I just cracked up when you couldn't get those buckets apart then just lost it when the nozzle came out of the air hose!!!🤣🤣🤣🤣 We've all been there with those damn 5 gallon buckets! All that work, you now have the nicest mailbox and post on the block! That Creality Falcon 2 looks like fun!
I agree, how you epoxied the numbers is very cool. Great job on the mailbox! The. Creality Falcon 2. Wow. What a great tool to have in your arsenal. Thank you!
Nice job! I hope you are open to constructive feedback…. The reason the other post rotted at the top was because of the little piece you cut off the “pyramid”. That’s now a place for rain water to sit. Also, and not really major, but for posts, save your back and power tools. Just pour the concrete in the hole dry and spray it with water. No mixing is needed.
Looks awesome! I especially like the epoxy inlay. But I got a few suggestions: - stainless screws - metal cap for the post (no water on end grain) - decorative lines should be v-grooves (less water standing on end grain) - never put wood into the ground (held above in a galvanized shoe it will last three decades at least, without that, only maybe one)
@@JSAFIXIT Depends on the ground conditions. In a dry area, where wet ground which stays wet for a while is rare, like in Arizona or New Mexico, wood can last very long, but in the Pacific northwest or New England that´s not the case. With a sandbox, which most often is a temporary structure anyway (kids tend to grow up), a reduced lifespan isn´t that much of a concern. But if a structure has to last for a while, at least I shoot for longevity. We have a carport and an awning with wooden uprights, both were build about 40yrs ago and are still standing strong, and we are not in the dryest part of Germany. Galvanized shoes on top of a small concrete pillar. More work, more expensive, but: Build well and you only build once in a lifetime.
Looks great! And way better then anything you could buy. Just a thought 🤔You etched the paint away on the mailbox for your logos... will that not rust the bare metal? or maybe you sealed it?
You should have stuck with bare marine ss for the weed eater guards. The weed eater is going to chop the paint off. Love the epoxy fill for the numbers. White is definitely a good contrast to the stain.
So many..”I would’ve done it this way” comments 🙄 ummm that whole thing was very cool. Wish I had half your tools and I laughed out loud when you threw the bucket and then kicked it lol. I would’ve done that too. You probably have the nicest looking post and mailbox in your hood. 🇺🇸👍🏼
Very Nice! Where I live I can't have something so nice because my mailbox is target practice for baseball bats and hit and runs. 3 times in the last 12 or 13 years. Amazing work though.
It would be cool to engrave the red lever on the front side also where it covers the RE letters so it would wouldnt cover the letters and the word restorations would always be visible. Good job.
I agree with jlovelace486, your neighbors will love to have new mailboxes and posts as well. I like using the epoxy for the numbers as well Tim. Question about the Creality Falcon. I'm guessing you have to program for the thicknesses of the material you are using to cut through the piece, do you also have to program for type of material you are using? Specifically for type of wood since oak is much denser than popular or pine for instance. The weed trimming metal at the base was a stroke of genius. Well done Tim. Cheers from this old retired coot living the dream just north of you in Tennessee.
I can’t speak for the Creality Falcon specifically but for my laser I use Lightburn software as the controller. You pretty much have free reign with the output of laser so you can set it however you’d like depending on the output capacity of your laser head and the materials you use. Most people just wing it and do a lot of testing on scrap material to get the right settings. There are test patterns that will run through almost every setting in one space so you get an idea of what each setting looks like in that specific material. Also there are “libraries” that certain creators share that have materials listed and setting that can be applied. That’s a real time saver.
I missed what type of adhesive that you used. Since this going outside, in the different types of weather, I assumed you use some sort of outdoor adhesive/epoxy.
Very cool! The epoxy numbers were a great idea
Your neighbors are going to want posts just like that. This was a great project to watch.
Absolutely agreed. Was going to say that he could have a fairly thriving business doing projects like this.
Agree, would make a great gift when a realtor sells a home.
I was going to say the neighbours would hate it because it's black and not plain wood
The whole project came out great but the only thing i was thinking was that would be the number 1 target for the snow plow driver

Your technique of measuring and sawing wood is inspiring.
LOVED the "kiced the bucket"! LOL BTW beautiful restoration.
Excellent workmanship. It definitely stands out from all the other houses in the neighborhood due to the quality of work you put into it.
And the colour. I hope he has normal neighbours
With the right tools, anything is possible ...Nice job!

It could be rated for direct ground contact. I build a sandbox for my kids 6 years ago that is still solid, it's in direct contact.

Total enjoyment. Fun to watch you put it all together. Should last a long time.

Buckets-Tic Toc! Ohhhh that was great.
Adding a weed eater guard is a great idea.
Nice little project. I like how that turned out.
Looks great! I sincerely hope you don't have an HOA in your neighborhood 😂
Congratulations, a beautiful work.
Very nicely done. I love the machine you used.

Nice work man!!!
Good job and great video...shame that toy is out of range for most of us...stay safe...captjack...
You kicked the bucket
Nicely done!!
Super Nice Outcome. And Well Executed.
Did you leave the etching in the powder coat on the side of the box and the flag bare or did you fill it in or coat it with something?
I want the Uzi 9mm, the .45 with laser scope and the Creality Falcon in the 40 watt range.
You're not concerned about rust on the engraved parts of the new mailbox?
Very nice mailbox.
absolutely amazing work!
Why do you didn't add the Nr on the upper part of the post? It would be better to see. Otherwise nice new Postboxstand..
That was fun to watch.
Really really impressive 🤩👍
Beautiful job guys
Very nice looks great.
Missed the opportunity to make the numbers glow in the dark.
What is protecting the white epoxy from UV light? Without some sort of UV protection it will disintegrate in a year or so.
great job 👏
Great job
Nice one 👍
What settings did you use to engrave your mailbox?
Top job looks fab
The title is misleading. It was replaced not restored. But it came out beautiful.
Considering they know where the restoration guy lives, are your neighbors going to come to you when they need something fixed?
How does the lazer fare against Buloke Wood
US post boxes aren’t a terrible idea that and there iconic
Beautiful
Buckets win.
Looks great but I don't understand how it's a "restoration"
what is cool for me is my house number is only on under yours Tim. 🙂
The trick to separating 5 gallon buckets is to twist them in opposite directions as you pull them apart. You’re welcome
The other trick to doing ANYTHING the RIGHT WAY is to NOT learn it on tiktok
I thought the trick was to drill a hole in the bottom bucket to release the vacuum pressure 😂
Let me fix the title for you "mailbox support restoration"
If ya gonna do something, do it right. 👌
Nice. 🇦🇺🇦🇺
👍📫📬📬📫📫📬📪📭📪📭📮📮📮👍👍👍😉😉
Beautiful job! Vulcan machine did a great job....
Why are your videos outdated
Your mailbox post is looking rough.
I don’t wish to be “Predantic”, but that’s not exactly a restoration. A beautiful result though all the same
Impressive work, no doubt, but kinda click baity with that thumbnail if you ask me.
I'd been embarrassed too act like that on camera.😢
You should be embarrassed by your grammar.
Surely you mean spelling?@@TRGRESTORATIONS
