Yeah it may not have been what we came to know as Hollywood Hogan but they did talk Heel turn in the WWF and then him taking time off. But it doesn't sound like Vince was ever for it. Even George foreman said that the grill was initially offered to Hogan. They had the same manager so it’s not out of the realm of possibility
That part may be true... but as often as not in Hogan's retellings he'll throw in some comment about a "Cosmic Monkey Wrench" Costing him the deal (as cited here, 'missed a phone call")... when just as possible, the reality was he analyzed the deal and actively passed for 'reasons'...
Hogan said he missed the call he was go a take the grill ideal if u believe that
If the Foreman Grill hadn't gone on to have absolutely meteoric success nobody would doubt this was true. Of all the stories Hogan has claimed it's hardly unbelievable
I remember it a little differently, Hogan started becoming old hat when he wrestled The Undertaker. Everyone I knew was cheering on the Undertaker during their title match. There's even a moment during the match where you see Hogan look baffled because he can hear people in the live crowd not cheering him on. It became painfully obvious he was in freefall when he faced off against Sid Justice though, for all they've now edited the cheers for Sid out when it's rebroadcast.
That undertaker match I was spilt 50/50. Hogan was what got me into wrestling so was always a fan. But Undertaker was the new fresh guy and I became a fan of his right away. I didn't know who I wanted to win.
Too much of the same vs evolution where as taker earned it and evolved you know kinda the exact opposite of hogan
Personally I was more in favor of Hogan during his match with Taker. Yes, Hulkamania had run its course by then but Hogan was still Hogan, and while I liked Taker when he was Mark Callous Undertaker at that time was still too new, too much of a gimmick guy. I was surprised that he got the title that early and not very surprised that he lost it so soon, at the time he was just the guy between Hogan and Flair, it took a bit more time for Undertaker to really stand on his own
And when sid eliminated hogan in the 92 royal rumble, sid was getting cheered by the crowd. Hulkamania was slowly dying(or maybe already dead) by 91-92.

Nobody's ever taken away what Hogan did inside the ring or what he did for wrestling. It's the behind the scenes stuff, like not wanting work with Bret Hart, or lose to Shawn Michaels. The same can not be said for Stone Cold Steve Austin. People here didn't know who he was, but they knew who Hogan was.
I thought the George Forman thing actually happened except Hogan passed on it and did the meatball maker instead
Being an 80s kid I will ALWAYS Have fond memories and love for the hulkster. Hulk vs Andre was the scariest match I ever experienced. I stopped watching when he lost to the Warrior cause it crushed me.
I came back when I was told that he Was a Bad Guy now in WCW.
Regardless of his crazy antics outside of the ring , I'll always love Hogan. Hogan and Macho had some of the coolest promos that I still remember today.
Remember when Hogan looked at the camera on live television and asked for the countdown time and they said we're rolling. And he later blamed it on Macho Man.
Randy got so into the character and was going crazy backstage and so they started rolling early before Hogan was ready. According to the Huckster.
Hogan is a perfect backstage politician!
Austin over Hogan as the GOAT all day long
The irony of Jim not liking another person's reckless exaggeration
The lack of self awareness with Jim sometimes worries me.
Personally, I'd love to see the hulkster up on stage jamming out master of puppets
What does Corney think of Hogan as a heel? Should have they turned him earlier?
They should of turned him a long time ago but everybody was worried it would kill him rather than put a fresh spark on him. I thought it was refreshing at first until all the stupid bullshit came. Rodman and the 3,000 NWO members etc etc
I can't believe I only just now found this show. These guys are great
Hogan is the Steven Seagal of rassling.
Hogan could never make anything as good as Under Siege
@@tvtitlechampion3238 I'm referring to the fact that Seagal is confirmed to be one of the biggest bullshit artists in Hollywood regarding his ethnic background, his training etc, constantly making stuff up about himself.
@@Forever_Thatter oh, yeah, that's for sure, too. I'm just saying that Seagal got one thing right (two, if you count bagging Kelly LeBrock in her prime).
The foreman grill is still baffling. Thats literally not how those deals work and it takes some balls to claim that
Hogan promos was great. One of the best face ever. Even as a heel.
*You haven't watched much pro wrestling. And no, he wasn't one of the best face promos ever.*
@@MattSingh1 i guess you're new to wrestling lol
Hogan was a character that happened to wrestle. Flair is a wrestler who has character.
Amen
Travis well done Well Done!!!!
Oh no that bastard Hulk Hogan must have used the bread and butter pickles on that burger. Everyone knows JIM doesn't like bread and butter pickles on his damn burger.
In defense of Hogan, the reason he didn’t put a lot of effort into his matches here in the States is because he didn’t need to. If you can make an entire stadium full of people pop in unison just by tearing off your shirt, cupping your hand to your ear, and then flexing your biceps, then there’s no reason to do a lot in the ring.
Yeah so blame the gullible fans as well
@@AndrewNewZealand Why should the fans be blamed for buying into the act when that's literally the whole point of kayfabe?
The one thing I'll always remember about the beginning of the end of his initial run in WWF is when he won the '91 royal rumble and they kept switching in ring camera angles to try and hide the fact that fans who would've gone fucking nuts for it just a couple of years earlier just got up started filing out like they wanted to beat traffic rather than watch him celebrate in the ring.
Have enjoyed JC and his entertainment since Mid-South and my teens in Tulsa. He represents pro-wrestling the best in these documentaries as you can easily tell is it his life. None better IMO.
I have always respected Jim. He tells it as it is with no sugar coating.
“Hulk Hogan wouldn’t a wrist lock from a wrist watch” Gorilla Monsoon
Hogan did what he needed to. Facts.
True. Biggest mainstream name ever. I think he will always be the guy to a non wrestling fan if they had to name one wrestler
@@pe8324 From a fan's point of view absolutely. Jim and other wrestlers are speaking from a different point of view. Stuff they saw and dealt with us fans have no clue about. Unless we are told. Then it's up to us if we choose to believe it or not.
@@pe8324 I think Rock has surpassed him, but you're absolutely right. I appreciate Hogan more as time goes on.
@@natebaxter9551 in a few more years once all the 60s 70s and 80s folks are dead is when I'll agree with you.
@@natebaxter9551 It’s either Hogan, Rock, or Cena for me...
“HIS whole life is a work”-ultimate warrior on Hogan
I remember Bobby Heenan saying that the Wrestlemania 3 match was Andre's idea, to pass the torch to Hogan.
So there should be no question whether Andre was gonna put Hogan over or not. 😄
