My sisters other half has a 330e and the economy in that is unbelievable considering it has a 2.0 engine with an electric motor ,these new BMW’s are just fantastic 👍
I'm going to say it again, but I loved my 2010 330d coupé. For the two of us, I couldn't fault it. Comfortable, economical and for me, the 3lt engine was a peach. Ooodles of torque to get past most traffic with ease and most importantly, safely. And if I ever went out and felt like a "good drive", then it obliged with realish :-))... As for the new 3 series, I think they're really great. And unlike a lot of people, I do like the 4 series big grill. It's really grown on me and harks back to the BMW's of the late 50's and early 60's. Nice one PP :-))...
I have a ten year old like this with 140 k miles and it’s still driving like new, the 4 wheel drive is excellent for the bad weather we have in Scotland.
Left my Mini in for a service recently, And I too got the BMW 3 series..it was a gorgeous car, drove beautiful smooth as, fabulous cabin too...my hubby fell in love with it he had a 5 series way back ... but he ain’t got the cash for it .....maybe one day ..one a really really nice motor
I had a 520d a few years ago when I was doing 35,000 miles a year. Superb car, very reliable, extremely comfortable, drive well, handled well and just amazing mpg. I regularly got 55-60mpg. I'm not a BMW fanboy ( I know how to use indicators) , but every other Audi or Mercedes driver on the road seems to assume you are and treats you like dirt on their shoe, chops you up on motorways and roundabouts. So I eventually got rid of it and bought a 5 year old Range Rover Sport and love it. I drive sensible and nobody bothers me.
I have a 330e arriving the first week of September and as a company car the 330e gives great performance at the lowest company car tax. Diesel is 38% BIK the 330e is 10% rising to 12% in year 3 for a car that will do 0-60 in 5.9 secs!
Absolutely. I like the way my black e91 s series looks but the paint has been wrecked over the years and the marks show up so much. The car looks filthy in no time and not to mention it gets stinking hot on a summer's day. The paint gets so hot to the touch that on a scorcher touching the metal parts of the car risks actually burning your skin off and that's not an exaggeration. I watched an insect land on the car once and it sizzled instantly. I'll never buy another black car again (even though I think my car looks pretty menacing and awesome in black). I see videos from hot countries, like USA or UAE, where people spec cars in black from new and I just think they're utterly bonkers. To make the point; I used to have a neighbour with a white 118D. The car was parked in the sun and it was a 30 degree c day. I touched the roof of that car and it was cool to touch. I didn't even try to touch the the roof of my car, I could already feel the heat waves just by standing near it.
My last car was a 320d m sport touring. It was the perfect do-it-all daily. I had it from 96k to 144k and it returned 52mpg on a run, and almost 40mpg around town. It was refined, fast enough for 90% of situations, comfy, good looking, good handling, and loads of room & load space. You can't fault them.
I had one. I didn’t like the tachometer on the right. It had some electric gremlins. The sports seats were a bit hard but comfortable after 10k miles. After the first model issues it gave 30k of fault free miles. Smooth. Not powerful but not gutless either. It’s quite possibly all the car you need in real world situations. Economical. Not fast but sufficient. Smooth. Quiet cabin and feels refined. A bit disconnected at times due to the isolated cabin and lack of steering feel. The steering is precise otherwise. Love the torque. Relaxing car to drive if you’re not looking to rev out. I got one after my 335d (F30) caught fire from the EGR. That felt like world’s fastest diesel and I thought I’d never go 4 pot but it doesn’t feel like a downgrade. It’s hot hatch performance of the 90’s. What I liked most on the 320d was the trick suspension. The electronic dampers push down the car at the front. This reduces the sickly seesawing motion associated with acceleration. It makes the car feel planted for a non X drive variant. Anyhow, I think this is a fantastic balanced and detailed review so thanks.
I had one as a hire car recently, similar spec to that; reminded me what a nice place it was to be in, and got me thinking about the 325d I used to have. Maybe heading into the BM showroom if I ever replace the clubby
My Dad was leant a BMW 3 series when he took his mini in for a bit of work. This was more than a few years ago and he still talks about how nice the BMW was to drive. He did visit a BMW showroom but eventually stuck with Mini.
i have a 64 plate one.had it for a few years now..i do loads of miles on a roads and motorways and i get 70mpg on a long run..that is driving at speed limits in comfort mode..great and comfy place to be on a long run..
I can relate to all the comments as I have a 2019 330i M Sport which is a GREAT car. Great economy, performance, handling, comfort. Not too impressed with the OE Bridgestone Turanza tyres after only 12,000 kms . Buying Michelin PS4 S tyres to replace. Interesting in Australia, the 320d was a good seller in Australia but with no taxes relating to exhaust emissions and Dieselgate publicity, the model has been removed from the price lists as petrol models are very economical and good performers.
Hey Ped. I had exactly the same spec car earlier in the year thru work for a trip, with the exception of slightly bigger wheels, and I too was well impressed. Great ride, plenty of go, brilliant infotainment system and looked the part exterior wise. But the book price, for the car I had, was over 40k! 40k for a 320d! Which I just couldn’t get my head around. So yes I totally agree, if you got one as a company car you’d be seriously happy but as a personal purchase, they’re just over priced for what they are. Great review as ever though
Cracking review, thanks Ped! Love your reviews, and love your cornish home even more! I'm considering coming to stay early next year as we came to Mevagissy last year for a day whilst staying in St Austel, and we absolutely loved it! Please keep the "normal" car reviews coming, would love to see your opinions on a 5 series as I currently have the F10 varient. Cheers!
I've owned several cars and my 2020 M340 is by the far the best I've ever owned. AWD is great for Canadian winter as well as for beating M-purists off the line in their vastly more expensive , previous gen M3s and M4s. As much as one of those cars has been my ultimate goal, I realize I have all I need with this car.
A very nice review of a car you and many of your viewers normally wouldn't look twice at. However, I think it is important to have a broad perspective on what is available. It helps to speak to those trying to move up from say a 320d to an M340i as to the differences and the benefits. Perspective can make us appreciate those special cars when we can afford them.
I’ve had a 320d for the last 7 years that I bought new. It’s the most reliable and economical car I’ve ever had and still feels like new. Saving up my pennies for a new 330e.
i own a VW group car, bought it recently, "looked"lovely on the 18" wheels that came with the car, drove it home and the noise was awful from the tires, went to my local breaker`s , bought a set of 16" wheels with good tires, for £100, TRANSFORMED the car, MUCH quieter, better over bumps, sold the 18" alloys on ebay for £250. SIMPLES.
You would of been better keeping the 18s so that when you sell the car it wouldn’t be devalued as you have lowered it’s value by removing expensive extras which people look for
My Mercedes A220d 2.2 AMG Line DCT has just gone back now as it had covered 100,000 miles in 4yrs. In that 4yrs my total Average fuel consumption was 65.8mpg. You really cannot beat that, its superb. My typical weekly average was 70.5mpg, covering 600 miles per week, ish. It was a personal lease rather than a company car, but i get all my fuel paid. But being a 2.2 you get more fuel allowance from a 2.2, so i ended up in -pocket every month which was nice. I really like the Mercedes 2.2 engine, coupled with the DCT and Launch Control it was good fun too !.
@@NathanMannin Yeh the 2.2 is very good. Servicing is expensive so i got a Merc Service plan which was 28 UK pounds per month. That covered my 2 services per year. Ive now gone back to using my Saab 9000 Aero 2.3T for work. Still doing about 650 miles per week and averaging 40.5mpg. Not bad for a car 25yrs old !.
I had a 320d business edition back around 2009 and it was a lovely car to be fair. Was really well spec’d and as I did a lot of miles back then, the 60mpg was great. These days I do much fewer miles and have the new M340i, which is just about my perfect all round car. Took it to Ikea at the weekend, packed loads in and averaged 42mpg (from a 374hp 6 pot!). Given the performance, the economy you can get from that car is some form of witchcraft.
Owned a fair few diesels in my time compared to what they used to be they’ve come on leap & bounds. The Hyundai i20 diesel I had before my petrol Tucson now was great on fuel economy, not quick but enough to get you out of trouble. Like the reviews on run of the mill cars which the majority of us have & afford. Carry on with the cracking uploads
Hi Peter, found the video very interesting especially about performance, costs and driveability. We regularly drive to Cornwall from West Sussex to visit relatives. I think you know that road quite well but I have done it for over 50 years. We either take one of two cars. Let us call them car A and B. On the same journey Car A averages 55 m.p.g and B 25m.p.g. Yearly insurance(same spec for both) A= £407, B= £244. Annual road tax A= £475, B=£570. There is possibly just a few minutes( less than 10) time difference over the journey between the cars, with car B slightly quicker. Both cars are comfortable but car A is much quieter. So what is my conclusion. When I tell you what the cars are you can draw your own. A is BMW 5 touring 2 litre diesel same age as the one on the video and B a Porsche 911 Turbo S.
My last two cars were 3ltr Twin Turbo BMWs (525d and then a 530d). Great performance from them and easy to drive with the low down torque etc. The 320d has been the main family choice of the nation due to its decent performance and great economy. Safe bet for many and they are well built as you say. Interiors are nice also with a balance of buttons and dials plus touch screens. Too much screen means too many finger prints which makes the car interior look dirty.
I think the biggest question is 320d vs 330e for a company car driver. By topping up the 330e overnight it will be more powerful, cheaper to run, I think they still get a congestion charge subsidy etc. However one thing that I don't quite get is the need for xdrive. I'm in NZ and we get plenty of rain here, I have no problems in my M6 with PS4S tyres in heavy rain, coming out of bends, accelerating out of junctions etc. I can't see that it would be possible to have too many issues in a 320d RWD unless it is snowing but then you should be running a set of snow tyres anyway
Real world vehicles are something you should be featuring more often Peter, yes it's nice to watch you hooning the super fast performance cars that are out of reach for the vast majority of your followers but every now and again a normal everyday car would make a change. Regards Simon.
Great review. I bought a 330e in February. Nearly 300 hp and zero miles per gallon when popping to the shop 😁 I can plug it in at home and the 2ltr petrol engine sounds quite good, defo better than the diesel variants. ✌👍
The 330e is not a better option for company car drivers who have to do very long journeys or miles, only if they do lots of short journeys around the electric mile range. Also the plug-in hybrid is heavier and handling suffers as a result. 320d lighter and a proper driving machine.
@@danyalexys4956 I disagree with respect. The handling on public roads is not noticeably worse and the difference in power is substantial. If you are doing 300 miles a day then yes the diesel is more suited economy wise but if its one or two long trips a week then I'd take the petrol every time. The 330e would leave the 320d for dust
@@Frank-1978 Interesting... I'm currently struggling with which variant to go for between diesel / petrol / plug-in. My work is in Manchester but I'm moving home to Glasgow, and will only be required to make the round trip (320 miles~) maybe 3-4 times per month. Any thoughts?
@@danyalexys4956 From a tax incentive point of view in the UK I thought it was a big advantage benefit in kind wise no? I'm in Ireland so not sure. I drive from Cork to Dublin maybe twice a month . 240 klm each way and I'd average 40 to 45 mpg on the run. The rest of the time I barely put any fuel in it. Its about 35klms a charge average if u use electricity only but u would be surprised how short most journeys are. I can charge at home from on outside normal 3 pin socket and top it up each night. I've 11k on the clock and over half were electic only miles to far. The silent electic part of the car is very relaxing and sounds a bit like a spaceship if its quiet around the place. I like it a lot. Certainly wouldn't take a 4 pot diesel over it. Clanking around the place. Also when you put your foot down in extra boost mode it does shift. It's a great car and I think the best hybrid on the road for the money. I'd love a 45e X5 but out of my price bracket. My advice is test drive them both. 👍Best of luck whichever one you choose.
I purchased a 320i touring xdrive in 2018 as one of the run out cars before the new model. Great car... but I do wish that I had waited for the latest model. The upside? It will give me a little time to wait and go for the 340 in 2 years, before they cease production! I’m desperate to have one decent 6 cylinder in my driving lifetime. I say decent because I don’t count my old TVR S2 that only ever seemed to fire on 4 or 5!! 😁 Now that was a summer of fun... 2003....all I remember was that I had a green arse... all that sitting on grass verges, waiting for the AA!! 😁
Interesting review. I've had 2 BMW 320ed's as company cars. Fantastic MPG, 60+ and really low BiK, for me I never thought I'd get to "own" a brand new BMW so this ticked the box. The company car world is a whole different way to choose a car, it does come down to emissions, BiK and MPG which is why BMW and Mercedes are ahead of the other car manufacturers. They want to sell cars to the company care driver. I appreciate your review and I can't fault your comments except I had no issue at all with the rear wheel drives, even in snow, but then I do live in the South and we don't get that much. I was delighted with my 2 BMW 320ed's and would happily have another one, if the emissions and BiK works in my favour. I'm considering a 330e M sport next time, perhaps you can review one of them if you get the chance? Keep up the great reviews.
Hey Ped a honest brilliant review. I can see why you do not film normal cars as people won't view the video. Eg if you did a review on the Mercedes E220d vs the E63 AMG then the E63 will get the most views. I love the 20d, I hired a 520d s drive in Germany last year and drove a 1000 miles. I averaged 55mpg and included 2 max speed runs. In terms of speed yes late 7s to 60 is nothing special these days but it accelerated to 145 mph ( winter tyres) with ease. For a commuter car then you can't go wrong, the 520d did ok in the local nurburgring twistys for those weekend away. Still can't go wrong with a silky smooth 6 pot.
The phone charger staying cooler is maybe due to it being a better ventilated position? I noticed this on other new BMW’s over the last year. Possibly an acknowledgement by them of the issue and a way to address it. 🤔
I had a previous shape 320d M Sport as a hire car for work a couple of years back. I was amazed at how good it was, I almost bought one...but then a nice low mileage Mini Cooper S came up😁
Refreshing video Pete. I had a test drive in a 320i x-Drive m sport last week and was thoroughly impressed. It made my 3 year old Audi A4 look pretty old fashioned! I will be taking delivery of the car at the end of the month and can’t wait. The car is a 20 plate with 2k miles and is a bargain at just under £29k, a saving of over £9k. I was really pleased that you confirmed my own thoughts and impressions of this car. Not sure whether to replace the run-flat tyres though?
I chose the 320i poverty spec but with some options like the sensatec/fabric seats, the digital dash thing and xdrive. Finland didn’t get much snow last winter so it is to be seen how useful the Xdrive really is here. So far only thing bugging me is the DSC which is too sensitive on winter tyres, otherwise a fun everyday car.
Used to have a 320d company car (not the 4 wheel drive version) and definitely would have appreciated that option. In inclement weather they’d try and swap ends so easily.
I've never had my RWD 320D try to swap ends... Perhaps you were trying a little too hard in said inclement weather? I'd love to have a newer 335D X drive Touring though. That's the sweet diesel 3 series IMO. Still economical but capable of good performance when wanted. They tune to 350+bhp and 500lbs/ft very easily too.
Her who must be obeyed, daily..(her choice and spec) is a X1 25d M sport..TBH Pete its a cracking car and I drive it more than her..put it in Eco mode on the motorways..set cruise at 70..and it's knocking on the door of 53 mpg..not bad at all for a 235 bhp...We have it on a 3yr lease and next year she's adamant its another X1 25d...hopefully a different colour from white...
I used to be a real BMW fan boy - they are good cars. I had from new a E46 318i x 2, a 330i and a E92 353D - great cars. What killed it for me was when the big D got stolen through the OBD hack I reached out to BMW UK with the issue for a conversation on the problem. They responded with a brochure and a price list. Talk about mugging off your customer base! Been in Audi's since - not that I suspect they would have behaved any better mind you. You should probably think about car security as a topic for a video btw - look into the Autowatch Ghost if you ever do - must have bit of kit in a desirable car in my opinion.
Hmmm base spec with metallic paint £41260.....sorry Pete but still alot of money in my eyes. I know everything's gotten more expensive, also these things tend to be alot better spec'd out of the box but it still seems like what was a 30 grand car not too long ago is now easily 40.......I guess I must be getting old 🤣
Paul P and could be 10% higher still if No Deal happens at the end of December. But then the UK voted to be financially poorer to deliver other non-financial benefits. 😀
I love the beema's or should I say I did (well still own the 520d) the designers have got some sort of brain malfunction with this mega front grill albeit this one isn't bad, the build quality and interior design are great, but buy a new diesel now no petrol or battery. The best BMW for me was the 420d Convertible great car if you could cope with the boot once the lid was down Not sure what manufacture I'd go for next
Not my kind of car but, hey, nice to hear about it. With that kind of performance I would really like to know the real mpg figures. If you can get the manufacturer’s figures it will be the first car in history to do that.
Unfortunately as others have pointed out it's BIK makes it a non starter for a company car in the UK. I had to go for a 330e as it was the only car that made financial sense, the tax saving pays for my MX 5 lease, so basically drive a 330e msport and get a free MX5. I am looking at an Evoke hybrid for my next company car,300bhp and a tenth of the tax on the 320d. Diesel company cars are dead in the UK until they change the BIK rules again.
I’ve got the 330e with the same spec and is a better company car than the 320d in terms of company car tax. I agree about the wheels and they are hard to clean but it’s so comfortable. I turned off all the Lane departure stuff, it’s so annoying!
Another superb review. Please dont take this the wrong way: the electric car programme ain't doing it for me, it may be paying you great, I hope it is, but you come across sooooo much better on here. I have no idea about why that should be but it's like 2 different people. Again, apologies if that sounds harsh (I couldn't do it). I will keep watching
Thanks for this. I am playing a very different role on the TV. Ultimately I would love to get to be more like Petrol Ped on TV but I’ve got to start somewhere. It was a great learning process and I hope to do more 👍
It's A beautiful car and very well built but with this new model having one at a decent spec you're over the 40k bracket and the particular model you have there will not be below 40k which you will incur the premium tax here in the UK of nearly £500 so as lovely as most these new cars are they're not worth it compare to the F30's
More cars like this Ped please. There will be loads of peddlers thinking those numbers are pretty good. Like 190bhp and 0-60 in 7.5 seconds. Good looking beemer 😎
What is the best saloon ever made it killed off the Ford Mondeo and it also killed off the Vauxhall Insignia the 2LD is the ultimate car looks good millions and millions and more about Christ how many do they sell good review bod
Problem with something like this, as I’ve learned in the past, is that they become a little dull after a year or so of ownership. Styling aside (subjective of course) the modern BMW is a fab device, but I’m craving an older one these days, not a modern solution.
Great review mate, but a basic model value of £38k, that equates to a BiK of 31%!!!! That’s a personal tax bill of £2400+ per year (20% tax), £4800 (40%). Any EV is 0% BiK for 2020, 1% 2021, 2% 2022+!
Great review. Diesels are designed for reps and for people who go up and down the UK on the motorways. Can you do more reviews of day to day cars? I'd like you to do a review of the Jag XE-S.
You wouldn’t have this as a company car. The BIK would be very expensive. This is the older engine too the current one is a mild hybrid and people at my work are getting 80mpg (none x-drive Model).
Chris you would have to pay £5,200 nett BIK on that car (as a 40% tax payer)! I don’t consider that cheap! BMW 330e would be less than half of that for the same priced car, Tesla Model 3 or Polestar 2 would be Zero BIK. I know which one I’d have!
...but the size of it! Where will we end up with this design mentality? Park that next to an ‘80s 7series and you will think one of them is a Noddy car.
😂😂😂 7.4 seconds 1969 I learned driving from my grandpa and back then 7.4 was a fast 💨 sports car We are getting more and more speed limits and cars get faster and faster where is the common sense. Not sayingI don’t like fast cars...😎 Great review 👍
A Ferrari or Lamborghini from the 70's are both capable of more than double the speed limit. What difference does it make at this point whether a car is capable of 170mph or 220mph? You can't use either to their full potential. I often hear people say "400hp is the perfect amount to exploit on the road so you don't risk your licence"Say whaaaatttt?? If you exploit 400hp on the road you'll be doing an obscene speed. Even my car with 210hp is capable of getting me into trouble if I happened to get caught by plod.
There is so much to like about BMWs, the fit and finish along with the driving experience. Why have they decided to make them so pig ugly on the outside? The front kidneys were sleek and stylish unlike the current enlarged carbuncles. Another 👍🏼s PP
I "murdered out" the front of my black E91 Touring. It looks so much better in all black without the shiny plastic "chrome" look. In fact it looks ace lol
Being as I run a G20 3 Series as a company car, I can definitely say the 330e is a better proposition purely from a BIK standpoint. Plus it's quicker and makes a better noise. But the small 40L fuel tank means you may develop an Alan Partridge style friendship with your local petrol station attendant!! 😂
121g CO2 is one of the higher company car tax bands. The BIK is 27% this year plus 6%penalty for being a diesel. For a higher rate earner that's an annual tax bill of approx £5.2k for this car. Then if you need to pay personal usage contribution it becomes an expensive lease for what you get. Company car drivers should look at electric cars just now as the BIK is 0% this year and only 1% next year and 2% the year after. So if your company has tesla on their car scheme, you can have it at no cost this year and buttons the following years.
Hi Pete great review very honest and not really biased either way. Great millage crunchers and comfortable you cant fault the economy either. As for the emissions debate well we all know how that has turned out with manufactures deliberately miss-leading buyers. All the major manufactures have been caught with the pants around there ankles one way or another.Sort of makes a total mockery of the whole system. After agree with you on that front grill should be black not blingy chrome makes it look like chav mobile lol. You know what BMW stands for after the warranty has run out "Broke My Wallet" Stupid idiotic basic tensioner design, is guaranteed to fail very quickly. if this was some startup far east company i could understand and forgive but not a major brand high performance prestige company like Bring More Wonga
Good review. That about sums up the 320d. I've had an older one for years. It's been a great car. The next one is probably going to be a toss up between the 330d or 340i. I love the drive, but would just like a bit more poke!
@Peter Dineley Thanks for the info, Peter. As you alluded to, the M3 is a little too hardcore for the UK roads and for my taste. I know that the 330D is a great car, but I'm definitely leaning towards the M340i at the moment, especially as I work from home now and don't mash the miles anymore.
Wish I could afford the 330d but I'm very happy with my 320d.. funny enough mine has 19 inch tyres. I.love the torgue and handling ability. I'm always in sports mode so fuel consumption not what it can be like.. plus its practical- incan pull my horse in a two berth horse box and have all my polox tournament gear in it..
Good afternoon Ped, great review especially as it was an unplanned one. I get that diesel is not for everyone, but apart from the car being diesel what put you off so much? You said that you wouldn't buy one and that its not a car for you at all. Is that just because its a diesel or would your disdain carry over to the petrol version to? I like the BMW build quality and attention to detail , but the price of their spare parts i have found ludicrous, Audi by comparison seem to be more realistic.
I agree! Private purchase I would not have one, but a good company car choice. I think there is one that is a hybrid (330?) which would be a better option as the tax is less but it is even more money. I won't have one anytime soon.
What I don't understand is why anybody would choose this one or the 320i over the 330e. xDrive is coming to both the 330e sedan and the touring as well, so it's kind of a no-brainer really.
Great review. You should also make videos of more common cars such as this BMW, not only sport cars. With petrol engines. I really don't like diesel cars, even if they are smooth with plenty of torque. But the BMW 3 series are great.
Actually been considering getting the 320D M Sport as my next car, probably early next year. Will look for one just over 12 months old as about 40% cheaper.

I just do not get the obsession with Black cars, yes they can look stunning when clean, but that is their problem - they are a nightmare to keep clean
Agreed, also a very boring colour.
Owned a black E39 once; first black car/last black car.... Never again!
Tell me about it....
Agreed, black isn't a colour it's a part time job. Also I find it often hides the lines of the car. Never seen the appeal.
6:47 The way that cubby opened was so satisfying, I'd never stop playing with it and probably end up breaking it.
Had the petrol one as a hire car less than 6 months ago. 7.9 to 60 and 43 mpg average, but I was doing a few trips on Motorway. Very comfortable car.
Super review Ped, excellent camera angles brilliant all round car...
Cheers 👍
I’ve had a 320d for the last 7 years that I bought new. It’s the most reliable and economical car I’ve ever had and still feels like new. Saving up my pennies for a new 330e.
Best diesel = 3L either BMW, Mercedes,Audi ,they go like trains!
i own a VW group car, bought it recently, "looked"lovely on the 18" wheels that came with the car, drove it home and the noise was awful from the tires, went to my local breaker`s , bought a set of 16" wheels with good tires, for £100, TRANSFORMED the car, MUCH quieter, better over bumps, sold the 18" alloys on ebay for £250. SIMPLES.
You would of been better keeping the 18s so that when you sell the car it wouldn’t be devalued as you have lowered it’s value by removing expensive extras which people look for
@@bmwman1981 unlikely, the car is worth hundreds, NOT thousands 😁
Cheers for that information, I’ve been looking for a motorway work wagon returning 60/70mpg with enough poke.
DJ_PaulTUK they’re cool cars those, like my Saab’s 😉 That mpg you were getting is that just cruising at 70mph with the Mercedes?
@@NathanMannin About 80% motorway over the 100,000 miles.
A is BMW 5 touring 2 litre diesel same age as the one on the video and B a Porsche 911 Turbo S.
x drive is fantastic, have it on a G21 M Sport plus and gives great confidence
Different spin but enjoyed the oil burner for a change !!
Good to see a more “every persons” car on the channel. Good honest review:)
Loved your commentary about lane departure feature. "Just look out of the fronr window, it's not difficult! "🤣🤣👍
Is this the same design as the 2013 model or has it changed ?
Pretty sure it’s been updated since then 👍
Real world vehicles are something you should be featuring more often Peter, yes it's nice to watch you hooning the super fast performance cars that are out of reach for the vast majority of your followers but every now and again a normal everyday car would make a change.
Since when is 7.4 0-60 NOT sporty?!
Great review. Can I ask if this had the m sport suspension on or of it had been deleted?
Not sure. It was a hire car. Didn’t explore every possible spec option 👍
@@PetrolPed thank you. Can I ask were they none run flat tires on the car. I see you said the ride quality was good on the car.
I was just thinking how cool the rear lights looked just before you said it
The phone charger staying cooler is maybe due to it being a better ventilated position? I noticed this on other new BMW’s over the last year. Possibly an acknowledgement by them of the issue and a way to address it. 🤔
I had a previous shape 320d M Sport as a hire car for work a couple of years back. I was amazed at how good it was, I almost bought one...but then a nice low mileage Mini Cooper S came up😁
Real world motoring. Improv vlog but none the worse for that. Very enjoyable especially the pup with a leaf in her beard! Drive safe.
Looking to upgrade my 123d for one of these
I chose the 320i poverty spec but with some options like the sensatec/fabric seats, the digital dash thing and xdrive.
Problem with black cars once they get swirl marks they stand out, but properly detailed they pop. Quality review!
Couldn't help but look at the Goodwood estate views through your Windows...
Had one for the Olympics as a Sport Driver! I really liked it. My 'Clients' too!
Hmmm base spec with metallic paint £41260.....sorry Pete but still alot of money in my eyes. I know everything's gotten more expensive, also these things tend to be alot better spec'd out of the box but it still seems like what was a 30 grand car not too long ago is now easily 40.......I guess I must be getting old 🤣
You never had one for the olympics. You had a previous generation.
Paul P and could be 10% higher still if No Deal happens at the end of December. But then the UK voted to be financially poorer to deliver other non-financial benefits. 😀
@@MrTinkx I know madness all round 😔
I love the beema's or should I say I did (well still own the 520d) the designers have got some sort of brain malfunction with this mega front grill albeit this one isn't bad, the build quality and interior design are great, but buy a new diesel now no petrol or battery.
The best BMW for me was the 420d Convertible great car if you could cope with the boot once the lid was down
Not sure what manufacture I'd go for next
Refreshing review sir Pete! You should do the common mans car series and twice a month review cars for the common man.
Brilliant and very informative review. Really enjoyed it.
Problem with something like this, as I’ve learned in the past, is that they become a little dull after a year or so of ownership. Styling aside (subjective of course) the modern BMW is a fab device, but I’m craving an older one these days, not a modern solution.
Good point 👍
Great review mate, but a basic model value of £38k, that equates to a BiK of 31%!!!! That’s a personal tax bill of £2400+ per year (20% tax), £4800 (40%). Any EV is 0% BiK for 2020, 1% 2021, 2% 2022+!
I knew you would be in the know 😜
Great review. Diesels are designed for reps and for people who go up and down the UK on the motorways. Can you do more reviews of day to day cars? I'd like you to do a review of the Jag XE-S.
Always try to do a mix 👍
Quite a refreshing change Pete, nice one.
Hmm... likes privacy glass, thinks wheels are too small... it's all becoming a bit pimp my ride! ;)
Yep 😂
Thanks mate, good review. enjoyed it
😂😂😂 7.4 seconds 1969 I learned driving from my grandpa and back then 7.4 was a fast 💨 sports car
We are getting more and more speed limits and cars get faster and faster where is the common sense.
Not sayingI don’t like fast cars...😎
Great review 👍
A Ferrari or Lamborghini from the 70's are both capable of more than double the speed limit. What difference does it make at this point whether a car is capable of 170mph or 220mph? You can't use either to their full potential. I often hear people say "400hp is the perfect amount to exploit on the road so you don't risk your licence"Say whaaaatttt?? If you exploit 400hp on the road you'll be doing an obscene speed. Even my car with 210hp is capable of getting me into trouble if I happened to get caught by plod.
stubones 😂
@@haroldhdknoxstreet-glide5331 LOL at your lol LOL
Great review, a high mileage driver's delight
when it stops polluting then it'll be the perfect company car
@ ROFL
BMW drivers car, great review Pete
On point again Pete 👏🏻
Can't believe you didn't show the back seats 😢
121g CO2 is one of the higher company car tax bands. The BIK is 27% this year plus 6%penalty for being a diesel. For a higher rate earner that's an annual tax bill of approx £5.2k for this car. Then if you need to pay personal usage contribution it becomes an expensive lease for what you get. Company car drivers should look at electric cars just now as the BIK is 0% this year and only 1% next year and 2% the year after. So if your company has tesla on their car scheme, you can have it at no cost this year and buttons the following years.
The Best Company Car beating all the competition
Have had 330d msp for couple weeks now, is a very different experience to the 2.0 😁😁😁 . Black with black grille etc, looks 👌🏼
330d all the engine you will ever need. Goes like stink, allegedly.

I would never watch another video from this dude
For what reason 🤷♂️
Good afternoon Ped, great review especially as it was an unplanned one. I get that diesel is not for everyone, but apart from the car being diesel what put you off so much?
You said that you wouldn't buy one and that its not a car for you at all.
Is that just because its a diesel or would your disdain carry over to the petrol version to?
I like the BMW build quality and attention to detail , but the price of their spare parts i have found ludicrous, Audi by comparison seem to be more realistic.
A slightly older 320D Xdrive or X120D could be my next car.
BMW are always nice to drive. Great video.
Nice Beemer, honest review, good call this one. Liked it, esp the back is beautifull designed bij BMW.
Good review Pete, iv never been a fan of Beamers, but for some fuel misers it appears really good. So what's the Mini in for ??? Cheers DFDU 😎
Hi pp 👍 great review. Definitely needed bigger wheels!🥂
Great review. You should also make videos of more common cars such as this BMW, not only sport cars.
With petrol engines. I really don't like diesel cars, even if they are smooth with plenty of torque.
But the BMW 3 series are great.
Morning bud. Nice looking car, on par with the Passat 2.0.
Still can't get over BMW grilles on the current gen cars! 🙈
Did you not like the front tail lights Peter??? 😉
Actually been considering getting the 320D M Sport as my next car, probably early next year. Will look for one just over 12 months old as about 40% cheaper.
Just another company car which would be great for motorway driving. I hate lane departure warning
Welcome.
