Over the course of the lifetime of a computer mouse, the buttons can be pressed for tens of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of times! These button switches, unfortunately don't last forever because they wear out over time. Instead of buying a new mouse, in this video I will show you how to replace the faulty push button with a cheap, brand new one!
Not all USB mice are made with the exact same type of tactile button switch, so make sure you buy the right one! (it's not that hard, what, matters is the number of metal legs/leads/pins, and the size)

i'll buy a new mouse instead
idk what to do because my mouse is real expensive
Fantastic. Repairing things instead of throwing them away, what a great and environmental friendly thing to do!
Yup. And the switch is from something else I took apart.
If I had to do it again, it would probably take less than half an hour, worth the reduction in my carbon footprint!
I have the same mouse of you're video and have a problem in the on and off switch; The mouse don't maintain the on light.
If you've replaced the battery, that sound like it could be a few different issues and I would just buy a new one.
ahhh the husky small screwdriver, sucks ye can't find that specific one anywhere anymore
It's fantastic, I've used it everyday for years and bought a similar one.
what if its not the clicking its the scrolling? time to buy a new mouse?
If you can't get the replacement part then yes
My mouse has no screw
That's odd, maybe there are clips holding it closed
Nvm your fix was for scroll wheel but I need a fix for my left click button it’s the only button that won’t work
It's the same procedure, you just replace the left button. Note that I replaced the clickable button of the scroll wheel, not the scrolling sensor thing
Yonatan24 ok thx

my mouse has a complex problem with it. So let me describe it to u.
Firstly all the buttons clicks work that is left ,right and middle shortclicks work.
and also the scroll works and also the drag works.
BUT the problem comes only when i click and hold my middle mouse button and with holding that button i drag my mouse all around. when i do this what happens is my cursor moves perfectly but my middle mouse click will not always be in "clicked" state in my computer It will fluctuate from on and off state in my computer. SO this is the only problem i hv other than this my mouse works perfectly fine. AND ABOVE ALL MY MOUSE IS BRAND NEW MOUSE I HV JUST BOUGHT IT.
I am concentrating on this problem because i use blender 2.8 . and if u know blender even a little bit then u will understand my problem.
Weird. Sorry I don't know a solution for that.
Thanks u, i didn’t had that complex problem but it show me enough to fix mine problem
Hey, do you know where I can get the OTHER push-button switches in your mouse? The black ones with the red small button except with THREE solder pins? One of those died in my beloved trackball which is discontinued. Thanks.
Yes, I linked to them in the kit: kit.co/Yonatan24/broken-mouse-repair-what-you-need-computer-mouse-parts
I've been able to find these being used only in computer mice, so if you have another defective one you could replace one.
i cant seem to find the screw to unscrew the lid off, any other ideas? (I'm not sure if you can even take the 'lid' off or not, my mouse is weird)
That's odd. I'd make sure there aren't any more stickers or pads, maybe also spring/clip things.
Cant find the screw on the dk201
Did you remove all of the stickers and rubber covers? There could also be a plastic clip that needs prying.
I will try the same, thanks.
BTW, if you don't want to use the solder, the microswitch is fixable, can be open by utility knife or sth thin and hard, it may get rust which is easy to fix.
Thanks. Risky, but might be worth trying!
i read that wrong at first... "if you don't want to use the solder, the microwave is... lol
That's fine but what to do when there is a double click instead of one, I'm just right now suffering from this problem.
There might be an option in your computers' settings that you can change to make the mouse less sensitive, but if that doesn't help, the issue is very likely with the button itself, which you'll need to replace. Let me know if you need any more help! :)
The problem is as old as contacts themselves, it was solved about 50 years ago, it is called "contact bounce" and should be done purely programmatically. But they don't.

NICE :)
This happened to my g402 I’ll try to fix it tomorrow with your tutorial
Let me know how it works out!
my g402 broke too like 2 weeks ago the whole sensor just got wierd and the mouse is like really shaky but now i have an other mouse
It's possible a bit of dust just got in the sensor. If you have nothing to loose since it isn't working, try blowing on it through a straw and see if it makes a difference.
If not, sensor might need to be replaced.
dude my g402's middle button stopped working too
Uh-oh. Maybe try this and let me know if it worked?
