You could thrift picture frames and use their class to put them under the plant pots which are standing on your book piles, as some extra water-spilling protection.
Whenever someone mentions the Foxhole Court I have a mini heart attack because, deep down, I'm convinced I made them up. They're way too unhinged to be REAL.
All For The Game series by Nora Sakavic!! I cant explain how much I adore that series and it makes me sooooo happy to see it up there. It is actually criminal that its often classified as a sports romance becauze its 100% not. Despite its numerous numerous flagrant errors and deeply problematic and graphic everything, it has a chokehold on me and I'm never going to get over it. Serious trigger warnings but dear god is it my favorite universe ever.
@@justjaq2319 The more you read or listen to the books the more you realize that Andrew's just a brat 😂 He's so freaking funny and dramatic but the series is so serious that you have to get over the initial shock of the plot line before you can just laugh at Andrew all the time. And I've never enjoyed fanfic from a series more. This fandom writes Andrew and Neil so compellingly and creates such interesting situations and fascinating dynamics between them and between all of the foxes in general.
You mean a trigger warning to end all trigger warnings!😆 But yes, I cannot deny that this series either you hate it or become obsessed with it. (I am obsessed obviously).
The stacks of books on the mantlepiece with plants on them are SO COOL 🤩 but I know I won't ever do that because I would be afraid of watering the books while watering the plants 😅 I think the main problem with the windowsill is not that the pages will turn yellow, but it's that the covers will turn pale. Like a sun-tan, but reversed 😂 but if you don't care, that's fine ^^ they are very viby too !
Loving the videos so far, just a heads up when your talking about putting boos places other than shelves, red pictures show up that say “media online” not sure why it’s doing that? Is it just me?
it's a common editing error. If she initially imported the pictures from say the downloads folder and then later moved them into a different folder her editing software doesn't know where to find them. She would have to open the project folder and relink to media.
I do little unhaul piles! I keep them in the hallway in front of my room and my sisters, friends or my sisters friends can take anything they want. And not only for books but clothes and bags too, its really cool to see my sisters friend wear the jeans that I dont fit into anymore
@17:30 Because of a shipping error, I wound up with a second copy of a book. I took it to my book club and was able to give it to someone who actually wanted to read it instead of just dumping it at a thrift store :)
I don't know if you care about this, and I hate raining on someone's parade, but sunlight bleaches colors over time. So, the black of your vintage edition of Oscar Wilde will fade if you keep it on the window sill permanently. Not sure how fast, but eventually.
I completely agree that not every book has to go on a shelf! Every flat surface in my room has books on, and if it doesn't the potential is there lol I also has so much random stuff on my shelves. There is a terracotta pot, which is normal, but you open it and inside is a lump of concrete
Physics reality - a finite amount of space means a finite amount of stuff, including books. Purge often and allow those ignored books new life with someone else.
What a pretty, feminine, and elegant home you have! Personally I want my books in bookshelves without much memorabilia and clutter on them for easy access and easier cleaning and dusting.
17:11 Omg you're so sweet for that, I thrift books and I can find some good stuff but thats rare. Its mainly cheap paperbacks with bent covers, could be the best book ever but its just horrible that resellers will take all the good books for people who will actually want to read it. Like I respect the hussle for making a quick buck. But we have to remember thrift stores are stores for mainly people in need and when you resell stuff you're taking from people in need
Okay, do you want my copy of star daughter ? 🤣🤣 that book is sucking the life out of me… I was so happy to read Indian book but if I read one more page about how her hair glows I will just jump out of the window
I'm honestly so scared for the AFTG video: it's unfortunately one of my favourite series ever, and as much as everyone in the fandom agrees that there are so many problems with it, it still hurts if someone points it out lol
I am in 100% agreement with you. I am such a massive fan that I have logged an absurd amount of hours listening to the audiobooks over and over and over again but I am terrified of that video and I'm not sure I'll even watch It. I will write you a thesis about all of the things that are wrong with this series and how deeply problematic so many elements are and how terrible the depictions of Nicky in particular are and I will point out every single plot hole but hearing it from somebody who is not also this invested is painful. Like we can criticize our babies but you cannot 😂😅
Honestly, in these types of situations I just decide to not watch the video. My curiosity would always win and I'd watch it but it always made me sad. Trust me, it's better not to watch it.
i read neverwhere by neil gaiman and, like you, i didn’t care for it. and then good omens became a show and it got me into his work. so i recommend watching good omens because it’s so good and it’s so worth your time!! ALSO THE SEASON 2 FINALE- im unhinged over good omens.
Are you going to put your unhauled books on something like Vinted? I would be interested in that edition of Neverwhere :D (I'm from the Netherlands too, yay) Edit: I didn't finish watching the video before commenting lol, but a shelf for your friends sounds like a very great solution!
The sunlight reached my bookshelf in the past, and with this I learned that the pages getting yellow is not the only effect for it, also ruins the covers.... my jane austen learherbound collectors edition has giant stains now
I love what you've done with your space, the books and all the rest. There's something about the oranges, greens and browns that make the environment so warm -- you're inspiring me 🥹
You really bugged me when you spoke about windowsills as "free extra shelves we all have", because then I looked at my window... which has no windowsill. I mean, it's on the outside. The more I think of it, the more I'm sure that here in France, we have no windowsills on the inside. Or at least it's really uncommon.
If in a few months you realise you still have them, you could always do a giveaway with your un-haul books, that way you know they'll be going to someone who appreciates them (your youtube/patreon followers).
I have an opinion that when you read The Foxhole Court you either completely hate it or you love it so much you don't know what life was like before you read it. I have a feeling I know where you will land, I cannot wait for the video, I love drama :D
That's probably very true but I've never met a person who hates it and I hope that I never do. I was certain that I was going to quit reading it so many times during the first book and then I was adamant that I was not going to start the second book but now I have logged over a literal week of listening to the third book alone on audio at this point, over a year later. I definitely think this is a series that should be buddy read or at least read in conjunction with another person around the same amount of time so that you can have those "what the actual fuck just happened" moments together. It rounds out the experience. My favorite things is seeing people on reddit post about how crazy the fandom is for this series and should they read it and then they come back and say "this is the most messed up thing I have ever read but I'm rereading it right now because I loved it so much"
when you put books on the window just make sure to put them lying down not standing up cause that will make them only half yellow which looks really weird (trust me i know from experience)
"we don't need to be confined to the oppressive idea of the bookshelf, okay?" I love this sentence lol, your mind is creative & weird in the most wonderful way🧡
There's never enough space. I had floor to ceiling bookshelves custom built into my new home office on 3 of the walls (one of which has a large window taking up most of it so I build in a window seat as a reading nook). It's enough room for about 1450-1500 books and it will be full in the next 6 or so months. My wife and I have 3 more bookshelves being installed in our living room this November to handle the overflow.
Looks great! After over a decade of temporary housing (renting for a year or two here and there), I'm going to move in to my possibly forever home, and I'm planning to take all the books from my parents place (I only moved with handful of current ones). I have no idea how I'll fir them in, maybe 'everywhere' is the solution 😊
I did a book box at work where you can put a book you don't want anymore and anyone can take it as their own. similar to your windowsill books :) and it worked quite well!
jack edwards just did a video where he separated his read books from the tbr and showed the spines of the books he read, but had the others w the spine facing into the shelf! easy to figure out what to read!!
This motivated me to organize my own shelves in the middle of the night with barely any light because my lamp is broken ☺️ so that was fun! (But really, it looks so much better now - hope it's not just because of the lack of light 😅)

You actualy have space on your book shelves for DOUBLE amount of books. Just clear them and remove all things that are NOT books. They are BOOK shelves in first place.
