    The podcast title is “how to remove microplastics from the body”. The majority of this podcast is “how to avoid microplastics”, which is something most of us watching are already aware of.
    According to the guest, the methods to remove microplastics from the body include using a sauna, exercising, and exposing oneself to sunlight, which can promote sweating.
    However, very little was said about the fate of microplastics embedded in fat cells. When fat is metabolized for energy, it's not clear how the enclosed microplastics are expelled from the body.
    Simply burning fat doesn't necessarily eliminate microplastics, as they might be released into the bloodstream and relocated within the body.
    Will antioxidants and chelators help capture these microplastics? potentially using supplements like activated charcoal or chlorella in conjunction with sauna use.
    The instructions and mechanisms were not well-defined, leaving uncertainties about the efficacy and process of these methods. Was expecting more from this guest

They adjusted for several cofounding factors: age, sex, history of hypertension, diabetes mellitus Body mass index ,Smoking status . Alcohol status , Education level, Exercise level. Sleep duration, Work - day shift, night shift, or shift work. After adjusting for confounding factors, skipping breakfast significantly increased the risk of mortality from circulatory diseases [hazard ratio (HR) = 1.42] and all causes (HR = 1.43) in men and all causes mortality (HR = 1.34) in women

      But skipping breakfast and IF are two completely different things. Skipping sounds more like an unhealthy habit that by definition people not concerned with health do, not a conscientious diet decision in hopes of achieving a more healthy state, so you say nothing about the diet of the skipping breakfast group with should be very important.

    • @jackbuaer3828

      @@BIOHACKING_ARGENTINA Well, one theory is that the harm caused by skipping breakfast is unrelated to diet quality.
      "A new Tel Aviv University study now pinpoints the effect of breakfast on the expression of "clock genes" that regulate the post-meal glucose and insulin responses of both healthy individuals and diabetics.
      The importance of the body's internal clock and the impact of meal times on the body were the subject of this year's Nobel Prize for Medicine, awarded for the discovery of molecular mechanisms controlling our circadian rhythm.
      Our study shows that breakfast consumption triggers the proper cyclic clock gene expression leading to improved glycaemic control," Prof. Jakubowicz says. "The circadian clock gene not only regulates the circadian changes of glucose metabolism, but also regulates our body weight, blood pressure, endothelial function and atherosclerosis."
      This TAU study was led by Prof. Daniela Jakubowicz of TAU's Sackler Faculty of Medicine and Wolfson Medical Center's Diabetes Unit. It was conducted in collaboration with Prof. Julio Wainstein and Dr. Zohar Landau of TAU's Sackler Faculty of Medicine and the Wolfson Medical Center's Diabetes Unit; Prof. Itamar Raz and Prof. Oren Froy of The Hebrew University of Jerusalem; and Prof. Bo Ahrén of Lund University in Sweden. It was recently published in Diabetes Care.

    I would like to ask where is the study that shows UV breaks down microplastics in the body? We know there are studies showing it does to some extent in the environment, but only to a small degree, or else we would not have such a huge marine microplastics issue or now in vegetables, but I could not find any study that shows it gets broken down to a significant extent inside the body. Sure, its possible if there are microplastics in surface layers of skin that UV could reach it, but deeper in the body (organs, heart, adipose tissue) when we know that UV does not penetrate deeply as would infrared or red light, so I remain skeptical of this speculation.

  • @scottk1525
    @scottk1525 Месяц назад +3

    So on the one hand, he says that our bodies did not evolve to handle or dispose of plastics, but on the other hand, he lists a long list of things that "break up" and remove plastics (sunshine, exercise, sweating, intermittent fasting etc..) What is he basing these claims on? How on Earth would autophagy dispose of microplastics? Autophagy is when a cell recycles its own parts. What does this have to do with disposing of microplastics, which are outside of cells?

    • @SiimLand
      @SiimLand  Месяц назад +7

      Having evolved to encounter certain stressors and being able to eliminate them is not mutually exclusive. We know from studies the body can excrete many chemicals, including BPA via sweat. Autophagy also occurs outside of cells as there are many different types of autophagy such as virophagy and xenophagy of bacteria so it's not out of the realm of possibility there's some response to microplastics

    • @scottk1525
      @scottk1525 Месяц назад +3

      @@SiimLand Just seems kind of vague and hypothetical. Specifically his claim that IF is effective at removing microplastics. I wish he had gone more into the specific mechanisms and/or discussed some studies (if there are any.) We don't even know if short-term IF has any significant effects on autophagy.
      The presence of BPA in sweat doesn't necessarily mean that sweating "removes" microplastics from our tissues. It might just mean that sweat contains microplastics just like many other tissues in the body. It doesn't mean that sweating removes meaningful amounts of them from tissues, arteries, fat cells, etc.
      It's like if they found that saliva contains microplastics (which it probably does) and so somebody concluded that we should be spitting a lot to "remove" them from our system.
      Also his claim that being in a sauna "speeds up" cellular processes is pretty thin, and make me question his calculus. Sure, technically that's true, but is the minor increase in movement for 20-30 minutes really going to move the needle for processes that are presumably already occurring at a given speed around the clock? Maybe maybe not, but it seems like he's just using armchair logic.

    • @pergamX
      @pergamX Месяц назад +1

      @@scottk1525 well there certainly are studies showing increased elimination of various toxins by using saunas, and not only through sweat - actually there is data showing that using saunas increases toxin elimination through urine and bowels as well. So that is a proof of concept that it DOES actually detoxify the body over baseline elimination. Now, weather there is specific data on saunas and microplastics elimination, i don't know, but it would be reasonable to assume there would be some effect.

    • @scottk1525
      @scottk1525 Месяц назад

      @@pergamX " *but it would be reasonable to assume there would be some effect.* "
      I disagree. That's not science, that's armchair theory. Just because you lazily group, anything and everything that is harmful to the body under the heading of "toxins" that doesn't mean that each one of them behaves exactly like any other, especially when it comes to something artificial and inorganic like plastic.

      Let me help… if you boost your cellular AMPK capacity(research:fasting and exercise is one, nutraceuticals are the other), the only thing you need to do is avoid sugar metabolizing by embracing keto and thus; “lower chronic insulin allows this to reverse.” Very simply if you can accommodate for the required conditions consistently. “Fasting, exercise, sugar/insulin-boosting avoidance. Plus adequate nutrition and healing/balancing nutraceuticals”can ‘burn’ plaque out. Especially when you master the Sun->skin-exposure component.
      Let’s not forget hormone->testosterone management.

    • @X-Sannin117
      @X-Sannin117 Месяц назад

      There’s more details but use your brain. Sun is obviously, basically a Vitamin D component but there is more benefit to Sun than just the ‘D’. Also, D vitamin levels can be complex to understand how to simply get right. D is a hormone, like Melatonin. Very powerful but not to be played with and need to understand how to get them to work properly with your body to everything it can without harming homeostasis too dramatically. Quite simply but you HAVE to use your brain to understand the complexity of making such things work for you consecutively to find the sufficient results down the line from beginning effective implementation.

  • @brienq

    I was surprised no mention was made of the toxic heavy metal antimony found in both PET plastic bottles and in polyester clothing. I did the math and one average sized vitamin bottle contains 8 mg of antimony (they are often made with PET, but not always, sometimes its polypropylene). It is also used for water bottles, but leaching is not very significant. It is showing a danger as a leachate from landfills and municipal incineration and body burdens of antimony are going up. It has similar toxicity characteristics to other heavy metals though it is not as toxic to the same degree.

    fungus, bacteria, and meal worms that can break down plastic exist naturally the issue is making them more prevalent and efficient before a global exponential increase in plastic use occurs, colonizing landfills and the ocean in advance (inability to use plastics in the wild is better than not having a wild)

    • @gameandsnacks6279
      @gameandsnacks6279 14 дней назад

      note the fungus can use bacteria as a symbiotic part of their immune system and the worms can be a vector for spores in some instances, side thought a gut biome that can digest plastic in humans maybe possible but designer gut life is very complicated to develop, just adding an idea cause sweating it out isnt very through and while bpa isnt uv stable or chemically resistant it got into you because of that, and more light will not directly help, though there maybe some binding agent that would make it leave the body

So you can do it for your hair or skin, you will inject the growth factors anyway and even if you still have some particles, you still got rid of through the filtered blood part. Also drawing blood monthly in this sort of manner is probably contribute to anti aging also by getting rid of axcess iron. not discussed much about it but women's benefit in terms of aging exists as long as they get their cycles. Hydrophobic particles will tend to clump together in the aqueous regions of the body, but as another commenter said, the concern should be their being embedded in fat cells.
