BuckeyeNation!....How many power 5 games have Bama and Miss state played. 8 What a joke. You wonder why the Pac 12. BIG 10 and Big 12 have missed out on playoff. They play 9 conference games plus schedule much tougher games . Also the 3 Conference's that have missed out on playoff are playing 1 to count them 4 more power 5 schools per year than ACC and SEC. Miss st played lol. If Alabama played 12 we all know they have another loss and for miss st they probably might not even be in a bowl. Oh and for LSU, they lost to no powers Troy lol @ home. But must be great cause in SEC. Anyways let's not play amazing non conference games like we did and schedule 2 Mercers on their place and I promise you we both get in every year.

BuckeyeNation! It sounds to me like you already know that answer, and it’s completely irrelevant to the argument. There are weak Division 1 teams, so just because they don’t play anyone from the FCS doesn’t mean their schedule isn’t weak. There’s a reason they didn’t make the playoffs this year despite only having one loss.
I hope the committee screws up! This way they can look into an 8-team playoff

8 teams would be way better. Champions of the 5 power conferences get seats and 3 wild cards. Seating would be based on ranking.
The real tragedy with 4 is that too many deserving teams get left off. With 8 seats the fringe team at 9 will be less deserving than the fringe team at 5.

Anyone watching this please go back to when Klatt was on Cowherd last week. The only thing he got right is that Wisconsin is for real. Called Auburn terrible, thought Georgia would roll over them, didn't think ND-Miami would be close (in ND's favor) and said Michigan State is the best of the Big 10 East. Right now its the sweet spot for Miami. Commentators, analysts & critics still keep understating Miami. Keep it going. You don't understand how Miami works when its being disrespected and more so when they have the swag back. Yap all you want, Miami will keep showing up & shutting your mouths 1 by 1.

The Syracuse win against Clemson was a treat to watch went to that game hoping for just a decent performance and I got to witness one of the greatest upsets of all time
The fundamental FACT about having a committee to pick ONLY 4 teams, to determine a "True" champion is a JOKE and an insult to every other level of football, and sports in general. High School: 32 team playoff. Div 2 NCAA College Football: 32 team playoff. Div 3 NCAA College Football: 32 team Playoff. NFL: 37% of teams make the playoffs. Div 1 NCAA Football: 4 teams picked by the "Opinion" of a committee(2% of teams). Division 1 is a JOKE when it comes to determining a true champion and it is a shame that everyone has chugged ESPN's Kool-Aid on accepting this system. ESPN and the SEC Network are owned by Disney, so that probably explains why the fans are accepting Div 1 as a "Fantasy Football League". Sad.

I know there's a contract to keep the playoffs at 4 teams for like 10 years but I see that being broken fairly quick
The only reason I think the committee put Clemson in is cuz they won last year. It's like how every year after a champion wins they are one of the favorites to win, just look at Denver last year in the NFL, people still thought they could repeat even though they went 9-7 or something. It's just picking the old champs.

Alabama, Clemson, and Miami fans would totally disagree with these guys. The rankings are so subjective that it's nearly impossible to please anyone. They should rank unbeaten teams at the top, without a doubt, because that part is objective, not subjective. Anyone with an "L" on their records should fall in line after the undefeated accordingly. At least that would show a little consistency
Steven & Tracey Jiles only issue would be a team like UCF getting rewarded for being unbeaten when their only signature win is against navy..now it were jus the top 10 that followed that guideline then I can understand..especially with the way this season has gone, any of those teams could beat the others on any given day
With your logic college teams would schedule easy opponents so they could go undefeated. The committee has said it over and over. "If you want in the top four schedule good teams and beat them"

Clemson lost to Syracuse and while they didn’t have their qb, Clemson still has the superior talent and coaching. I do agree though, we should be 2. But let them rank us lower. That should keep them hungry and focused. Nobody wants the pressure of being #1 lol. I know we’ve got a lot of upperclassmen on that d line, but we’ve also got a lot of freshman and who knows how they’ll handle all that attention.

Trae X I’m a huge Michigan fan, born and raised, but Michigan just isn’t the team they used to be. They are pretty pathetic this year and fully expect them to get beat by Wisconsin. It’ll be a decent win for Wis, but definitely not a power win where the voters will say, “ok, Wisconsin deserves a spot in the playoffs”. Just my opinion, I could be wrong.

After the games of 11/25: 1: Wisconsin (all they've done is win every game they've played), 2: UCF (see note on Wisconsin), 3: Oklahoma (three marquee wins, two of which came on the road), 4: Georgia (pretty much by default).

We can limit the committees power very easy. Win your conference and you are in. Add a conference so it becomes 6 Power Conferences. NFL playoff format with #1,#2 get byes 3 vs 6, 4 vs 5.

Maybe some of these teams that complain about their standing should schedule tougher non conference games to showcase themselves. Its also more enjoyable to watch more competitive games instead of most of the games that are stomps. How can you rank teams accurately when you havent seen them play tough teams consistently.

There needs to be an 8 team playoff. Five conference winners and 3 at large teams. If you win your conference you deserve to go the the playoff. Period. Then you have 3 teams who are able to sneak in i.e. Ohio State and Western Michigan last year.
I told people Notre Lame was overrated. Clemson will be next to fall.
Would love to see Oklahoma offense vs Miami defense. That would be fun. Top vs top. Hopefully that’s the championship. Best qb in the last perhaps 10 yrs vs Miami crazy defense.

The only way to avoid all this backlash is to use a simple formula. List all the undefeated Power 5s first. Every year. And be consistent with it.
So with that in mind:
1. Alabama 2. Miami
3. Wisconsin and then the rest.
People will still gripe. But it's like a bad umpire in baseball. As long as your strike zone is consistency bad for both teams it offsets.
If they used that base formula people may not like it, but it's consistent and it is what it is.

The Playoff Committee wanted a Clemson/Alabama rematch so bad they could taste it, and BOTH teams got exposed this week!
That whole playoff can change with 4 games.

At that point 2 loss Pac 12 Big 10 could be in.

I think people just need to re program the way they think about the rankings. These are not polls, you don't move up or down. Every week is a clean slate.
They're complaining about Ohio State possibly getting back in, but Auburn is 6th right now with 2 losses.

3-Wisconsin
4-Auburn
5-Alabama
6-Georgia
If auburn played Clemson right now auburn would beat them after watching this team improve after starting 5-2
If a one loss Pac 12 champion in Washington could make the playoff with a weak schedule in 2016, why can't an undefeated Big 10 champion in Wisconsin make it in 2017? If Wisconsin wins out, they are in.

Time to forgo the ranking system and just get the top 16 teams in a playoff series.
The main reason why Joel Klatt doesn’t like the rankings is because the committee is a part of ESPN and he works for their competitor FOX sports. So of course he thinks the committee never gets anything right.

Does it matter what the seedings are? All that matters is that you make the playoffs.

Last week Joel said he didn't think Auburn was that good.
Auburn has a better offense than Alabama? Just stop it. Jalen Hurts QBR is 84.1 to Stidham's 73.0. Damien Harris's yards per carry is 8.2 to Kerryon Johnson's 5.3. It's not even close. Alabama's offense is in a totally different league. And they have like 3 turnovers on the entire season. Their chance of beating Auburn is at least 90%.

Notice how the two most dominant teams in the playoff era get the most hate, Alabama and Clemson. These programs in recent years dominate on the big stage and will probably play again in the title. People wanna see them fall so badly its hilarious.
i dotn think its that, I can only speak for myself but I think its guarding agaisnt giving them too much credit for last year. Rankings this year should reflect gameplay this year. I have no problem with bama at #1, but apply the same standards uniformly to all the teams. THey arent and thats what people are yelling about. Should Alabama and Clemson just be ranked 1 and 2 for all time because of 2016? Cmon.
