Haha thanks mate! I do my best to share my success but also my mistakes so we can all learn and grow together! I see so many people completely unaware of how this rule works I figured it was overdue for a video
@@pompyromage "within 6" of any Battlefield edge other than the enemy Battlefield edge" is different to "within 6" of any Battlefield edge but not within 6" of the enemy Battlefield edge" My understanding is you can chose one of the 3 edges and arrive within 6" of it, but you cannot chose their Battlefield edge to arrive from
This video came at a great time for me. I just got done moving cities, and I'm rewriting my Black Legion build for Arks, and have been eyeing the strategic reserve rule for my Wardogs and Havocs.
Thanks Dean great masterclass. One topic which would be great would be a deployment masterclass, it's something I always struggle and second guess myself on, and I'm sure many people feel the same.
There's a Khorn approved amount of blood coming out of my ears after the volume jump in the intro. Great content! But headphone users might appreciate balance between the vocals, and the intro.
Great stuff Dean. Strat reserve is a huge win for melee armies. Would love to see a vid on how it interacts with WE. I actually think it most benefits a big unit of berserkers coming in from Strat reserves, being able to roll 3d6 for the charge
I did this in my first game with the new world eaters codex, worked pretty well for me. I was able to make use of the quarters style deployment zones with the long battlefield edge to make the charge easier than 9" into a unit of 10 grey knights. Slaughtered them all of course.
Great video, very explanatory even for non english speakers, gonna save it and it gives me lots of fun ideas. Im fairly new and was planning a Word Bearers 2000points list (only 1k left to paint), I have a daemons allied patrol and deep strikeing seems easy with the daemon ability "manifestation", but was strugling about how to backline with the chosen+legionary units. This give a new perspective.
Just what I needed. My last game, I brought in 5 deathshroud and a plaguecaster from reserves into enemy deployment t3 and my opponent then brought in his reserves of emperors champion and sword brethren onto his edge and proceeded to wipe them. 350 points down the drain which essentially cost me the game
Great video. It was very informative and helpful. Looking at your red highlighted areas maps reminded me of something I had come up in one of my games. The wording is "Starting from the third battle round, Strategic Reserve units that arrive can be set up wholly within 6" of any battlefield edge other than the enemy's battlefield edge"does this mean you can never come in within 6" of the enemy's edge? So there would be a 6" area blocked out against the opponent's edge in all of the highlighted maps? That is the way we ended up playing it, but we the wording isn't very clear.
This is going to be totally off topic, here, but I'd love to see if you could make a 'Spawn Tide' list work. Multiple 4 or 5 'man' squads of them, were popular with some top table Chaos players, about 6 years ago, well before they got their new 'Hideous Regeneration' buff. There's diddly squat, when you search "Spawn masterclass", on RUclips. Please, pretty please give your thoughts on this overlooked unit. Cheers Pete
Deepstriked terminators can't take advantage of the coming into engagement range in DZ right because they aren't strategic reserved they are like deepstriked? Or can they?
Reserves is the umbrella term that covers anything that starts the game off the table to arrive in later turns. This includes things that arrive via Deep Strike etc. Strategic Reserves are units that start the game in Reserves that when they arrive must do so within 6" of the table edge etc. These terms have changed significantly over editions and are often interchanged with reinforcements as well as Reserves so it definitely gets confusing.
This is such an underrated channel... By far the best about Chaos. Really useful, with tons of deep interesting stuff.
Keep the good work!!!
Thanks mate, I appreciate the kind words :)
As a bad Warhammer 40k player this is supremely useful and would love to see more breakdowns like this.
Glad you enjoyed! I have many more in the pipeline
WAY More Players need this in their life. GET STUCK IN!!

Yeah it is so good on havoks
Really appreciate this masterclass. Experimenting with reserves has been quite fun this season.
It really has been hasnt it
great content! I'm always having to explain fight first - fight last to opponents. I think its a topic needs a good breakdown like you have done here.
Absolutely! I often have to explain that too, so yeah I'll definitely do a video on that
Thanks for the banger of the review. Nurgle and Chaos Bless
Not entirely sure I want to be blessed by nurgle, but I appreciate it I guess? Hahah
Fn awesome video, mate. Using your recent experience as a teaching tool for others is an excellent idea.
Thanks mate, glad you enjoyed it

Thanks for the feedback mate, always looking for ways to improve
I have been cheating myself and staying 6" from the enemy's edge. Thanks for opening my eyes Dean.
You are welcome:)

Bring them in besides Abaddon, with blood Tithe for a 3D6+2 ;)

Very useful vid. Please do more Masterclasses on game mechanics.
Will do, particularly when 10th edition hits as there will be a lot to learn
Would like a similar video on piling in and consolidate - thanks for the good contents
That's a great idea, I'll add it to the to do list

Yeah that's a big oooft
About to play a game with my blood angels, might put a redemptor into reserve!
If you do they are going to want to stay well away from your Battlefield edge that is for sure!

Great info and I also like the way you presented it! You earned my Sub!
Haha fantastic! Thank you
You can also place your Helbrute 1.1" from the enemy, shoot something else, then charge and smash the closest unit in combat. Maximum efficiency.
Yeah that is so much fun

They are actually really good in World Eaters
these are super good! more videos please!
Thanks mate! it really is just a matter of finding the time to record :)
love your work!
Thanks mate! I appreciate the feedback
To clarify units that "deep strike" IE terminators, manta drop, or daemon manifestation are not subject to strategic reserve rules?
Correct
Thank you for this! ❤
Thank you!
Deepstriked terminators can't take advantage of the coming into engagement range in DZ right because they aren't strategic reserved they are like deepstriked? Or can they?
Correct, you can place them in strategic reserves instead of Warp Strike, buy Warp Strike has other advantages like not being tied to a table edge.
Very helpful blog god
That is so good to hear, it is one of the main goals of this channel, not just to document my journey but to help others along theirs
in any case .....The only exeption to this...... etc - where can I find it in RULES ???? It's not in rule book
This is a video from 9th edition
Keep in mind you can't put "most" of your army in reserves. Half your PL has to be deployed
Of course, you can put the most important stuff in there tho ;)
Can I ask where you got that shirt? I don't see it on your store. Cheers!
I think I am actually wearing an older discontinued line in this video
@@BlogForTheBloodGod Ah well, thanks anyway!
Hey Blog what tier of patreon makes the eightbound STL available?
$10, there is a section on our discord community with a bunch
@@BlogForTheBloodGod Thanks!!!
Nice work .
Thanks mate :)
At 16 mins you got the wrong map just saying, didn’t show angle long edge and showed angled short edge 2ce. Hope that’s helpful
Thanks. Please add timestamps next time.
I wish someone would just explain to me what the difference between Reserves and Strategic Reserves is. No where can I find the difference.
@@BlogForTheBloodGod can you go into further detail instead of saying "etc" because I don't know what falls under "etc"? thank you.
Do you have birds? 😄
Nah but there is a tree just outside the door teeming with wildlife that likes to make itself known in my videos lol
And funny since taus 9th codex they can not shoot people off the table anymore they are better at battle suit rushes now lost their whole flavour
kinda hard to sub when you are at 6.66k subs ;/
I'm aiming for 888
