This is actually the only thing I purchased from RID and I'm not sure how I got my mom to get me both! To be clear, I really wasn't on board with the Unicron Trilogy or RID, but the design of Omega Prime, coupled with just the name (given the lore of Beast Wars which is my favorite) Omega Prime made this a necessary purchase. I'm glad I still have mine. If I didn't this too would be a necessary purchase! Like you said, glad for the RID fans!
A new Car Robots/RiD 2001 Black Convoy/Scourge would be cool, especially since they made their first big-screen appearance and first mainstream return in a long long time recently.
@@loganmorales5568 way back in the 2000’s. When Rail Racer didn’t sell well. Americans don’t care about trains as much as the Japanese do. So making characters that are exclusively trains will only appeal to the Japanese market. It’s why Takara is doing the Masterpiece trainbots.

I hope the somewhat obscure and much overlooked RiD/Car Robots series get a bit more love in the future. The franchise actually owes quite a lot to that show, regardless of its percieved quality and handling in the west.
I've got the OG figures in perfect state and man, omega prime is such a beautiful piece of craft, it looks badass and the material quality is phenomenal.
This is the most I've been excited for a figure, possibly ever! Truly a figure I never expected but one that tickles just right. Modern transformers may not be perfect but it's the passion that goes into these figures that keeps it alive! I've been a fan of transformers since I was 6 and it's things like this that always keep me invested in the franchise.
I have the complete original one so I’m not sure I’d get this as it looks to be almost identical outside of the obvious advanced engineering and articulation. There doesn’t seem to be any electronic functions either. Do the missiles fire and are the tires rubber like the original? My OG tires are disintegrating. Does anyone know where to get replacements? Anyway, it’s a cool figure and I’m happy he’s getting a rerelease. I know there’s a lot of fans of this design and the RiD series in general.
There's no electronics, they've used the space to add better engineering and stability for the combined modes. Also no rubber tires, so they won't disintegrate (like mine also did)
@equest943 He is a tad stiff yeah, though for such an old toy it's honestly better than you might expect. The Omega Prime form though... yeah that thing's always felt kinda flimsy
they much probably won't have any electronics and they cost around 300$, so as much as i love them especially in this refreshed look i'll keep my original ones.

Call it a scam, but it seems reasonable from where I'm sitting. But then again, you couldn't just be happy for those of us who are looking forward to this, so I'm not sure why I even bothered.

I have mixed feelings over this, on one hand i like that we have a new toy of one of the Primes with super modes that was still missing a new figure, but on the other i'm a tad disappointed it's a haslab project and not a retail release

Should've never been a haslab. Poor RID fans got shafted on this. Shame because I loved RID. Fortress Maximus was amazing. This prime slapped. Galvatron went hard. This is going to leave a hole in so many fans collections and that's sad because they honestly crushed this figure.

Hasbro might not even have permission to use this footage here. But there's 4k upscales floating around RUclips, just search for Robots in Disguise 2001 and you'll find 'em.

you'll have to pay 50 maybe 80 ish extra through resellers. no indication if they will sell more and the past haslabs don't show much promise to this one being the exception. the one time they did it apparently sold out in seconds as it was spare stock likely to help with replacement parts
I hope for the next Haslab project. If it is still in the Transformers Universe. I hope Hasbro can create a newer and updated version of Beast Wars Optimal Optimus Primal.

At first glance this almost looks to be a literal reissue of the original without electronics. I don’t think I’m onboard with this. This is hardly a “dream project” and should have just been two commander class releases.
See, you'd think so... But even the Commander class price point has its limits, and might've compromised both these guys pretty majorly. Not to mention there's only 1 Commander a year per line (i.e. Studio Series and Generations), so they'd most likely be released individually at least a year apart, and by then the hype would probably die down for them.

Far from perfect. Ultra Magnus's proportions look horrible. But it's pretty good for what it is.
