    Tips for riding motorcycle long distance. Many people asked me: How many km per day I am riding? It depends from many circumstances. It could be from 200 to 1200km. I don't have this answer, but what I have is 10 tips how to ride on long distance.
    1. Start - always wake up before sunrise. If you do will have enough time for everything.
    Breakfast, preparing, toilet and so on.
    2. Luggage - pack your back properly and fix it tight on your bike. Make sure that all the things, which you going to need on the road are in the easy to access position.
    3. Fuel - always refill the bike before you go to sleep so you are not going to waste your time in the mornings.
    4. Timing - ride strict. Make the brakes and refueling at the same time. Never ride more than 2 hours without stopping and never stop for more than 30 min. In both case you are losing your concentration. Riding on high speed to recover the time will not help, it’s opposite you can make an accident and your journey will over.
    5. Food - always have a nice breakfast. It will help you to ride until lunch without think about food. Eat as light is possible. Things like big steaks or Mc Donald’s are not the right choice. Keep some chocolate bars or nuts in your pocket in the case you need some energy.
    6. Water - drink a lot of water. Use Camel back instead of normal bottle. With Camel back you are able to drink at any time, with bottle only when you stop. When you riding your body consume double more water than usual.
    7. Back pack - keep it as light is possible. Even 2 kg will be a problem in some stage. At the end the back pack will finish in the garbage or tight on the tale of your bike. I recommend to use military vest instead of backpack. The vest split the weight around your body and it’s not a problem to wear it all day.
    8. Coffee - the coffee is very powerful stimulant. Some people can’t live without it. If possible stop it before the trip, if not bring enough. On the destinations like Asia is not easy to find. Coffee addiction is real and you don’t want to test it on the way.
    9. Communication - if you riding in a group set a Bluetooth system. You can connect up to 8 devices. If you are alone use ear plugs. They make the journey much easier. Some times after long day ride I go to bed, close my ayes, but I can’t sleep. I have this noise in my head - bu bi bu. All of this will be avoided if you use ear plugs.
    10. Stop on time - it’s mean to have enough time to find a place to sleep, to unload you bike to have a dinner, check the map for the next day and maybe to see something of the area you are staying. All of this will ensure enough time for a good night sleep and you will be ready to start on the next morning fresh like a baby.

    I have an tips that helped me on my last ride.
    Drinking lemonade (drank 1L and then sun set) kept me fresh and I didn't felt tired even once on my 420km trip when temperatures were 43'C.
    Lemonade + Earplugs = No tiredness
    Don't drink carbonated drinks or even red bull.
    In Asian countries (am from India) try to ride too slow inside towns you may not know when cattle, child's and grownup dumb adults come in centre of road.

    Tip number one always get up early enough to check on everything required. Make a detailed note of those matters before you go to bed so you can get a good nights sleep without worrying that you have forgotten anything. Never leave it to the day you start. Thats the day you commence your adventure.on the bike, Make sure you have forgotten nothing Bike prepared, luggage water food maps etc. before you set off.
    If you set off in the dark remembers that as the sun comes up it will be low in the sky for some time so be prepared for it. If riding towards it shield the eyes and if you a cast a long shadow in front of you and you are chasing that shadow realise that the sun is behind you and that other drivers ahead cannot see you even if they look directly at you as they will be blinded by the sun.. Take care this is a dangerous time to ride.
    The same applies in the evening when again the sun goes low so if still riding at that time remember to also take great care. Dont just go gunning it into an accident. Thats the easiest way to have a collision. Better hitting something when slower rather than faster and never ever presume that you have been seen.

    I lift weights and walk/run at least 3-4 times per week. We just got back from a 5-day, 5 state, and 1,700 miles motorcycle trip. I literally could hardly get out of bed the first 3 days after returning (SO achy and sore). Also, the 2 guys that I was with wanted to do nothing but ride!! Pulling over to take a brake, or a picture, or simply to admire something beautiful was a total pain in the ass to them!! I felt so rushed the entire time! We had fun, but don't ride too many miles in a day and visit with whoever you're going with about what the "game plan" is going to b ahead of time!!!

    Superb points Pavlin, here's another one, keep the number of riders even, it helps when choosing accommodation. No one wants to be on his own when others have room mates, unless your room mate snores like a chainsaw in a rain forest. I try to keep to a maximum of four riders, any more and you will take risks, especially in cities, when you do not want to be left behind at traffic lights. Ride safe everybody and remember. KEEP IT SHINYSIDE UP........

    Thanks for another great video. I learn useful info from each of them. Want to share something I do before I leave each stop. I'm not a germ freak, but there are so many nasty things we touch during our stops.... door handles, fuel nozzles, etc; all of which ends up inside our gloves. I carry a small bottle of hand sanitizer in my tank bag. A couple of drops before putting on my gloves may help avoid a trip ending illness. Looking forward to your future videos

  • @Alan-xy2vb
    @Alan-xy2vb 7 лет назад

    Of all these tips the bonus tip is the most important - it should be top of the list. Everything else is variable and depends on the person doing the riding.I've had a few 4000 km (4 nights) trips over the years and a few shorter 1600 km (1 night) ones well with shorter trips with partner on board. We spoilt ourselves and bought a trailer and we tend to bush camp overnight for free when on the road. I tend to ride and take a break for about 10 minutes every 100km or about every 1 hour and depending on temps it may be more often. Taking fluids and stretching the legs at the same time is what I found works best for me.600 km would be a full day for us e.g. 300km ride to dad's place, spend 3 or 4 hours with him and the return ride in the afternoon and getting home around 7 or 8 pm ( about 12 hours total).

  • @georgepapadopoulos9948
    @georgepapadopoulos9948 7 лет назад

    Well said. Personally, my limit on the highway is max 10 hrs. As for the back pack, I tend to leave it a bit loose so most of the weight sits on the rear sit.

    Great tips. Just one thing on tip no. 9-- ear plugs could have us detached from the traffic flow or when some vehicle closely coming behind. Loose plug should be fine.

    • @arturothecook
      @arturothecook 7 лет назад +4

      ashok b that is a common mistake. Ear plugs don't really prevent you from hearing most sounds around you. They help you save your hearing because the wind and monotone sound of your bike damages the inner ear. I always wear them everywhere I go and can hear everything around me.
