Considering there are 10 other Halls in existence this seems to be a good solution to recreating a lost class consigned to time. Plus how the GWR fleet has interchangeable parts only influenced the decision more. The other project locos at Didcot are proof enough.
Wonderful photos and comment. Can't wait to see her in the near future either on the Main Line? or at Preserved Railways up and down the Country. SVR in particular
The Saints' driving wheels are 6ft 8 and 1/2in in diameter, whilst the Halls' driving wheels are 6ft in diameter. The Saints are basically 'Halls' with 'Castle' wheels.
This locomotive was rebuilt from an original Hall which was in Barry scrapyard condition. The Great Western Society purchased Maindy Hall specifically to rebuilt into a brand-new Saint; ironically, the prototype Hall was a rebuilt Saint.
The saints were always speedy locomotives would they in fact be the record holders of the gwr as king richard 111 obtained 108 mph at bruton and many stories true or false the saints could better this not that could happen or would be sensible for what is a fine loco and sole member of the class ,fine job didcot .?

I love how this can be achieved because of the amount of locos saved !
Great achievement.
Unreall!
So was the boiler just dropped in?
Thank god the GWR had Churchward, modular designe!

Yeah, Would like to see her at the Severn Valley at the head of the Toplights.
Surely it would have been easier
to make a Grange out of her?
So what are main differences between a saint and a hall?

Maybe I will have to google the differences between the Halls and Saints. I hope this loco is not just a Hall with a different Name Plate on it!
