Solid vid - a couple of notes: on some cars it is easier to access this motor from the front right behind the sunroof, then the back. My honda accord has 2 velcro pieces and a magnet you can pull down, and reach the motor Also - the motor opens the sunroof in 2 directions - if the sunroof is popped up like in the video you need to turn the wrench counterclockwise. However, if the sunroof is all the way open, you need to turn the wrench clockwise to close it. Also the final resting position for the sunroof should be somewhere in the middle
Works perfectly. Just remember that when you turn the hex key you could turn it the opposing way to get the opposite effect. I thought this thing was on a continuos loop. It’s not. It’s back and forth Thanks man!! Sealed tight like my ex!
On a 2008 Accord sedan you can access the mechanism similarly by pulling down the head liner aft of the moon roof. You also need to remove the backseat dome light to get more clearance. This is done by prying off its lens and removing two screws on the light fixture. Once you know how… it’s a 5 minute job.
Dude just saved me on a 2008 Acura TSX. I was able to take down the rear light in the headliner, see where the motor was and the 4mm allen key hole, honestly its an old car...I just poked the T Handle 4mm allen key right thru the cardboard headliner...found the hole and turned it until the sunroof closed. Can hardly see the hole and if it happens again just grab the T Handle out of the center console and close it.. Many thanks for this video.
Thanks for the video!!!! I made an easy access hole through my headliner because if I accidently push the sunroof button it will pop my sunroof up and not close. The car is 16 years old so I'm not concerned about a small hole thru the headliner I removed the dome light and pulled the headliner down a few inches and measured 4 inches down from the edge of the dome light rectangular cutout on the headliner. Then drilled a 1/4 inch diameter hole through the headliner and was able to easily insert a T25 torx wrench to manually close the damn thing easily if it ever happens again. To fix it correctly is a completely different adventure if I ever choose to do so. : )
Perfect video absolute genius thank you my brother I'm in a body shop and I just don't have the time to know or figure it out thank you so much big props 👌☝️🙏🏁
I just fixed mine watching this video. Thank you. I don’t think he mentioned you have to take out the rear dome light in order to fully pull down the headliner like in the video. Separately, my 4mm Allen bit wouldn’t fit and I used a 5/32 and that worked. For some reason I went back to the 4mm and it worked. 🤷🏽♂️
I have a 2008 Honda accord but my dome light is in the back in front of the motor how did you take down your dome light ive been trying but I think im going to break it
Isn't that clockwise? Thanks for the video. I particularly appreciate you identifying it as a #4 hex, the four door Accord is tricky to get to so I'm glad I didn't have to do a trial-and-error method of finding the right tool tip.
Do you need to take out the lighting components like you did to get to the sunroof motor? I get maybe taking off the rear most light but is the front necessary to take off to access the motor in the back?
I went to Honda today to see about getting this fix on my 09 coupe but had to set an appt for tomorrow. $140 JUST to do a diagnostic tomorrow. WTF! I'm doing this myself. I don't care about opening it ever again once I close it.
VW left a hex key and convenience place for people to manually close the sunroof. It is easy to have a little hole on headliner and manual instruction for owners to close sunroof manually for an emergency cause as rain, cold weather, etc...
My niece was playing with my car keys and somehow managed to have the windows go down with no one in the car and the sunroof did this had to call out of work because it’s suppose to rain all day hope this works I’m headed to the store to get the tools now
Used this to replace my motor. Unfortunately have not worked out the close/open relay issue. It won’t open all the way fully and can only close it by using the switch without the open relay bc it just opens back up
would this work for a fully open sunroof. I have the four door sedan and sunroof is all the way open and stuck. I went to honda and they told me it'll be $2000 to get it fixed. so will this work if it's open all the way???
Your video helped a family of 5 save hundreds of dollars! May God bless you!
You’re the man, no one was posting about coupes but you just blessed me 🙏

Thank you thank you so much! We were able to do this ourselves after your video!
Have you tried to use it since?

And, BTW: Thank You for your video!
Thank you!
Your video was the only one that really helped! We fixed our stuck sun roof, thanks to you!

Did your sunroof work afterward?
Thank God you posted this

been looking off and on for a manual way to shut this for years. Thank you so much
Drill an access hole through your headliner and keep a T25 torx wrench handy.
My man! I have the same exact car with same exact problem after changing my sunroof seal. Thank you!
Dude. Thank you. For taking the time to make this video. Really helpful.
OMFG!! Thank you soo much dude! 2013 Civic Coupe here! Honda was about to charge me 1500 for the replacement and now it got it closed! 😆
Is did work on Honda Civic 2013 ex if it’s just cracked open ?
Dude thanks for posting this video literally had my sun roof like this for weeks just closed it now what a relief 🤝✅
Perfect video absolute genius thank you my brother I'm in a body shop and I just don't have the time to know or figure it out thank you so much big props 👌☝️🙏🏁
Worked like a charm! If only I looked this up 7 months ago when it first was stuck. lmao took like 10 minutes to fix
Thank you for this video, saved me a ton of stress and money.
So thankful for you bro, my shit is stuck open and it’s gonna down pour all day tomorrow, just got it closed in time 🙌 thank you

Greatest video ever. Thank you
Thank you for this!
Thanks for the video! Very helpful in resolving this issue.

it was counterclockwise - if the sunroof is open in the other direction (fully to the back) then you need to turn it clockwise
Thank you very much for posting.
Worked for me
I subscribed 👍🏻
This video came in clutch thank you
Eff yeah thanks dude you saved me $130 in labor alone. That's the price the body shop quoted me to permanently shut my sunroof, not even to fix it.
For anyone wondering, this is exactly the same on the 09+ (2nd gen) TSX.
Do you need to take out the lighting components like you did to get to the sunroof motor? I get maybe taking off the rear most light but is the front necessary to take off to access the motor in the back?
Same thing w/ me, motor works, the ball bearing are shot for some reason
I went to Honda today to see about getting this fix on my 09 coupe but had to set an appt for tomorrow. $140 JUST to do a diagnostic tomorrow. WTF! I'm doing this myself. I don't care about opening it ever again once I close it.
Yeah same here. I closed it and unplugged the motor so I don't accidentally open it again.
They charged me $160 for diagnostic today AND DIDNT EVEN CLOSE IT. They also said it would cost $2100 to replace the motor 🤯
VW left a hex key and convenience place for people to manually close the sunroof. It is easy to have a little hole on headliner and manual instruction for owners to close sunroof manually for an emergency cause as rain, cold weather, etc...
Worked great thanks
My niece was playing with my car keys and somehow managed to have the windows go down with no one in the car and the sunroof did this had to call out of work because it’s suppose to rain all day hope this works I’m headed to the store to get the tools now
Came in clutch bro but can you send me a amazon link or where can i get it
Thanks for the video had the same problem today
Works for 2013 Honda Civic EX. Just two headliner pins and an Allen wrench. be gentle so you don't crease your headliner.
I fucking love you man. You just saved my ass
Used this to replace my motor. Unfortunately have not worked out the close/open relay issue. It won’t open all the way fully and can only close it by using the switch without the open relay bc it just opens back up
Life saver, thanks my dude 🤙
Would this work for 4 cylinder 4 door 2008
Should be similar, would probably have an extra dome light since it has rear seats though.
Thank you... you just save me!
4/3024 7:13pm
Is this the same for a 2009 Accord? Thank you.
Damn dude!!!! You rock
Did you find out why that happened? Did you replace the motor? Thanks
Thank you!
My plug that goes to switch to open and close roof isn't getting power how to hot wire plug to roof switch to see if roof works?
would this work for a fully open sunroof. I have the four door sedan and sunroof is all the way open and stuck. I went to honda and they told me it'll be $2000 to get it fixed. so will this work if it's open all the way???
Yes, it will close it no matter how far open it is
@@MrVelozity thank you!!!
I just did mine. Had to remove the dome light first. There is a video on here how to do that as well.
I tried it with accord 2011 crosstour but didn't find the motor, any advice?
Bout to give it a try
thank you bro
Thank you for the video, but I wanna get mine done. Could you please write down the name of the tool you used ?
Size 4 hex key/ socket.
Did you find the problem?? Same thing happened to me today...
On mine the motor seems to freeze in the "vented position" besides that it works fine
But why that happened is keep happening to me whyyyyyy
Can we pop the roof back into place? Or will it continue to hang down
It can be popped back into place
I thank you so much for the great vid and my wallet does too🙂
My sunroof got stuck at 1am. Was tooooo tired to fix. Woke up and my car was gone 😔
Thx bro
Which tool it was? I need to fix it mine !
Bro thank you so much I just fixed my sun roof due to this video. Life saver 💪🏾🫡
Is the sunroof motor behind the rear interior light or in front of it ??
On the coupe it's behind the motor, close to the rear windshield
Thank you :)
