ of our lives.with some effects it can sound like anything.
well i down really prefer it since i do not use the drum and cymbal :) but i used to buy this one cheaply!
There's a 13 Note Pedal Board for it.
Love me two times! :D
I now know this was the organ used in the recording of "Kind Of a Drag", my all-time favorite song, by the Buckinghams.
Geil!
Nice bluesy organ
Used to have Fast2 back in the 80's...wish I'd never sold it.
Hi, I've been watching your demo recording of the organ several times already. And I really like it. Tell me, do you use any additional effects or are these all built-in effects of this organ? Thank you
no 96 tears?
I have been TRYING to add one of these to my collection but they are SO rare now and fetching £10,000 when new they only cost a few hundred quid!
Uhh that expensive? Where are you located?
I don't get why it sounds like it's coming from behind a wall, but it sounds so spacious or like the reverb is incredible.
have the compact deluxe... it is a nice one.... have too many though and it's big..may have to move.
thats the big problem not having space for everything :)
Uau Farfisa
😻😻😻😻😻
Great demo! Your playing skills are pretty amazing! I was curious to hear what one of these sounds like. I've just bought a Nord Electro 6D. One of it's specialities is imitating five types of Organ, (including Farfisa). It sounds like Nord did their research very well!
Yeah those new Nord Keyboards are pretty acurate, espacially the vox organs
Stimmt :-)
farfisa and vox the best
First of all, I'm the mother of no organs, but I am a mother of three beautiful boys
my profile snapshot is one of my boys, so silly.
😻
Danke
Amazing instrument! I have one myself, a compact in red (but I like the grey better!). How did you get the sounds in the organ to sounds like a pipe organ?
It is just a little filtered with lots of reverb
I need a sampled version of this keyboard :O
Arturia farfisa awesome.
Great stuff :) I worry about it being so close to the radiator though 🤔
Thank you, that was just a temporary set up, normally the farfisa is in storage... 😉 but actually it has issues with one frequency divider
@@bendasbrot I hope you can manage to fix it. I like to be able to experience old equipment.
tony koeswoyo juga mempergunakan keyboard FARFISA..
Pipe organ Style Is incredible!
what amplifier you use for the organ?
Thanx
It is recorded direct into DAW
@@bendasbrot wow great sound
@@pierolupaio4804 but of course, the signal ran into amp simulations
@@bendasbrot what's the year of organ, please? Amazing
@@gilberto2056 i dont know for sure, but i think it is late 60s early 70s

hehe, mal ne andersartige Tour of stops!!
I have one question. What is that big thing on top of the organ, on the left side? It is lit up, and has a lot of buttons?
some people call such a thing laptop, for me it is my puny old 2008 macbook pro :-D
Do a video playing 96 Tears.
Don't let it die please!
Never, i play it once a week or so. It still is in great shape!
@@bendasbrot Can you make a other video? pleaseee
Made in Italy Dear FELLA!
When it says “Made In Italy” on a piece of gear you know it’s gonna be good
Cars?
What preset was used on Dirty Laundry?
If this is the organ model Sir Elton John played during "Jamaica Jerk-Off" from *Goodbye Yellow Brick Road,* does that mean Elton triggered those drum sounds from the bass section too?
How can i buy this?
Sounds great, could you tell me what one of these organs is worth ?
I would say they rise in value. A good one about 1000€, an absolutely mint condition one about 1500€
@@bendasbrot Thanks not sure what it is in U S money
@@bendasbrot Is anything manufactured these days that can duplicate the Farfisa sound(s)?
Dhumma Vati yes! For example all the clavia Nord stage products, or some bigger workstations...
@@bendasbrot Vielen dank. Great to know! I associate the sound of the Farfisa *so* much with my childhood. I think it would be interesting to hear some well known church music played on it, and also to hear what we think of as "serious music" hammed up by playing it on a Farfisa in the style of the organ on Elton John's "Crocodile Rock." BTW, can you ID what sort of organ that is on CR just by its sound?
Do an other video pleaseeeeeeeee
Dude that sounds fantastic ...but how are you running the organ through Cubase given this is pre MIDI? And when you say "effect plugins" ...which ones are you using beyond reverb, chorus, amping [virtual tube amp?]?
Thanks, well i just captured the Audio via jack cable and Audio interface. I used a phaser for the psy part. The rest is just a lot of reverb (spring) and amp Simulation.
@@bendasbrot "captured the Audio via jack cable and Audio interface" ... being a newbie I had no idea you could do this. If I understand it correctly that's essentially a Midi hack since you're playing with a DAW manipulating the sound in real time. Did I get that right? So a 1/4' jack to USB adapter to the computer ...but what's the "audio interface"?
It has nothing to do with midi. I captured the pure Audio Signal from the organ and fed it into the Software. There i applied the effects and just recorded all at once.
@@bendasbrot Goes to show you learn something new everyday. Thanks.
@@bendasbrot I'm a newbie so didn't even know one could do that...thanks for the education! I'm eyeing up 2 Hammond's in my area [free & close to it] so I could play around with the sounds with something like the following. Correct?

Can you make a cover of Lovve Me two times and light my fire with this organ?
Pleaseeeeee
Unforutnately i have some issues with the organ now... Maybe when i got that fixes...
@@bendasbrot Still im waiting the cover xd
Yeah like i said, unfortunately the organ is only partly functional, i need time and money to get it fixed first 😫

Which melody art them?
If you mean which Songs i played: first is kind of "love me two Times" from the doors. The rest is improvised
0:53 Calm down there, Emerson.
:-D
ok i’m looking to pick up an organ cause none i’ve sampled on shit like garage-band and haven’t found any free shit that sounds right, almost every sound on here i need, know where i can buy one?
Get a new vox continental by korg. Sounds great and has it all - vox, farfisa, cx3, electric piano.
Have you really got those Cubans effects enabled when demonstrating the different presets?
what cubans effects do you mean?
ah you mean cubase effects, well i is actually the waves plugin running in cubase. I think a little reverb was added anytime
Yeah I was trying to use your demonstration as a reference as I have recently got a Compact Deluxe and it doesn’t quite sound as full even after a lot of work so I was wondering how clean your recording was.
Ok, i just added reverb, Chorus and distortion at some time. But i did not make any changes to Sound itself like equalizing
I don’t suppose you’re in the UK Ben?
I noticed the Casio VL-1 by the window...
Is this using the Farfisa amp?
What is the name of the song in “Psychedelic style”?
What's the song of the psychedelic style?
Hammer Sounds……. sind sie deutsche?
Is this organ good for New Wave/Punk
Duh man
Who didn’t see a doors song coming
Ich hatte die farfisa Duo mit Lesley .
