If you need to eat and catch a train for the ferry home, that's an option. A Tesco or better a Waitrose is a better choice. Or the market in front of Kings Cross station. It is close to Liverpool Street station, I would consider it outside rush hour.

Suitcase Monkey thanks very much for your reply. Can u please share some experiences which is suitable for winter time. As we know about British weather . If u share some of the restaurant or cafe where people can spend half of the day and suitable for couple and group.
My favourite has always been ramen at Ittenbari on Brewer Street. I don't get to go to London that often, but every time I go, I made time for a visit to Ittenbari. Last time I was there in November 2019, I found that they closed down. I was so gutted as their ramen always tasted like good old Japanese ramen you find in some family owned old shops in Japan. Do you know anywhere else like that?

I live in London, but I hadn’t heard of most of those places. I'll pass on the cat one.....The chesee one, in Covent Garden, sounds very interesting indeed! I've been at the many restaurants, at the house of Parlament several times, as I was invited, but to be frank, I didn't like the snooty people there, and the politicians! I'm more of a down to hearth kind of person, hence I not longer associated myself with posh people! Now pass me a burger and chips please 😉 🍔🍟
Hey. To be honest I haven’t really had a bad fish and chips and don’t have any that are MUST eat here kinda places. Maybe just do a quick search on google or trip advisor for local to where you are. I would advise adding a battered sausage though! 😁

Thanks. As for afternoon tea I haven’t. To be fair, We’ve been to lots of afternoon tea places and I’ve found that if you’re going to a swanky hotel for one, they are always high quality.
The thought that I am eating in a toilet or where once was a toilet, will kill all the appetite by itself. How can someone eat while looking at the toilet pictures on the opposite wall?!
It’s been renamed. Last I checked they were renovating the cafe. But yes it seems there should be something open or opening soon in that space. Check the Clifton website. And Warwick Avenue.

Out of all of them I'd go for Quince Tree Cafe and Pick and Cheese! LOVE cheese so much, but the cafe looked so amazing!

I would recommend the Petersham Nurseries near Richmond. Fabulous food served in a beautiful environment.

It’s changed it’s name now. The cafe that is in the same place is the same as shown in this video. Just a new name.
