    When I was younger my family bought several hundred pounds of beans, flour and sugar each fall. Canned and froze all the fruits vegetables we ate. Had our own milk cows made our cottage cheese and butter. We didn't know we were preppers. It just the way we got buy.
    Only bought coffee , salt as well. Not much else. We ate Good.
    Thanks for bringing back memories from before all the convenient foods premade took over.

    That oatmeal bread looks great. Was hoping you had a recipe for a good rye bread or pumpernickel bread. My husband, who is mostly German, loves it but every recipe I try never turns out very good. A local restaurant serves a dark rye bread that is wonderful and it contains millet seeds, and no caraway seeds. We love it, but I would love to learn how to make it at home. Can you help me?

    1. Can oatmeal flour be used? If so, how?
    2. I need to use my mixer to knead. How to work that in the process of this recipe?
    3. I substituted honey powder and loved it. What is the max amount of sweetener this dough will tolerate?

    I used 5 cups of flour while mixing the bread....decided to let it rise....which it did fine. Probably use another 3cups while kneading...it is still sticky and raggedy. Double checked myself on measurements...used correct. Lol. This will be some bread!!!

    Mary , thank you for your great detailed instructions . Can this bread be made the same way with almond flour ? Just trying to make it gluten free. If not almond what flour would you suggest?

    • @CFinch360
      @CFinch360 3 года назад

      Linda-you cannot just sub almond flour, it's entirely different, I'd recommend Bob's Red Mill 1-1 Gluten Free flour. I use it all the time to bake GF.

      Hi Linda, Great question. I am not a gluten free baker and have not tried almond flour in this recipe. With no gluten, I wonder if the bread would rise. Maybe a quick bread would be a better alternative. Sorry to not be more knowledgeable. I will have to do some experimentation. Love, Mary❤️🤗❤️
