@@rboigobrr1489. Yeah Model 1 Nintendo Wii could play Gamecube games. The top cover could be lifted and it showed 4 Gamecube controller ports and the cover behind that one showed two Gamecube memory card ports. You put the Gamecube game in like a Wii game. Model 1 Wii can be spotted as it is the one that stands upright and is the most common. The Model 2 one laid down and couldn't play Gamecube games. We don't talk about Wii Mini/Model 3. It was horrible and could only play Wii games with composite cables and it had no online capabilities. Some Wii games allowed Gamecube controller support like Smash Bros:Brawl and Mario Kart:Wii and that's how I play those two games.

The interesting thing about Metroid Prime Trilogy was that (at least in the US), the actual Wii version became very difficult to obtain. After they stopped production on it, it became a rare item and difficult to buy. Fortunately, if the availability of the Physical edition is too hard or expensive, they did re-release the entire Trilogy on the Wii U, in the e-Shop, of that system. $20 for the whole thing is way cheaper than what people often ask for the Physical Wii release.
It's a testament to the Wii's library that I didn't play most of the top 10 back in the day and STILL think the Wii is one of the best gaming experiences I've ever had

I feel it is the best Kirby game. Though the best Dreamland game in my opinion is Kirby 64. Return to Dreamland is fantastic and a wonderful sequel to Kirby 64, but Kirby 64 stood out as basically being 2.5D at a time when developers were moving entirely to 3D. This move by Hal was risky, but it paid off. Kirby Yarn was weird, but it really captured the classic Nintendo magic.
Oh man, 3D All Stars was a really lazy Collection, especially compared to the Dream Collection. @@netweed09 I think scrapping Breath of the Wild is a little extreme, but I can see where you are coming from. Skyward Sword was a necessary step towards making an open world Zelda. Although it's world was more confined (apart from the sky), it served to polish the other mechanics, and to introduce things like base level 'alchemy', and collecting monster parts, bugs, and other miscellaneous items without the use of bottles, among other things. Skyward Sword had a manual weapon upgrade system that would become available to you as you progress through the game, but Breath of the Wild took that further by leveling the weapons automatically as you progress, with the durability system ensuring that you would always be getting new ones, thus eliminating the need for a weapon upgrade system at all. @@ryanberry8395 From what I have read, it is mostly disliked for 2 reasons. 1: Linearity. Metroid Prime 1 was pretty much an open world game to an extent, and allowed you to go anywhere pretty early on. I think it's an underwhelming complaint, but not completely illogical to bring up. 2. They didn't like the introduction of other "characters" besides Samus. Having other people talk in a Metroid game seems to have been an issue for some of the fanbase ever since Metroid Fusion. 3. Wii Motion controls aren't for everyone despite being superior in FPS games than a traditional controller (there's been tests done that show motion controls to have similar accuracy to keyboard an mouse.)
@@Mr.Foxhat the linearity is alright it’s not awful it’s a bit similar to fusion. The other hunters actually make the game have a good story in my opinion and the motion controls are fantastic. The only issue I have with this game is the loading times and au announcements
Great list! based on your reasons for loving Skyward Sword and your love for both Zack&Wiki and Excite Bots, I can see you have the RIGHT taste in game design.
Monster hunter Tri needs to be here. The wii remote controls were great, way better than using the pro controller. It always gets forgotten because of the Ultimate edition on Wii U + 3ds.... But the wii version was brilliant and the online was solid! Seriously though, I hung on till they shut the servers down. That was so sad, loosing contact with such an amazing community that were just lovely and welcoming..... It's really sad it gets forgotten (it was my first MH and I still play it now and then... Clocked 400 hours or more into it)
So many great games. I think it will be the source of many future hidden gems lists. No More Heroes, Madworld, Zack and Wiki, Boom Blox, Kirbys Epic Yarn, Boy and his Blob, Pandoras Tower, House of the Dead Overkill, Red Steel 2. Lots of gold to mine if you can sift through the shovelware.
I know it’s not going to make a list like this, but Go Vacation will always be my favorite Wii game. So much fun running around the island, exploring and having fun.
I think it would just be crime for someone to limit themselves to merely 21 Wii games in general. There are so many worthwhile titles on the system that this number is far too low to truly represent its worth. From the most popular to underrated gems.
I know a lot of people like to hear the gamers' opinions of the professional critics, but lists like this being based on gamers' votes really skews the results to the highest selling games. And that favors 1st party and major franchise games. One of my favorite Wii games could never make this list because it was based on a movie that flopped so it's sales suffered despite it being great; Speed Racer. And while the guy in the video joked about Excite Trucks, that game and it's sequel Excite Bots were amazing and did a lot of things I never saw before in a racing game. But of course Mario Kart Wii is on the list because everyone bought it. It was a fine game, but it was also starting to feel pretty derivative at that point.
@@quentinarchpomple-bigginsw352 MadWorld was one of the best mature games for the Wii. The only thing overrated about the game, was the controversy, over Madworld being released on the Wii.
Overkill, in my opinion, is the best on rails light gun game ever made. Not only did it have a ridiculous amount of replayability and unique unlockables, but it had hilarious humor and fantastic acting. One of the most memorable Wii moments I can think of is in level 1 of Overkill there's this kid in a wheelchair. The bad guy slaps him and his glasses falls off. Then the next scene has him wearing the glasses as the devs mocked B rated films in the game.

@@shardofkingdoms9816 Yessss, I played exhibition matches of that with my brother all the time and it was great. It also had an amazing single player adventure mode.
To any Wii fan that owns a Wii U, I'd highly recommend using the "MClassic". It attaches via HDMI, and upscales the image, add anti aliasing (something Wii games desperately need) and some other post processing effects. It's not cheap, but it breaths new life into Wii games. For me, the almost complete lack of anti aliasing on Wii games really bothered me. This doesn't eliminate it, but in a lot of Wii games, it really cleans up the image.
I just can't agree with that imo the SNES can't be topped with the Switch being a very close second. But i see the appeal of the wii sure but imo it was filled with shuvelware and i really didn't like the wii remote.
Games are what makes a console. I personally think that the Switch has the best games. It has a fuck ton of excellent port and remakes and it also has the best Zelda game of all time.
@@bernached1065 Definitely the Switch has certainly upped Nintendo's game the Switch has massive third party support, and the Nintendo exclusives i feel takes a more quality over quantity approach.
Man, i really like Twilight princess because the link's fighting style depends on different movements from Wii mote. Breath of the wild expands over the exploration, but i miss the combat system.
As someone who had major issues with MP3’s controls I would say it wasn’t any comparison to mouse and keyboard. I had big problems playing the game until I figured out a control scheme that actually worked for me in the game. Never had that issue with any mouse and keyboard shooter; just started playing.
This year I finally bought Metroid Prime Trilogy and could try all those games people.talk so much about. Now I understand the hype for MP4. Best purchase ever!
@@twincherries6698 My copy of F-Zero GX is one of my most precious treasures. Just because I love the game so much. It's sad that such an exceptional and thrilling racing game has been neglected by time, left generations of consoles in the past.
"Twilight Princess felt like the biggest game ever at that point." Well, it did have the largest budget of any game from Nintendo until Breath of The Wild from what I recall.
I actually like Breath1 more than Twilight. Twilight was going to be the Best game ever; but then they dropped Grandadorf in and ruined all of Zant's build-up and Legacy. It totally shattered the game for me, I sold it soon after. Not to mention the utterly boring Water-temple and awful cheesy '3 strike animation' and tune when you fought Bosses. The game generally had to be played on Hero mode for any real challenge.
Agreed. The Sensor bar should make a comeback. If they make a Switch that's console only, I would hope they add the sensor bar port from the Wii U (as well as a couple USB 3.1 ports).
Yes that's a great Zelda game compared with Breath of the wild... They destroyed the classic themes in Zelda. To not have a sword that lasts before the master sword and it runs out of energy. Why? I wonder why they did like that.

@@Mr.Foxhat btw how would you rank the prime games? I would rank them 1>3>2
Great list! based on your reasons for loving Skyward Sword and your love for both Zack&Wiki and Excite Bots, I can see you have the RIGHT taste in game design.
“it’s kinda hard to take [skyward sword] off the wii”
yeah about that...
Skyward Sword HD
@@zzz43344 not that much hd tbh
@@beegyoshi8401 yea more like skyward sword but motion controls are optional
@@thund3r94 more like skyward sword but with a 25 dollar paywall on qol improvements
@@beegyoshi8401 it's definitely more pricey, but it's BY FAR the definitive version.
Clocked 400 hours or more into it)
This list is the best game list on youtube to me. Thank you for the feeling!
Did you like house of the dead 2&3 returns?
Great video! Maybe in the future, you could make a list of the 21 best "hidden gems" on the Wii.
I'd recommend checking out Pandoras Tower if you haven't already.
Epic Mickey should be on there.
Excitebots
I know it’s not going to make a list like this, but Go Vacation will always be my favorite Wii game. So much fun running around the island, exploring and having fun.
My top 3 :
1) The Legend of Zelda : Twilight Princess
2) Super Mario Galaxy
3) Xenoblade Chronicles
It's a shame MadWorld and House of the Dead: Overkill, didn't make the list.
It was a fine game, but it was also starting to feel pretty derivative at that point.
imo MadWorld is overrated, but Overkill is fantastic
With that voice you could be a voice actor, if you aren't already, a treat to listen to
Sounds like Siri
"Hi Im Jon Cartwright. I like the wii"
Best intro of all time lmao
I’m surprised wario ware smooth moves wasn’t here
Sexy Pepsi it's a good game, but just gets repetitive once you unlock everything it has to offer you. That's the major flaw in every Warioware game.
Right

my top 20 in no particular order:
Xenoblade Chronicles ( 2nd favorite game of all time...bought all 3 versions! )

Yes yes and yes 👏👏👏
Oh. . .oh, no.
What a Great List.
Wii is such an amazing and unique console with a great variety of games.
But also... Where's Punch Out?
I fucking loved Mario Kart Wii. The graphics, music, refined gameplay, amazing roster of characters, many great courses, and the introduction of motorbikes. The Wii Wheel was cool too. Despite being just a white piece of plastic, inserting the Wiimote inside that thing and playing was so epic (For me, at least)
Just bought a Wii, Mario Kart and a Game Cube controller just to play it.
Just set up my retro gaming space and this list was awesome to pad my shopping list. Cheers to the voters and Nintendo life
is the wii retro now?
I'm upset that none of the Mario sports games on Wii were on here, especially Mario Strikers Charged, that game is an underrated masterpiece.
I agree. Mario Super Sluggers is another hidden gem
@@shardofkingdoms9816 Yessss, I played exhibition matches of that with my brother all the time and it was great. It also had an amazing single player adventure mode.
This video made me feel warm and fuzzy, and glad to be an Nintendo fan! ❤️
Jon has an epic voice. EPIC.
Wii is Nintendo's best console
I just can't agree with that imo the SNES can't be topped with the Switch being a very close second. But i see the appeal of the wii sure but imo it was filled with shuvelware and i really didn't like the wii remote.
Games are what makes a console. I personally think that the Switch has the best games. It has a fuck ton of excellent port and remakes and it also has the best Zelda game of all time.
I thought it was the ds
Yea... NO dude
@@bernached1065 Definitely the Switch has certainly upped Nintendo's game the Switch has massive third party support, and the Nintendo exclusives i feel takes a more quality over quantity approach.
loved this vid

I really enjoyed skyward sword and Mario Kart wii
the camera change at 0:06 is hilarious
How lucky are we that Xenoblade Chronicles exists.
Yep. Makes up for all the horrors of the world.

great list! Thanks, am... only days away from plugging in my first Wii!
Mario Galaxy unforgettable moments
Sonic colors- cries in corner*
Mario kart Wii was such a step down from double dash
Man, i really like Twilight princess because the link's fighting style depends on different movements from Wii mote. Breath of the wild expands over the exploration, but i miss the combat system.
As someone who had major issues with MP3’s controls I would say it wasn’t any comparison to mouse and keyboard. I had big problems playing the game until I figured out a control scheme that actually worked for me in the game. Never had that issue with any mouse and keyboard shooter; just started playing.
This list is incorrect; there's no Mario Sport Mix.
Thank you for honoring the Wii. I still play my old console games regularly.
The fact that Sonic Colors is not in this list deeply upsets me
Same. Best sonic game on the system
yea thats what i was thinking, i was surprised no sonic game was on here
This year I finally bought Metroid Prime Trilogy and could try all those games people.talk so much about.
Now I understand the hype for MP4. Best purchase ever!
Ah Wii, the system where it's easy to find games for unlike the GameCube
Wii was very popular, so many probably owns some of the games, where as Gamecube, not so many.
@@twincherries6698 My copy of F-Zero GX is one of my most precious treasures. Just because I love the game so much. It's sad that such an exceptional and thrilling racing game has been neglected by time, left generations of consoles in the past.
Needs more Sin & Punishment: Star Successor and We Cheer 2. Those are *MY* two most played Wii games, that's for sure!
Kirby’s Epic Yarn or Wario Ware Smooth Moves or Punch Out Wii or Wii Sports or Sonic Colors or Nights Journey into Dreams?
My favourites are Mega Man 9 and Sin & Punishment: Successor of the Skies. Glad to see Tatsunoko vs. Capcom made it in the video.
“And soon that bang would be reignited” Let’s go babyyyy
Man, I’m so happy Jon Cartwright is back!! He was my favorite on GX. Great video. 👍🏿
Just happy to see Resident Evil 4 getting the recognition it deserves.
Best game ever made. Ever!
I have motion sickness issue, But I really want to play Metroid Prime.
"Twilight Princess felt like the biggest game ever at that point."
Well, it did have the largest budget of any game from Nintendo until Breath of The Wild from what I recall.
Disagree. Breath was overrated.
Agreed. The Sensor bar should make a comeback. If they make a Switch that's console only, I would hope they add the sensor bar port from the Wii U (as well as a couple USB 3.1 ports).
BRO LEGEND OF ZELDA TWILIGHT PRINCESS 😭😭😭
Yes that's a great Zelda game compared with Breath of the wild...
They destroyed the classic themes in Zelda.
To not have a sword that lasts before the master sword and it runs out of energy.
Why?
I wonder why they did like that.
This is a surprising list!
cute guy with that deep voice who loves Rhythm Heaven?
Cant believe NSMBWii is not on here. Was my childhood. Going to have to sign up and right that now 😃
That voice is deeper than my thoughts
Twilight Princess is amazing. Every Wii owner should have this game.
Twilight Princess is a Gamecube game, Wii version is terrible.
It’s not a GameCube game. It was released for the Wii first.
