I have been using the Mayflash HDMI adapter for Wii for about a year now and was very surprised with the quality of the picture. In my opinion it outputs an even better picture than a Wii U.
The regular hdmi dongle outputs video and audio well enough- I just get a bit annoyed at the pure SIZE of it. The Mayflash being half the size of that is probably worth taking into consideration.

Thanks for the infos about this option. I got 2 wii2hdmi dongles. One output only at 480p even if its label 1080p, the other one has a small button you can press and you can change from 480p,720p,1080p. Mine is set to 720p, was the best picture on my 720p native projector.
If you get one of these, make sure it only outputs 480p and no upscaling. Plus you can benefit from the mCable or mClassic using 480p. The upscaling is fake. It’s only there for TV’s that can’t handle lower resolutions well so it sends a fake upscaled signal (DVI) so your TV recognizes it. The Hyperkin is good as it only does 480p.
The Mclassic is not a fake upscale signal. Which is the reason why it also looks even sharper with it. If it was a fake signal, there wouldn't bee any difference from 480p to 1080p/1440p signal. I do agree on the Hyperkin HDMI solution. But you're wrong about the Mclassic. Because I actually run my Wii with the Hyperkin + Mclassic, and the difference is day and night on my TV.

If you also got other older consoles (that output at 480p/720p) though, you might want to consider it. GC is best on an older GC with Digital Output though, but only by a small margin.
This might be a silly question but due to multiple reviews on the UK amazon claiming this doesn't work on a PAL wii, I was wondering does it work? I know it ships from the US, I'm assuming these people did not set their settings correctly, just want to make sure before I purchase.
Yes, but no GameCube support like the older Wii consoles. Which to me is a big plus. My WiiU took a crap on me when I went to do an update recently. Ridiculous, I never had any problems with it ever, and bought it brand new awhile back. So went for a used Wii on eBay for $30.
I have Nintendont I can play all game cube games snes genesis neo geo just soft mod it. I have both modded have nintedont for both they both play game cube games the exact same
Hold on, you compare a SCART cable but don't show it nor tell what analogue signal the SCART is carrying through the cable, the connector can carry several different analogue signals including RGB which is comparative to component. Also, we don't know what analogue signal the HDMI adapters are converting from, we could assume RGB but would rather be told from the products' descriptions since a fuzzy image is only as good as the source.
I purchased one of these, played with the Wiis and TVs settings to get it to work, but no matter what I did.. it had a constant image waving problem. All four sides/edges of the screen were constantly waving. I tried contacting the maker and all I got was a "oh well..." So.. I wouldn't recommend this product.
A better comparison would of been a component to hdmi converter. Like the Portta. I have used the cheap wii to hdmi adapters and they are no good. @@WickedGamerCollector ya but that game doesn’t have the audio clipping issue like Donkey Kong so sadly it wasn’t a good test. It seems the audio is boosted over stock still but maybe not quite as much as the Wii2HDMI
With the HDMI converter, in my smart TV I cannot select the "EDTV/HDTV (480p)" option. It's greyed out. Why?
That is weird... what wii do you have ? A wii mini ?
@@WickedGamerCollector No, a classical Wii. Maybe there is need of a certain kind of TV to enable the EDTV/HDTV option. With a classical wii hdmi converter I can select only 50Hz or 60Hz .. and another problem is a lag/delay when you give the commands with the wii remote (I think the problem is the smart TV)
Salut, j'ai un soucis avec ma console. J'ai un écran noir depuis que j'ai modifié les paramètres d'affichage en HDTV... J'ai testé avec un câble YUV mais exactement la même chose... Comment faire ?
Where is the Hyperkin Wii HDMI cable here?
ive bought 4 different hdmi adapters from Amazon, none of them ever worked.
None at all? Did you try different cables? They should at least give a picture, horrible as it may be ... if not: probably need a better cable as most digital cables either give a signal, or not (or keep disconnecting/black screening in between).
@@CommDante yeah tried them on different tvs, different cables, different Wii. 🤷 That's my luck.
@@punkbutler88
Weird, most seem kinda crappy in quality...but at least work... hope you got your money back.
Have you noticed any increased input latency with this thing?
I'm not the right guy to ask this.
Don't really notice these things somehow or it needs to be 5 seconds or something like that 😆
where do i still get a Mayflash for price like $20 ?
Amazon
Ive had two of the generic ones they both had distorted sound. Very audible when you hit the home button. And you get black bars on the edges of the screen.
Edit: same problem with the mayflash. Only when my TV volume is above a certain level.
very useful tanks
Great to hear that .. thanks for watching 👍
tanks lol
The comparison is handy but I can’t tell any difference between the Wii2HDMI and the mayflash, but that just might be your upscaler..
I miss my old HDMIKEY...
I need a 2023 version of this for my wii
They did made something new only for the Game Cube & SNES
Does anyone knows FOR SURE if this mayflash gets the component signal or the composite like the wii2hdmi does?
I've got the cheapest eBay special adapter. Paid 5$i think and i haven't had 1 issue with it.
Will it work for stop WiFi errors?
What does a picture signal have to do with WiFi? .... probably: don't have big walls/glass between Wii and your router would solve the 'WiFi' problem....
A HDMI adapter for sure won't. Unless in some rare occasion where 'some device' draws power away from other peripherils to 'give WiFi'.... but I've yet to see it, in my LIFE.
Hi Wicked. Do they do anything like this for the ps1 🤔🤔 Many thanks. Keep up the great work, much appreciated 🤩🤩🕹🕹
I use the Hyperkin cable and looked at some video to compare the colors against Dolphin and it is the best all in one option. Does the Mayflash adapter passthrough the 480p signal ? (Edit : It seems to be the case with the information I got online.)
The difference between the two is so unbelievably minuscule its no where near worth it being 4x the price.
I use the cheap HDMI one works well enough, picture isn't exactly great on the WII in the first place.
You can use ULGX enhanced version to disable the deflicker filter
My tv will not display widescreen when using this mayflash adapter, anyone else have the same issue?
It stays 4x3 no matter which way you set it. I have it on a 50” led tv
What games? Not all GC/Wii game even have widescreen iirc, although I think most Wii games have that option .... maybe try some TV options?
Maybe your TV doesn't like 480p, so whatever you got defaults to 720p?
i have the same problem at the menu too (neather if i run games )do you have find solution ?
how is this compared to playing wii games on the wii u?
wii u vwii hdmi output is terrible
@@gamecubeplayer damn...
Wii U has a pretty decent digital output, better than Wiis ... but it's upscaling isn't perfect. Best is to set output in 480p and use something like mClassic orso ... even though the Wii U upscaling ísn't that bad/worth the 100$ extra for just using Wii on Wii U ...
If you also got other older consoles (that output at 480p/720p) though, you might want to consider it.
GC is best on an older GC with Digital Output though, but only by a small margin.
@@CommDante ahh okay much thanks for the info!
This might be a silly question but due to multiple reviews on the UK amazon claiming this doesn't work on a PAL wii, I was wondering does it work? I know it ships from the US, I'm assuming these people did not set their settings correctly, just want to make sure before I purchase.
@@AlexMit-yj7rp nice thanks
@@AlexMit-yj7rp Damn really? I've used a cheap HDMI dongle and the virtual console games worked
Hey the wii u has and hdmi port. And has wii console built in
Yes, but no GameCube support like the older Wii consoles.
I have both modded have nintedont for both they both play game cube games the exact same
@@justindoucette1841 Nice!
I don’t know where you found your pricing because the Mayflash on is $15 and the other is $8 so it’s not 4 times more expensive
$15 is ridiculous...lol
does it actually output 1080p or 960 p or something like that ?
Wasn't it not max res. 480p with the wii ?
Im looking for upscaling GC dignal cuz for wii im using my wiiu. So if im right the mayflash is the best way to have a good signal?
Personally it is difficult to see by the way ... mayflash does have better singal out.
Some how you can't see that on RUclips 🙄
Hold on, you compare a SCART cable but don't show it nor tell what analogue signal the SCART is carrying through the cable, the connector can carry several different analogue signals including RGB which is comparative to component. Also, we don't know what analogue signal the HDMI adapters are converting from, we could assume RGB but would rather be told from the products' descriptions since a fuzzy image is only as good as the source.
MAYFLASH is always reliable.
MAYFLASH release one N64 TO HDMI converter . Is it possible to make review for this new adaper?
Ali-Express Cheap Wii2HDMI Dongle - best way !!
Mayflash and Wii2HDMI look more or less the same.
I'd just use the official Wii component cable myself.
Be advised that some TVs may display a 'Mode Not Supported' error message. Just seek advice first.
Mayflash equals quality
Please install wii u menu on wii
Looked the same to me
Split screen/zoom in would have been helpful.
Honestly
I purchased one of these, played with the Wiis and TVs settings to get it to work, but no matter what I did.. it had a constant image waving problem. All four sides/edges of the screen were constantly waving. I tried contacting the maker and all I got was a "oh well..." So.. I wouldn't recommend this product.
Почему так смазано? Не включен режим hdtv 480p? У меня через компонент картинка гораздо чётче
I can’t tell the different either my eyes is bad or something else
mayflash is the same price as the aliexpress one currently
My Mini Wii wont work with component cables either...anyone else have this problem?
What I know of is that the mini wii only haves AV out option 😅
A better comparison would of been a component to hdmi converter. Like the Portta. I have used the cheap wii to hdmi adapters and they are no good. Mayflash is better but it does not support virtual console games example like Mario Kart 64 which is a big bummer for me. I just purchased the Portta component to Hdmi to compare with the mayflash and also to see if the Portta converter can work with Virtual Console games
How .much of a difference do you see?
@@olsonbryce777 Not much of a difference but I would still go with the portta since it uses component cables to hdmi. I have been using it ever since and works great no issues. Got it under $20 from amazon and I already had component cables. Also I got the virtual consolse games to work with both devices.
@@juniorrivera1680 When you say you got Virtual Console games to work with "both devices", do you mean the Portta as well as the Mayflash?
@@soridosuneku Yes. You have to do something to make the virtual console games to work. An update on a wii made them not work but doing this fixes it. If you are having issues with vc games lmk and i can give you the steps
@@alexrivera2333 I want to know
Isn’t the Wii U the best HDMI solution for the Wii ?! JK, no seriously it is but very informative vid
Im starting to think wiis outlast wiius from just a hardware vs passage of time perspective. These bricks be going strong since 2006 man...
Didn't work
I got big whit hd one you have and its ace but coz cheep id like this one
if you are in a buget you sould get wii2hdmi
The sound thing is something I don't really like
'More expensive', not 'more expensiver'.
"way more expensiver" lol
the Wii without GameCube ports (RVL-101) has a sightly better video quality
Can't go wrong with either or, personally I don't think it's worth the money the wii2hdmi looks great , yes the mayflash is better but I'm on a budget and my eyes aren't that good anyway. I'll stick with the regular wii2hdmi.
My 2012, 43" LG 1080p tv has 3 HDMI, VGA input and output, SCART, composite and component.
Fast forward 2021, 2022. Browsing trough catalogues of various 4K tv sets: LG, SAMSUNG, SONY, TOSHIBA, PANASONIC, PHILIPS, HISENSE, TCL, etc...
What do they have in common? None of them has the component input! Everyone does include a composite (RCA), but I have yet to find a model with component. Obviously, they want to streamline (or simplify) manufacturing of PCB, but what person wants a composite over the component? Or why even include RCA in the first place?!
I just got a new lg 4k with components out and various game ready options its great so far
@@bal9717 congratulations. You've must have got the top of the line model. The mainstream ones. 55", 65" and even 75" range do not have a component out, composite only. Why do they even include a composite is a mystery to me. Over here, you got the choice of 2: entry level or a the most advanced model on the market. You want a model that includes a component interface? That would be a kidney, heart and a lung Mr. 😢😢😢
@@JustPeasant mine is 65. The motion in this set is really smooth my P4 pro in game mode looks so real that hdr really nice too
A lot of old 'legacy' junk like (video) camera's use composite .... very few devices use RGB/Component (without having an alternative), it's a format that never really got 'embraced' ....
I just bought a wii2hdmi on the strength of your previous videos😒🙄🤦 totally confused.
Wii2hdmi is not bad at all... and for that amount of money we can't complain.
Mayflash is the best only 4x the price and image looks little bit better question remains what dongle does makes you happy 😄
i choice wii2hdmi because i only pay 20bucks for my wii console mayflash is too expensive lol i think
I have a wii2hdmi and the quality sucks!!! Its actually worst. The screen was small and it had lines oing across the screen. My component cables look better.
The Mayflash is Not better than the Wii2HDMI, they both look fuzzy.
Have you ever played the wii?
