one way you can keep memories attached to the book and not keep the book is using a reading journal, and not only take notes about the book itself, but also of the reading process! great video, love your content!

book recommandation to spinning silver/uprooted: The Winternight trilogy (The Bear and the nightingale) by Katherine Arden! Russian folklore/history, soft magic, ATMOSPHERIC, perfect for winter, mc that you will root for etc. The 1st book is slow but the rhythm pick ups for the 2nd and 3rd. All the books are around 300 pages so you won’t get discouraged. One of my favourite series💕
Fits well into my space, I painted the back green. It's very easy to customize just the back if that's something you want to do. I would suggest sanding it first before painting, I got a little impatient. The shelves ruclips.net/user/postUgkxM8H4CjCb79vzeyvgaFMdzmLm88oVFPMkare pretty small so keep that in mind if you're going to have it horizontal that some books won't fit. I like the snug look that it has. Good small shelf if you don't have much space, but not too small. Simple to put together, though you'll need your own tools, a screwdriver and a mallet/hammer, it's easiest to do with another person.
I also struggle with the want to have a wall of bookshelves filled with books but I realized I had a lot that I knew I would never pick up again so it felt pointless to keep them. But I still kinda want a personal library. It's a constant struggle
My heart hurt a little when you unhauled Night Film, but, on the other hand, I am starting to calculate how long certain books have been sitting on my shelves, and I need to have an honest conversation with myself about my desire to read those books. LOL!
I only started buying classics recently because 1. I want to collect those and 2. I know I'm going to read those. Everytime I see a hella pretty cover on the bookshelf of my local bookstore, I have to kill myself because I have to return it back to its original place and leave it be, knowing someone else will probably buy it. I have, currently, maybe 7-9 books I've bought that I haven't finished reading. I have like 2 books I got as presents and one I want to read, it's by Borges, but it's short stories and I'm not the biggest fan of those, and the other is a romance story by Nora Roberts I believe? Which I had no idea was so famous cause I see her books EVERYWHERE!!! but yeah, I'm struggling hahahahah

I hope you are well and your summer is winding down well! Just remember Lear's plea: "Deny not nature more than nature's needs/Man's life as cheap as beasts!" Have you looked into Matt Larkin's "Cycle of Eschaton" series? There's multiple. "Gods of the Ragnarok Era" tells a grittier, human-based retelling of the apocalypse myths of the Norse, then "Tapestry of Fate" is a prequel series based on Greek mythology, and "Queens of Mana" a sequel series based on Polynesian mythology. I think you'd like it.

Books that reminded me of Spinning Silver are The Bear and the Nightingale by Katherine Arden & The Wolf and the Woodsman by Ava Reid! Both wonderful wintery fairytale-esque stories with fierce female characters.
One way to "detach" from storing the physical item but still recall the memory is to take a picture (much smaller and can be stored digitally). You could start a Word document on your computer including the pictures there along with a paragraph about the memory.

Marie Kondo says to take a photo of something you hold dear so you can have the memory after letting the object go. For me, I ask if the book is a favorite and keep those treasures. I like to re-read or skim when a new book in a series comes out. I let gift books go to good new homes. I destash nonfiction that is too dated. For an atmospheric dark fairytale, Gilded by Marissa Meyer it’s soooo good, somehow both having a cozy fall vibe and a creepy fairytale. If I had to describe its like being read a fairytale as a kid when you’re little, that scares you a bit, but it’s okay because you’re nice and warm under the covers.

Recommendations for books similar to Naomi Novik’s Uprooted and Spinning Silver: The Bear and the Nightingale, For the Wolf, The Wolf and the Woodsman, The Near Witch.
i read and loved the bear and the nightingale by katherine arden and it's been compared to naomi novak's writing a lot, and i also read and loved midnight in everwood by m a kuzniar and it gave me the same magical vibes as the bear and the nightingale SO if you squint maybe it's comparable to naomi novak?? it's a retelling of the nutcracker and it's so magical and whimsical and also has a darker twist
I think, if books that we already read take space though we don't want to sell or give them for feelings, how about keeping the cover of book as print and then making like a large poster for wall having all the cover prints and quotes or words we liked from them on.... It can serve as both a decorative element and a reminder of the books we enjoyed.
If you haven't read the winternight trilogy (the bear and the nightingale being the first book) you absolutly have to. I loved Uprooted a few years ago and recently read the first two Winternight books. They're really similar in vibes and I liked them even more than Naomi Novik

Honestly such a huge relief to see a booktuber who blatantly says "I don't want to support JK Rowling" I was watching another booktuber who name herself after a HP character and had a huge HP collection with a signed copy and didn't address the elephant in the room which was kinda sus.
That's funny I didn't really like uprooted but absolutely loveddddd a deadly education!
I agree about Into the Crooked Place! I loooooved To Kill a Kingdom and Into the Crooked Place was so bad??? I felt like it was two different authors.
love your shelves 💖
Try the Bear and the Nightingale by Katherine Arden if you like Novik (if you haven’t already)!
I think, if books that we already read take space though we don't want to sell or give them for feelings, how about keeping the cover of book as print and then making like a large poster for wall having all the cover prints and quotes or words we liked from them on.... It can serve as both a decorative element and a reminder of the books we enjoyed.
I just read a book which was on my tbr for 14 years!!!! So, don‘t give up on books on your tbr 😅
If you haven't read the winternight trilogy (the bear and the nightingale being the first book) you absolutly have to. I loved Uprooted a few years ago and recently read the first two Winternight books. They're really similar in vibes and I liked them even more than Naomi Novik
I agree
12:32 I recommend The Bear and the Nightingale.
For fairy tale fantasies I think you might like Deathless by Catherynne M Valente, and perhaps the Singing Hills Cycle by Nghi Vo
I love Marie Kondo💗
'Blabble' is a very nice portmanteau, worthy of Lewis Carroll.
Found your channel recently and love your videos❤
I read a dark fairytale fantasy I liked last year. It was a pocketful of crows by Joanne Harris.
THE SECET HISTORY IS SO GOOD YOU NEED TO READ IT AS SOON AS FALL HITSSS
Is it good like the goldfinch?just wanna try it but not sure if I’m gonna like it
Everyone interested in her unhaul and organisation while I can't stop staring at her Harry Potter set. (I loved the video, and paid attention yes :) but the Harry Potter set is gorgeous!)
Omg I’ve found the other person on earth that hasn’t read Harry Potter 😅. I’ve also never read them or seen the movies and I really have never had the urge to
The wolf and the woodsman by Ava Reid has a similar atmospheric, natural dark vibe to Naomi Novik’s books.
"... just to frustrate the literature purists" 😂
a bold power move on her part.
I enjoy your videos more and more every day
I really love videos like this! 🤍
atmospheric fairy tales with dark twists: dreadful young ladies and other stories by kelly barnhill, not sure if you have read it but i am loving it
