The moral of the story?
Don't go around killing people.
That's exactly what I took away from it. It's hard to feel bad for the guy after he murdered and innocent person.

He was probably thinking all night, at least it's not just me, that other poor guy has to go first. And then he wakes up and gets to watch him go home while you prepare to die. That's some nightmare fuel right there
Ya even though he probably deserved it, executions are just plain evil. Especially the psychological aspect of knowing your going to die. A bullet to the head while they are sleeping is more humane than lethal injection. Even though we know it's not a painless way to die we still do it.
Almost as scary as being murdered at work for nothing
@@IsaacMSingleton1 If you knew how many innocent people were executed you would be horrified. The fact that a single person who was innocent was executed should have been enough to abolish the death penalty permanently.
We've executed 190 innocent people in the U.S. and those are only the ones we are aware of. There's definitely a lot more that we just don't have the evidence to prove their Innocence.

Imagine if the attorney or governor thought they knew his time slot was but now it's changed if they're unaware and want to call in a stay of his execution.... they will be too late
This is exactly what happened,, thus a new law was passed because of this one single incident. No more early executions.. period.

I believe they proceeded to take Mathew into the execution chamber and executed him in the middle of his last words (if I remember correctly)

the guy (witness) tried to retract his words but judge refused. Mayhew then told them while he was being strapped that he didnt kill the man (Powell, 70) and proceeds to name 3 other person (Frank, Alfred and John Wayne (witness)) but during that he was already electrocuted.
He has a part two. Remember you can only fill so much in into a short.

The REAL crime is that it takes far too long to see a death sentence carried out! Once proven beyond doubt the individual is guilty and is sentenced to death they should be allowed 30 days to get their affairs in order and then swiftly put to death. Period.
And as long as it's a certainty, then doing it your way is actually MORE humane.

I used to work there and one thing I constantly heard is that people are scared to go into the death house ( that has now been converted to administrative offices ) during the midnight shift.

I would rather die soon then live long in any prison. They are so inhumane that death is a fair choice out for any crime. In my humbling opinion.
