Note I did a poor job of explaining why tiny houses:
The reason I'm suggesting the tiny houses is not because I think that's what everyone should live in but we can only solve this 1 of 2 ways with a deficit of 7 million homes in 5 years.
1: Stop immigration 100% and kick out 3 million people which no government will do.
2: Stop immigration and drastically ramp up housing construction to provide an additional 4 million units to get back to level demand.
If a builder can build one 4000sq ft house or six tiny houses 600 sq ft with the same time that'll solve the probelm 6 times faster. After the demand stabilizes then people can upgrade to full sized houses and the tiny houses can be used for students which is why they should be built around colleges and universities to plan for this.
The tiny houses would be a splint in the broken housing system to get us back to normal life.

Where I can appreciate your idea and I think it has merit. It’s not a simple as putting a little bit of concrete down for a foundation. Excavation, water, sewer, power, heat… there is an awful lot of preparation for any home build.

Yes not everyone can appreciate a tiny home, but there are a lot who would. I've seen articles where people are living in one on their own land, I believe in BC and the "authorities" come along saying it's illegal. Regulations need to lighten up on having your own choice..the beurocracy, right. Instead of trailer parks, tiny homes. The liberals are throwing money..our money!..at everything that won't work for anyone but them. What was Feakland at?..some mobile home company making announcements and doing another liberal photo op in a hard hat, about building full size mobile homes.
There are a lot of retirees and young people that would appreciate their own space and actually owning it. Having space for a garden or bird feeders, a dog, or parking..perfect..and their own. Even rental options as a stepping stone to purchasing something bigger later on. There's also a lot to be said about living a minimalist lifestyle. And yes, it would absolutely help the housing crisis! Whether it's a first time home owner purchasing one or a current home owner or renter who wants to move to a smaller space, it opens up their place for a family or someone not interested in a smaller home. A million times better than the back seat of a car or a tent!

The IMBY House in Hamilton is wired into the main dwelling, as there was No Hydro Meter on the outside Wall. Tieing in Water n Sewer is simple! This house should never of had 12' Ceilings unless Sleeping Lofts were going to be built, as it's a waste of Heating energy! @ $150 K it's also way overpriced. If it was built on an Insulated Slab, Hot Water Heating could be used simply by using a Small 15 Gallon HoT Water Tank! A Boiler Contractor told me I could Heat my 700³ square foot House with a 20 Gallon electric HoT Water Heater! This IMBY House is only 480³ square feet! More south facing Windows would also capture Solar Gain in the winter month's when the Sun is Low! A concrete Slab would also absorb the radiation of the Sun! 😅

With permitting, the cost of materials, and Canadian building codes. even a tiny home will easily be $100,000 or more. Also, the price of even a small lot is crazy, unless you're out in the country. Now you need an approved septic system and a well. Most young Canadians are screwed. I'm moving into a 26 ft. box truck converted into a stealth tiny home. There's almost nowhere in Alberta that allows tiny homes on wheels.

They are rebranding the trailer park, we had so many people out of poverty until 2016. People here deserve better, I grew up in a larger house and I had freedom but space and different rooms are pertinent in preventing depression.

Furthermore our free healthcare (tax paid) should not be made available to newcomers until they have paid into the system long enough to have earned it. That applies to all social systems in Canada. This is how things are done in most countries around the world for a reason. And the immigrants/refugees need to understand they are coming to Canada, not a mini version of their country. You live by Canadian standards and laws. What we have isn’t the populous diversity our governments have been trying to sell us, we have multicultural conflicts within our borders and that needs to be fixed. We need a government willing to put a stop to the free for all immigration we currently have.

When my father retired, he built an 800 sqft home back in '98 on a one acre lot he bought in the Bashaw area in Alberta. His home was a prebuilt model from Beaver Lumber at that time. The whole package was around $30,000.
That included the shingles, exterior doors, and windows. Everything else was extra.
In the end, after putting in the well, the weepers and the utilities, the total cost of the house, including the lot, was around $150,000.
It took him 1 year to build it. He even put in a wood cook stove and used it to heat the house. He built a large deck off the back to sit and watch the lake in the morning when he drank his coffee. He's an old school tradesmen (electrician).
He's in his 80s now and had to sell because he couldn't manage it himself anymore.

Housing affordability for the middle class was a clearly growing issue before Trudeau got elected. He knew this, and campaigned on it. We fell for it. It’s been a decade. We went through college and university, got our careers, saved our money, budgeted, did everything we were supposed to do. Now, we’ll be lucky if we can secure a 1 bedroom apartment. What do you think that does to a generations psyche? This is far from just a housing issue. When people don’t have a place to live and the future prospects of ever owning a standard family-sized home are unexplainably out of reach for an entire generation that did everything right, what do you think their outlook on life is? I, for one, will absolutely never vote Liberal again in my entire life. The fact that this party is still even trying to salvage their reputation and election prospects is pathetic. It’s over. They failed so catastrophically. They must think we have the memory of a goldfish. Even if the Conservatives MIGHT not fix it, we certainly know the Liberals will actively make it worse while pretending to care.

My wife and I have been talking about tiny home communities for years!
This housing crisis is absolutely outrageous! I never imagined how hard it would be for us as a couple to find somewhere to live. We are pretty much trapped by the rental market, this month we legitimately had to choose between bills and groceries which bills won out because you can’t live without heat and electricity or our vehicle. We do have access to the food bank but even with two full incomes we can’t live comfortably.

1000 a month for a one bedroom is still very expensive and unaffordable, imo. If this is the price of tiny homes, they will not be a solution.

FIRST AND FORMOST, They need to remove the red tape,.
They need to incentivize homeowners to build their own homes, they can use prefab kits and similar products, and they need to incentivize carpentry in colleges for new home builders. New contractors that work for kit homes. kit homes can be any size in square feet and have multiple floor plans depending on the house. GET RID OF THE, BEURACRACY.

It’s not so much what happens to us that matters; it’s how we react to those experiences that truly matter. As heartbreaking as losing your old channel was - you’ve found yourself a fail-safe solution to never have that happen again. I can’t even imagine how gut wrenching that must have been. You’re doing awesome and I’m loving watching your channel grow!! You deserve it!
