Note I did a poor job of explaining why tiny houses:
The reason I'm suggesting the tiny houses is not because I think that's what everyone should live in but we can only solve this 1 of 2 ways with a deficit of 7 million homes in 5 years.
1: Stop immigration 100% and kick out 3 million people which no government will do.
2: Stop immigration and drastically ramp up housing construction to provide an additional 4 million units to get back to level demand.
If a builder can build one 4000sq ft house or six tiny houses 600 sq ft with the same time that'll solve the probelm 6 times faster. After the demand stabilizes then people can upgrade to full sized houses and the tiny houses can be used for students which is why they should be built around colleges and universities to plan for this.
The tiny houses would be a splint in the broken housing system to get us back to normal life.
Where I can appreciate your idea and I think it has merit. It’s not a simple as putting a little bit of concrete down for a foundation. Excavation, water, sewer, power, heat… there is an awful lot of preparation for any home build.
Finland has stopped homelessness. Their govt took care of it. Quebec looking at model and England is too. It can be done
Yes not everyone can appreciate a tiny home, but there are a lot who would. I've seen articles where people are living in one on their own land, I believe in BC and the "authorities" come along saying it's illegal. Regulations need to lighten up on having your own choice..the beurocracy, right. Instead of trailer parks, tiny homes. The liberals are throwing money..our money!..at everything that won't work for anyone but them. What was Feakland at?..some mobile home company making announcements and doing another liberal photo op in a hard hat, about building full size mobile homes.
There are a lot of retirees and young people that would appreciate their own space and actually owning it. Having space for a garden or bird feeders, a dog, or parking..perfect..and their own. Even rental options as a stepping stone to purchasing something bigger later on. There's also a lot to be said about living a minimalist lifestyle. And yes, it would absolutely help the housing crisis! Whether it's a first time home owner purchasing one or a current home owner or renter who wants to move to a smaller space, it opens up their place for a family or someone not interested in a smaller home. A million times better than the back seat of a car or a tent!

The IMBY House in Hamilton is wired into the main dwelling, as there was No Hydro Meter on the outside Wall. Tieing in Water n Sewer is simple! This house should never of had 12' Ceilings unless Sleeping Lofts were going to be built, as it's a waste of Heating energy! @ $150 K it's also way overpriced. If it was built on an Insulated Slab, Hot Water Heating could be used simply by using a Small 15 Gallon HoT Water Tank! A Boiler Contractor told me I could Heat my 700³ square foot House with a 20 Gallon electric HoT Water Heater! This IMBY House is only 480³ square feet! More south facing Windows would also capture Solar Gain in the winter month's when the Sun is Low! A concrete Slab would also absorb the radiation of the Sun! 😅
With permitting, the cost of materials, and Canadian building codes. even a tiny home will easily be $100,000 or more. Also, the price of even a small lot is crazy, unless you're out in the country. Now you need an approved septic system and a well. Most young Canadians are screwed. I'm moving into a 26 ft. box truck converted into a stealth tiny home. There's almost nowhere in Alberta that allows tiny homes on wheels.
Freeze immigration and go back to merit based . You need a skill to move here
It’s a woke government. NOTHING is merit based. You have to meet check box criteria.
and work in an assembly line like the rest of the skilled people
100% Skills and professionals that is needed to make Canada Great, raise the bar......
Many have protest skills
It’s extremely difficult to come here as skilled worker. But the same time streets are flooded by Hamas supporters, I doubt that one of them came as professional worker
Sean Frasier acts like every bullshitter I've ever worked with. It's the same with them - they bullshit their way to a job, then when they suck at it they just get moved around to another job.
I'm pretty sure that he is one of Trudeau's good buddies. He has a lot of them in his government. Problem is not just cronyism but also that they are as moronic and incompetent as he is.
City of Toronto employees as well
when you are the dumbest person in the room, aka Trudeau, you find ever dumber people to make yourself look good, though this has been a tragic fail, not for them, only for Canadian taxpayers
So true.
All I can think of is the WE SCAM... Trudeau and friends and family made million off that one and they built 1 or 2 schools and took pictures of them and said they built dozens and got$$ from Canada gov't...
Sean Fraser is EXACTLY like the hard working Bosses Son that knows absolutely nothing about his father’s business but is GIVEN the business to run when Daddy retires!! Pathetic, absolutely pathetic!!!
ya, well, his daddy Trudeau knows only how to steal money from taxpayers, he couldnt run a lemonade stand
Grandfather company he gave to his son then to grand child that never done it.

@@chrisellioitt5240 I have seen it first hand in my community. It is really sad to witness.
why would anyone want this 425 sq feet box, it is so tiny, 30% of your income to live in a shack in a backyard! No thanks, plus Canadians deserve space, they are not fixing it bs bandaid. They are rebranding the trailer park, we had so many people out of poverty until 2016. People here deserve better, I grew up in a larger house and I had freedom but space and different rooms are pertinent in preventing depression.
There were 300,000 homeless starving Canadians...THEN Sean imported 4 MILLION more??
The government provides housing for immigrants. The ONLY people I see on the streets, and in tent encampments are white Canadians. This is in London, Ontario. I lived in Belleville, Ontario too, same thing.
Yes but it's our money looking after them. First they take there pocket money for lying to Canadians it's nice weather coming need more people in. Ottawa it's our right to protest this corrupt government an must be held accountable

A disgrace to Canada , who loses a million people ? Fraser does , who builds no houses Frasef does . Does your hand shake picking up your cheque ?
I can't believe he has the nerve to show his face in Pictou County
The housing crisis and cost of living is so bad that women and couples can't afford to have children .

Yes he does!
Voting for the Liberals in the last election makes you look stupid.
Takes credit but won't take accountability for loosing 1M people 😶
Not smart at all
The narcissist playbook
Or a billion dollars in infrastructure funds.
He does nothing more than personify what it means to be liberal in these times! It is very sad and unrecognizable compared to past Liberals.
He has 3 top qualities to become a Liberal PM: good looking, stupid, and a non-truth storyteller.
Lying makes them fugly .. let’s change good looking to.. full head of hair 😂
Have you seen most of the Liberal MP'S compared to the Conservatives?Take Freeland, for example, she only checks 2 of the boxes.

500, 000 IMMIGRANTS A YEAR, and 10,000 new homes per year DOES NOT ADD UP!
Heard he lost one million immigrants, hope he can lose the other two million.
Yeah the country is losing a lot of immigrants. Half of the friends that I grew up with don’t live in the country anymore.
"The very concept of a nation founded by European settlers Is offensive to me. Old stock White Canadians are an unpleasant relic, and quite frankly, replaceable. And we will replace them."

The younger generation wants a house, not a rental unit
I agree. You cannot raise a family in a rental unit and expect to retire someday. Just doesn't work.
This guy mentioning grade 8 math class says ALL I need to hear. That's the education level of our government.
🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡 they all think we are stupid.
Sean Fraser did a bad job of being a immigration minster .
Won't be much better in housing...but great for 15 minute cities...my opinion only
When a liberal mentions math I get scared..
Most Liberals only have liberal arts degrees. They can't get a job doing anything else, so they become politicians and still believe what their left-wing university professors told them.
Vassey gets to be a real reporter now that she has left CBC.
she is great!
Let’s not forget he was the failed Minister of Immigration too.
Lost a million immigrants, gee, what a great choice for a minister!
I guess he has the Justin Trudeau seal of approval…. This government is so sad. We have become a laughing stock of the world.
Close the borders concentrate on serving the citizens. Too many international students competing with rentals.
10+ living in 5 and half's
They won't close the borders. The government will just pay the huge hotel costs at our all-inclusive resorts.
These people are the new Liberal voters.
Not just the rentals canadian tax dollars built the education infrastructure and our kids can't even get in
You can’t build affordable houses with overpriced materials.
💯
Hubby went to hardware store tube of no nails caulking, three long skinny pieces of wood trim, 70 bucks...Not kidding!!
Good point
Not only that, but they want these houses to have triple paned glass, extra insulation, et.al which is fine and cheap to maintain over time, but certainly not affordable off the bat.
"You'll own Nothing and you'll be Happy"
Klaus's minions hard at work
This was an abject failure as Minister of immigration, and now he’s minister of housing? How does that happen??
He was part of Justin Trudeaus wedding party, along with Marc Miller, Steven Guilbeault, and Gerald Butts. It's a big corrupt club and we aren't part of it.
Liberals fail UP.
Trudeau. Is cause of it all an his payed do all's lying for them breaking our laws by not doing there jobs instead let's screw them more an more till there no more an we needed stop it asap
He also forgets that he was the Immigration Minister and blames the past Immigration Minister of the housing issues under his new Jurisdiction.
Exactly.
Hey Sean. I have a silver bullet! Elect a conservative government to balance the budget, lower inflation and get shit done!
Lending Canadian Taxpayers money to Canadian Taxpayers who build homes for Canadians. Then the government takes credit for the homes built.
Foreign developers building expensive high rises are benefiting.
Our Canada Pensions are under the control of the we. F!
So 11 000 units were built at a cost of $18 000 000 000, that's $1 630 000/house!!!
The Liberals will give the home building contracts to their Liberal buddies who will disburse the funds to the actual building contractors but not before first skimming off the top for their handling charges.
We know this from examples like the Arrivescam app.
But hey, the Canadian taxpayers are a bottomless well.
Insanity is thinking the(liberal's)people who got us into this mess will get us out of it. Sean is a perfect example of creating a crisis than take credit for any building built
150K for that tiny home and you don't own the property? The solution is to stop migration to Canada until we get a handle on things. How has our country improved with mass migration in the last 5 years? Our medical system has collapsed and we're paying billions for new immigrants to live in hotels.
To be fair, you don't own your property in any house in Canada.
Stop paying your property taxes and see if you own it.
Immigrants may get hotels, but seniors/disabled get thrown on the streets! Including in Danielle Smith’s Alberta, which treats seniors and the disabled worse than Ontario and Quebec combined!
@@evictioncarpentry2628 I get what you're saying but provided I pay my property taxes I have equity. Selling your house with a backyard tenant might not be attractive for buyers and your backyard tenant doesn't benefit from equity or safety in the result of a sale unless they are allotted their full money back as a result of a sale.
This really is a very unique offering for a select few but comes nowhere close to solving a real crisis.
@@mickfoley1413 Check out the CCFR court case on property rights that they lost in Ontario provincial court so far. Court concluded you don't have property right in Canada. It's being appealed, but another Liberal Minister came out and said the same thing.
I think having these houses in your yard with tenants is a complete liability in every way possible. Once you have a tenant, like the squatters of NY, they have more right then the home/land owner.
I think thats 150k to get it built on your property in the back. So you own the land already but 150k for just the construction seems pricy.
This Fraser has ZERO qualification. I am sure he couldn’t assemble a simple cheeseburger.
That burger would take 16 days to build, be small, inside out, upside down, on fire, sans cheese, and have a 3 million dollar price tag.
He and Guilbeault both look like they need showers!:SMH
haha
Cheeseburger? You are asking for too much, how about just plain toast
And how many encampments does he have in his riding? He couldn't care less about his constituents or whether they have a place to live!!🤬🤬
Many. I was out on Saturday with my dog in Sean’s riding. There are many living in tents here more going up every day. If I could attach pictures I would. Young women living alone in these places. Many of them are working which is the scariest
Probably build cardboard boxes for homes. They also want to get rid of natural gas to heat these homes. They're so crooked. I'm from Alberta. Danielle Smith will never let this happen
Waiting to do my journeymans exam, then moving to Alberta with the family🍻

It is stupid to think that the ones who created a problem should be in charge of fixing it. This government has a track record of failure and waste. This will not end well.
Gotta thank jagmeet we could of gotten. These clowns out long ago.
Incompetent
This government has made a big mistake taking on Alberta. They will lose. Alberta pays the lion share of transfers in this country. I think it’s time for the provinces to work together and omit this Federal government. If only they could block the transfers to this useless spendthrift government and show Canadians just how little the Feds should be doing and cut cut cut in the federal public service.
Your forgetting about federal income tax.....
The province's can't starve the dragon.....
Western seperation would totally shock the rest of canada, with no more money coming from Saskatchewan, Alberta.
Gondek already signed up. The stipulation was the rezone the entire city and get rid of single family.

Tiny houses are just a different name for the WEF pods.... Government is NOT the answer to a problem that they created in the first place.
The only major tool is the minister.
Why do the houses have to be tiny? We have more land than most countries on earth. Pre fab houses arent a new concept and can be built fast. It's only red tape and taxes stopping this, not materials or labour!
because F-JT & WEF believe in AI and throwing us humans to the side.
Because the cost of goods is astronomical high, the cost of labor is high.
Do you know how many of the homeless actually have skills to be able to build things? I've talked to many...and they would love that. Give them a purpose everyday. Every hour they put in working goes towards them having their own home. Win win
@@jennifermalo4193 you still need to pay them. Or pay for the materials. I’m not apposed to giving them jobs, but it still cost money either way that’s why they are smaller then what the average home would have been in the 70s-90s
@@kurtford6285 pay in time... Evaluate time. How many hours do you deem worthy of a new tiny home? When they have paid half of a tiny home, then they get one and continue to pay it off with time. By the time they get to half, their whole wellbeing has changed and a much lower risk of not following through...their half way there and they have a home.... This is where the government HAS to come in with subsidies for the builder
They want us in Gov rentals.
F them!😊
So, at $150,000, amortized over 10years (5.6%), the monthly payment for that tiny home is a little over $1,600per month- excluding the water/sewage, electrical, and gas for heating…. The owner would be operating at a significant loss in the mid- to long-term
and the property tax
They created all this
Why do we entrust those that caused the problem, to fix the problem, especially when they are the ones least affected by their decisions?
If we had functional opposition parties (NDP, Bloc), they would have made sure this incompetent government was tossed out five years ago.
Instead, what we have is a government that does not represent the people they are being paid to serve.
There's a company here in the island that will be building tiny homes and they are starting at $400,000 for a 1 bedroom, 800 square ft. WTF?! That's crazy.
Material costs shot up during lockdown and some never came down... Mattamy homes in ontario ( who I hate) had to hamstring the Lumber industry and say they weren't going to build 100k homes because the framing costs were breaking them.
That's when a 2x4x8 went from 3.33 to 16 bucks each....and crooked looking pieces of ish.
They f'd us all with supply chain shutdown that wasn't necessary
They say the proof is in the pudding and the pudding don't taste too good
Tiny homes are not the answer....
Deregulation is!
It takes to long to get permission and it cost to much as well as land is expensive.
I’m a firm believer rhannone will lead to the other
Stripping taxes is too
You are correct but even more immigration needs to temporarily halt the restart only when we have our infrastructure up to snuff then restart with proper planning to ensure immigration meets Canada’s needs, not the other way around. Furthermore our free healthcare (tax paid) should not be made available to newcomers until they have paid into the system long enough to have earned it. That applies to all social systems in Canada. This is how things are done in most countries around the world for a reason. And the immigrants/refugees need to understand they are coming to Canada, not a mini version of their country. You live by Canadian standards and laws. What we have isn’t the populous diversity our governments have been trying to sell us, we have multicultural conflicts within our borders and that needs to be fixed. We need a government willing to put a stop to the free for all immigration we currently have.
Guys even talking van life and even says that’s a way to give people “dignity” when it actually gives the opposite
@@user-lb4vf3qg7v agree
Does Klaus own him too?
Yes
The saddest thing is he’s literally the smartest liberal in the whole cabinet. It’s not even close.
actually rephrase that he is not the Dumbest . His slogan is Im dumb but not as dumb as the other Liberal MP s.
As a life long builder, I’ve watched middle men bureaucracy complicate the industry beyond comprehension over the last 3 decades. The price of housing reflects their greedy meddling. Unfortunately cookie cutter Sears units won’t meet the seismic demands here in BC anymore.
Structural engineering requirements for residential have also driven costs through the roof. It’s been way over complicated for decades now & sadly won’t be this simply solved.
When my father retired, he built an 800 sqft home back in '98 on a one acre lot he bought in the Bashaw area in Alberta. His home was a prebuilt model from Beaver Lumber at that time. The whole package was around $30,000.
That included the shingles, exterior doors, and windows. Everything else was extra.
In the end, after putting in the well, the weepers and the utilities, the total cost of the house, including the lot, was around $150,000.
It took him 1 year to build it. He even put in a wood cook stove and used it to heat the house. He built a large deck off the back to sit and watch the lake in the morning when he drank his coffee. He's an old school tradesmen (electrician).
He's in his 80s now and had to sell because he couldn't manage it himself anymore.
I shudder to think what this would cost today to build this.
Good on him. Ya, those days are definitely gone. You can’t even get a postage stamp of a lot for that price anymore, let alone the build. It’s insane. The blue collar working class is a dying breed in this country. The tradesman we need to build all these homes can’t afford them anymore.
APARTMENT.....THEY WANT A HOUSE, NOT APARTMENT
You will own nothing and be happy. Klaus is deep in them
I'm a plumber in NH. I plumb an install plumbing and heat in 2-4 bathroom homes. Builders I work for finish a new house every 13-19 weeks. In small town NH. You have to many people making money of government administration in Canada.

I like how the Government now thinks it's up to them to build houses! Like when in the HELL did that change. Just take TAXES away from home builders and companies that make homes like concrete guys, plumbing guys and electrical etc. Government building houses is like asking a cake maker to build a rocket ship for space.
Agreed, government is a burocratic soup where all the $$ disappear.
Contractors will be lined up around the corner for the work if the government is going to hand out billions. As usual, it will be the taxpayers who will lose because most of the money will be skimmed and extorted by Liberal cronies before one home is even built.

So, the IMBY home costs $150K? the rent received on the home is $1000. Is this new math or something? It’ll take over 10 years to recoup your initial investment. There is no way that tiny 12’x 40’ home should cost $150K to build. While I applaud IMBY for trying to find solutions to the homelessness problem, the issue is how expensive it is to build in the first place.
There's places in the US and around the world where buildings are made from literal Lego Blocs filled with cement or some houses are built from massive 3D printers in a day.
I want to build a place in cottage country but have totally given up. Its impossible to get the permits and investigations required to pass all the government red tape. This government needs to go.

It should be as simple as that, those bunkies are the same solution im talking about. Its more cabin like vs tiny house but really the same thing.

In some ways, these apartments they want created, are more like prisons.
You really think today's young Canadian couple raised on Tik Tok and video games is capable of building a tiny house?
If the government gets involved with Tiny Homes, they will end up costing more than a regular home. They’ll pay their carpenters, site managers, cleaners, window installers, carpet installers, paperwork employees etc. ALL $85 an hour. And… they will take years to actually make, train, DEI, manufacture these - what should be simple - homes. We need LESS involvement with the government. We need results!!!
As a builder I can assure you that the drywall and insulation for your tiny house would be more than $15000, the lumber is probably another $15000, the cost of less than a 1/4 acre in my area is almost $300000. We need $330000 in Kincardine for a bare bones tiny home with no foundation or appliances. My apartment is 600 sq/ft and the rent for a new tenant is $1500/ month. Home ownership is a thing of the past in my area.
Canada has the most restrictive and abusive housing policies in the G20, all of it based on government overreach and greed! Corruption is so embedded in Canada that there’s no chance for it to EVER recover!!!
150k doesn’t go that far. Keep in mind you have to get water and sewer to it. That requires landscaping. Then the price of materials is insane
The land developer takes care of all that. It is definitely added to the cost of the house.
I wonder how many of these people who are placed in these $800K houses can afford the property taxes on top of the mortgage and utilities?
@@-FreeAlberta- that’s really hard to say

If Canadians have learned anything, it’s that we should have voted Quebec out years ago, and we definitely need to NOW!
I don't think Fraser was expecting such a well educated interviewer to be asking these questions. They're used to the cut and paste "what are you guys going to do" question that sets the stage to brag.
She brought up some very good points!
I’m from what I call the “sucker generation” that voted for Trudeau en masse in our first eligible election as freshly graduated kids, children really. Housing affordability for the middle class was a clearly growing issue before Trudeau got elected. He knew this, and campaigned on it. We fell for it. It’s been a decade. We went through college and university, got our careers, saved our money, budgeted, did everything we were supposed to do. Now, we’ll be lucky if we can secure a 1 bedroom apartment. What do you think that does to a generations psyche? This is far from just a housing issue. When people don’t have a place to live and the future prospects of ever owning a standard family-sized home are unexplainably out of reach for an entire generation that did everything right, what do you think their outlook on life is? I, for one, will absolutely never vote Liberal again in my entire life. The fact that this party is still even trying to salvage their reputation and election prospects is pathetic. It’s over. They failed so catastrophically. They must think we have the memory of a goldfish. Even if the Conservatives MIGHT not fix it, we certainly know the Liberals will actively make it worse while pretending to care.
Life in prison for all members of WEF.
Canada builds 240,000 houses per year, and they can barely keep up, lack of tradesman and to many regulations on the forest industry, keeping production down
They just want our money
ella grace trudeau "they just want your money"!!!!!
Why don't the conservatives show exactly who is receiving the carbon tax funds? EXACTLY who is receiving the funds? WEF? Elite corporations? What Schemes are they paying for? Seems this would explain a lot to the Canadian people
They don't want home ownership hence building of apartments
Smell like lies
What a huge pile of BS
We are trying to build a shop and a single family home ,holy sh** the red tape is Ridiculous it has been almost a year still dealing with it
Don't let them trick us into asking for "Tiny Homes". That's the new standard that we'll be STUCK with.
Cost of house.. not the land purchase, not the sewer and watrer hook up etc.. so many costs are not revealed in the $150,000. Need building permit, it goes on...
Tax dollars well wasted.
My wife and I have been talking about tiny home communities for years!
This housing crisis is absolutely outrageous! I never imagined how hard it would be for us as a couple to find somewhere to live. We are pretty much trapped by the rental market, this month we legitimately had to choose between bills and groceries which bills won out because you can’t live without heat and electricity or our vehicle. We do have access to the food bank but even with two full incomes we can’t live comfortably.
I've got a housing strategy : What about not taxing me and letting me decide what i want, where i want, when i want ?
FJT
Before covid a roll of 14/2 electrical wire commonly used in houses was worth $50 its now selling at $200
and 14/3 for $300 prices have quadruple.
Too much math for Fraser 😂
Before COVID I was charging 12 to 15 thousand to wire a house now it's 30 to 35 thousand an ark breaker use to be 45 now 95
I saw romex here in interior BC at Costco around $140 for 250 foot roll.😊
1000 a month for a one bedroom is still very expensive and unaffordable, imo. If this is the price of tiny homes, they will not be a solution.
They could use containers, much cheaper..
The WHOLE LIBERAL GANG should be in jail for corruption and incompetence!!!
FIRST AND FORMOST, They need to remove the red tape,.
They need to incentivize homeowners to build their own homes, they can use prefab kits and similar products, and they need to incentivize carpentry in colleges for new home builders. New contractors that work for kit homes. kit homes can be any size in square feet and have multiple floor plans depending on the house. GET RID OF THE, BEURACRACY.
Make it themselves? lol better increase the hospital beds as you’re going to have major injuries having all these unqualified people attempting to build houses
"(government) housing has become a great source of income for the Liberals..." WOOOOOOOOOW
It’s not so much what happens to us that matters; it’s how we react to those experiences that truly matter. As heartbreaking as losing your old channel was - you’ve found yourself a fail-safe solution to never have that happen again. I can’t even imagine how gut wrenching that must have been. You’re doing awesome and I’m loving watching your channel grow!! You deserve it!
Fraser spoke of "young people like me ?" He's going to be 40 in less than 2 months.
