- 2999 Lady of Legend has been with the Severn Valley Railway for a few week's now from Didcot Railway Centre, preparing for the Spring Steam Up.
But how do you get a locomotive ready for it's starring role? You take it for a load test over the sixteen-mile line with a beautiful selection of GWR brown and cream coaches, the first time it's been beyond the 1/4 mile demonstration line in Oxfordshire.
Our team have been working hard and you can now see, first hand, the fruits of their labour.
An unbelievable effort, from the team at Bridgnorth MPD and those at Didcot Railway Centre.
You can get your tickets for the Spring Steam Up here: www.svr.co.uk/SEItem.aspx?a=174

A new build Saint great! The straight footplate and steps look wonderful. To think many of the Saints before scrapping ended up on goods and mixed traffic, so its a treat to see GWR coaches behind a great Lady. Thanks
This is fantastic I will see you there on April 18th
I really love these videos.
SUPERB... Well done everyone.
Great video love the SVR and the volunteers. Just wanna say a massive thank you to all the staff and volunteers down there for keeping the railway alive. I hope i can join them soon as a junior volunteer
That engine looks great first time I saw her she was in bits fantastic she's alive great video guys 😀😀
So nice to see a Saint running elsewhere than on my layout. ( I have two, including "Saint David"!) Hats off to both Didcot and the SVR.
wow, very excited
A nice done video :)
The Saint - What a Cool lookin Loco - Stunnin!! 👍🏻
‘Brilliant!’ does not begin to cover it really😊😊😊
As someone who is actually a Didcot resident, lady of legend is a pride to rail enthusiasts along the great Western mainline and beyond, and as much as I like the DRC, it is far too small, especially for locomotives in our collection that can really put on a grand show!
Saw her on the "cams today, she looks fabulous!
tender-first running with a Churchward cab and a low tender : lots of fresh air all round.
Magnificent looking locomotive sounds great, would love ❤️ to see Lady Of Legend running on the main line on the cathedral express say between between Worcester Oxford Didcot and return ? I can 😁 dream can't I just a comment, well done everyone who keep these magnificent steam locomotive s alive and running for people to enjoy.
I remember going to Didcot on the first weekend of public running and feeling like an over-excited 7 year old all over again as she came into view that Saturday morning along the demo line! I am delighted she will be stretching her legs now on the SVR, I just wish I could get down myself 🤷🏻♂️🍻
I've seen the videos of her running she looks amazing! Fantastic effort all around. It's weird to think this loco is never than all the GWR IET's and electrostars.
Sadly raveningham hall will be running for the last time on the gala because this year is the last one by that loco
They because its freezing cold frosty started first thing this morning today.
Is loco 1501 ok because she was in steam yesterday but being shunted in bridgenorth sheds this morning
