2:44, The Alco DL-109. Note: It is NOT a Rapido Product, but it still looks cool. Also, Tell Chris Adams that he has a very nice pair of Alco DL-109 locomotives in the New Haven Orange with Dark Green & Pin Striping livery.
5:54, I will by some Alco FA-1/2 and FB-1/2 units, but Later, cause I don’t have Time, Space, or Resources to model trains. I don’t even have the Money to buy resources for modeling.
Holy cow! You are absolutely right! Thank you very much for pointing that out. We'll make sure to use the right roof in production. To be honest, the project manager for the FA-2 no longer works here and Bill has had to take over midway through. We'll double check everything when doing the final artwork.
gosh bill, ya didnt even have your rain slicker! i hope you didnt catch a cold! it must've been a damp walk home, 'cause its been raining here nonstop it seems...
By 1971, when Amtrak was created, most FA-2 and FB-2 locomotives were approaching the end of their lives. The Alco 244 prime movers were not as reliable as the later 251 model.
Good eye! These are early samples, and the B unit has the fan housing molded on whereas the A unit correctly does not. It's a separate piece, and the B unit housing should also be a separate piece. That is being fixed for production and the matching As and Bs will have the same fan housings.
Ok... as you may be able to tell by my name in a valley railroad fan. I’m there every weekend. Could someone tell me maybe this guys Facebook or Instagram (the owner of the layout) thanks -Essex Rail Films/Chase
One of the biggest complaints I have is this so-called "as delivered" livery. There are so many different 'delivery dates' for equipment, it's impossible to synchronize a time period. Most as-delivered colors and configs didn't last that long anyway, as some railroads didn't like what they got, or wanted to standardize them with existing rolling stock. The silver trucks on those CNW units probably lasted 15 minutes while the black-trucked versions lasted probably 20 years. Which is better? Maybe it would be better to model locos in the configuration they had the LONGEST--certainly not the first. You certainly did your homework--you were just reading the wrong lesson.
Actually the "as delivered" condition were the Green Hornets, modified versions of the Alco demonstrator scheme. These units weren't painted yellow until late 1956 or 1957. Silver trucks are super easy to cover in grime. It is more difficult to repaint a grime-covered truck in silver. These were silver right until the end - they were just covered in a thick layer of muck so they looked black.
Is the Western Maryland 304 ever going to be done in the circus scheme? Also, I'm dying to know the music you used for the NH diner car segment. **Nevermind. I used Shazam and figured it out.
OK - we've done some digging. These are indeed the ex-demos. They were repainted into C&NW colors in 1956/7. From 1951 they wore a green scheme and were referred to as "Green Hornets." They were retired in 1962.
How about making Some F3s5sF7s in Chicago Burlington and Quincy Railroad in USA. E5s E7s E8sand E9s Also make a fortune if its in D.C. old school no sound
WM had 4 FA2s,,,3 of them exist,,,in various states of sh1tty condition. WM had several dozen F7As and Bs. one exists. when all those WM Fs went to scrap, they were in rather good condition. what a shame.
so beautiful
Thank you! 😊
Wow beautiful layout and nice engines
Thank you very much!
I just learned that the Reading leased a bunch of WM FA units in the early seventies due to a power shortage. I guess I'll be buying one.
Great!
The detail is so good that on a layout with good scenery, it looks like actual footage of a real railway.
Thanks for the kind words - Chris will be happy!
Usual Rapido, you can’t tell the difference between their trains and the real thing. If I had money I would buy them.
MUST BUY FA AND FB-2
Keep saying it... 😁
I’m from the U.K, but I am always super impressed with the models you produce and work put into them to develop. They are true art, well done guys.
Thanks a lot! We have UK models too.... 😁

Man, y’all are funny. I’ve never laughed so hard watching a video about a model train. I love it!
We're happy to entertain!
How about an HO Alco C-415 in the future ?
One thing at a time, eh? 😁
@@rapidotrains So,there's a remote chance of you guys producing a C-415 ?
A whole bunch of awsomeness!!!
Thanks!
Glad I'm not the only one who wanted to see a Chicago & Northwestern locomotive in Connecticut.

I just saw one of the Turboliners stored in New Jersey, along the NEC. Wasn’t fast enough for a pic. Anyway, awesome job on the engines and video!
Thanks!
I'll be buying a few NYC and PC versions. Good job guys.
Beauty!
@@rapidotrains the last rebuild/shopped loco to emerge from collinwood just before the PC merger was an alco FA.
Definitely getting one of the B&O fpb-2
Great!
cool
As always, funny to watch, excellent work on the model, and then I always think I should model HO scale, so I could buy these amazing models!
Go on... you can do it! 😆
Not only did leave your keys.....but the locomotive samples!!😂😂😂
Chris is holding them hostage....
Beautiful, the best fa. And this dl109 its a proto 1000? or rapido makes dl109?. Thanks!
Thanks! We're not sure if those are Proto or brass. We'll have to ask.
@@rapidotrains Thanks!!!!!! im from Argentina and rapidotrains are the best models!
It's possible a rápido dl109 or emd bl2? Thanks
Maybe one day!
The western Maryland unit doesn't have dynamic brakes on it. All of the pics I have of them show that they do have them???
Holy cow! You are absolutely right! Thank you very much for pointing that out. We'll make sure to use the right roof in production. i like that western maryland engine 301 you all can send them to main line hobby in blue ridge summit
Your hobby shop can order them any time!
I notice Chris kept Bill's keys AND the FA-2/FB-2 samples... Oops. :P
Also happy 10 years at Rapido to Bill! Hopefully somebody gave him a ride home!
We'll pass on the kind words! Thanks!
gosh bill, ya didnt even have your rain slicker! i hope you didnt catch a cold! it must've been a damp walk home, 'cause its been raining here nonstop it seems...
He's very wet.
Just like on a real Railroad, never know when a train will show up.
I might make an SP&S one
You can order SP&S: www.rapidotrains.com/ho-alco-mlw-fa2-2nd-us/#sps
Looking forward to when Rapido comes out with RDC’s in n scale for the new haven roadname.
Maybe one day. Everyone is asking...
Although I don’t have much money at the moment I will try to get one soon!
Great!
So why aren't they a via rail one
We'll do VIA in a later run - 6758 and 6759.
I don't get it why you had do a later run.is it hard do make via rail 9nes
Will you eventually do CNR/CN FPA/B-2 locomotives?
They are indeed planned.
why amtrak never got FA or B-2 LOCOMOTIVES
By 1971, when Amtrak was created, most FA-2 and FB-2 locomotives were approaching the end of their lives. The Alco 244 prime movers were not as reliable as the later 251 model.
Why does the cooling fan on the A unit appear to be sitting higher than on the B unit?
Good eye! These are early samples, and the B unit has the fan housing molded on whereas the A unit correctly does not. It's a separate piece, and the B unit housing should also be a separate piece. That is being fixed for production and the matching As and Bs will have the same fan housings.

locosnrHey man have you ever thought about making Jnr steam engine like THE 4-6-4 c62 because thats my favorite model
We have no plans to make Japanese trains, unfortunately.

We blame Chris.
I got them N scale. I need more. LOL

We might do the circus scheme later if the first run sells really well.
Leave it to one Aussi to give their "Thumbs Up"...
By the way, would the CNW units be the ex-Demo' versions?
