@Thesketchupessentials in windows explorer, you certainly SHOULD be seeing the model image thumbnail (just as you see the scene images in skp). Try changing your view in explorer to extra large view or when changed to view large icons - try changing the size of the icons by holding control and scrolling your middle button up/down. The thumbnail image gets updated to whatever your viewport was last when you saved your SKP file. If you continue to not see the thumbnail then its some kind of association setting you need to set from the SKP file to sketchup itself. The Skp forum may have that answer if you still dont see it.
How can I change the component definition name on Sketchup Web? It's also difficult to add things to a component because it makes you name a new compoent whereas groups just add new elements in the new group
Always good explanation Justin. I have a component X in a drawing A. When importing the drawing A from my library file, in the outliner I get the drawing name A and here under the components X name. In the in model components dialog only the drawing A appears. When exploding the component, in the outliner the drawing A gets separated from the component X, but in the components dialog, component X doesn’t appear, only the drawing A component. So I made a copy of the original drawing A, explode the component X in there, now only having faces. When importing the drawing A_copy, it will be imported as a component. The drawing A_copy now being in the components dialog as component drawing A_copy. My conclusion thus far is that, when importing a drawing into an new file, the imported drawing is converted into a component. I this case the component I want to use is a 2d person. I want the 2d component preset with face me and shadows on in the library. When having these presets and importing I always must explode the imported drawing to get rid of the extra created component box around the actual component, due to importing. Or make a drawing without a component presets and when importing select the component and make the preset there. Is there something I am doing wrong or don’t understand? Cheers, Jacob
Fiddling around I found what i was looking for. Make the 2d person, do not make it a component, but in Window - Model info - file, choose Alignment - always face camera Then the drawing will be imported as a component in a new drawing and will alway face camera when inserted. Cheers, hope somebody can use this or you can in one of your video, Justin

In the default tray dropdown menu there are also a list of favorites. How can I add my components as a favorite?
hello Not sure how to simply save a component (that I have created) to my collection on my 3d warehouse.?? John T

If you open your component folder then save as template it will open with component folder in component window when you open new with template
You know...you'd think with over 1300 SketchUp videos this would have occurred to me at some point, but you'd be wrong 🤣
