Two Autobots, bonded like brothers, yet divided by destiny. Optimus Prime was chosen to be the bearer of the Matrix of Leadership and the next commander of the Autobots, leaving Ultra Magnus scornful and bitter. Ultra Magnus challenged Optimus Prime for possession of the Matrix of Leadership and Autobot command. In the middle of battle, the two combined into a new form: Ultimate Energy Combiner, Omega Prime.

Car robots/rid 2001 fans: this is an absolute win.
It looks like an HD remaster of a toy I played with a ton as a kid at my friend's house. I have infinite nostalgia for this design. I already backed it lol
Only problem: Only Transformers series to never get a DVD release in the US, probably because the series is currently owned by Disney. But maybe that's the case of Digimon The Movie, as they might have been saved by Discotek Media for a future release.

This is actually the only thing I purchased from RID and I'm not sure how I got my mom to get me both! To be clear, I really wasn't on board with the Unicron Trilogy or RID, but the design of Omega Prime, coupled with just the name (given the lore of Beast Wars which is my favorite) Omega Prime made this a necessary purchase.
I'm glad I still have mine. If I didn't this too would be a necessary purchase! Like you said, glad for the RID fans!

Americans don’t care about trains as much as the Japanese do. So making characters that are exclusively trains will only appeal to the Japanese market.
It’s why Takara is doing the Masterpiece trainbots.

Far from perfect. Ultra Magnus's proportions look horrible. But it's pretty good for what it is.

A new Car Robots/RiD 2001 Black Convoy/Scourge would be cool, especially since they made their first big-screen appearance and first mainstream return in a long long time recently.
I hope the somewhat obscure and much overlooked RiD/Car Robots series get a bit more love in the future. The franchise actually owes quite a lot to that show, regardless of its percieved quality and handling in the west.

This is the most I've been excited for a figure, possibly ever! Truly a figure I never expected but one that tickles just right. Modern transformers may not be perfect but it's the passion that goes into these figures that keeps it alive! I've been a fan of transformers since I was 6 and it's things like this that always keep me invested in the franchise.
That is so really freakin Awesome for the whole Transformers Universe series! Can’t wait for that!

@@coomslayer493 maybe it's a scam if you *already* have the original, but even a bad copy of that figure costs $200USD+ nowadays, which is personally why I've never gotten one, despite my interest and nostalgia with the character(s). With the Haslab, and for less than what the current box set of the 01 figures go, we get a bigger figure with more poseability, expected chrome, a whole deluxe figure accessory, all with (at least per the promo) more stability for the combined form. Call it a scam, but it seems reasonable from where I'm sitting.

I have the complete original one so I’m not sure I’d get this as it looks to be almost identical outside of the obvious advanced engineering and articulation. There doesn’t seem to be any electronic functions either. Do the missiles fire and are the tires rubber like the original? My OG tires are disintegrating. Does anyone know where to get replacements? Anyway, it’s a cool figure and I’m happy he’s getting a rerelease. I know there’s a lot of fans of this design and the RiD series in general.
How's the poseability on your armored prime? He always looked kinda stiff to me.
There's no electronics, they've used the space to add better engineering and stability for the combined modes. Also no rubber tires, so they won't disintegrate (like mine also did)
@equest943 He is a tad stiff yeah, though for such an old toy it's honestly better than you might expect. The Omega Prime form though... yeah that thing's always felt kinda flimsy
they much probably won't have any electronics and they cost around 300$, so as much as i love them especially in this refreshed look i'll keep my original ones.

Bro that Optimus is gonna look sick with Legacy Velocitron Scourge they released awhile back. I really hope we got the autobots brothers too! I know Sideburn is guaranteed with that Shadow Striker figure, but I really hope for a update on Prowl. Easily my favorite toy and character growing up as kid
I've got the OG figures in perfect state and man, omega prime is such a beautiful piece of craft, it looks badass and the material quality is phenomenal.
I want this one more than the other sets.

I have mixed feelings over this, on one hand i like that we have a new toy of one of the Primes with super modes that was still missing a new figure, but on the other i'm a tad disappointed it's a haslab project and not a retail release
I agree, Prime could have been a stand alone commander, they only made him a haslab to get more money to throw in an ugly magnus and a made up character

Yeah, I need to see more of the transformation and articulation to see what sets this apart from the original. I have mine still and just recently took it down from display. This looks too much like a re-issue with upgrades in certain areas.

I lived in Japan when the Transformers: Car Robot series came out. So I have the original box set. The giant sword only came in the box set, so I'm glad this one does too. I never opened the original, so maybe I'll get this one to open.

these are my 2 favorite Autobots of any series but you cannot charge 300$ for 2 figures, it's just nosense these cost more than a Titan Class. You better fix your prices and quality issues Hasbro.

Doubtful. The licensing's all jumbled up, since Fox owned it, then got acquired by Disney, who far as I can tell have just been sitting on it. So... Hasbro might not even have permission to use this footage here. But there's 4k upscales floating around RUclips, just search for Robots in Disguise 2001 and you'll find 'em.
@lorcan0c yeah it sucks but i collect Japanimation and Transformers series so its a two stones with one bird situation. Just sucks cause i have most other NA releases.
Here some suggestions do Landfill aka the build team all 4 as voyager class and Rail Racer aka team bullet train all 3 of them together as commander class like you did with Magmatron

guys with all the respect please reconsider this haslab is not right for normal fans and just limits the availability for the majority of the people that is something i hate about the haslab model plus taxes and shipping it ends up at 284 for internationals it would be above 315 that is not good for fans of the show he is the main character for a show that airs globally through fox kids and many other channels please do it for the fans is the 40 anniversary

Should've never been a haslab. Poor RID fans got shafted on this. Shame because I loved RID. Fortress Maximus was amazing. This prime slapped. Galvatron went hard. This is going to leave a hole in so many fans collections and that's sad because they honestly crushed this figure.
