80% of troops at the front are now new, and they only receive ONE WEEK of training. They are simply civilians. Hopefully some units say that now they can withdraw because Zelensky is no longer a legitimate commander.

@@toetz4491 conscripts get a year of training plus a short bootcamp before getting sent to the front (To even get to that point you have to volunteer yourself and sign papers, if you don't wanna go you can stay in the regular army)

Just to remind everyone how the West celebrated the night of the nights for Bagdad, when the US sent rocket showers and our news media celebrated it like new year fireworks. The biggest news is that yesterday, May 18th, the Ukrainian new mobilization strictures officially and finally went into effect. This has resulted in a flood of videos showing deserted streets, with claims that men are now in hiding like never before.
Additionally, Ukrainian truckers even staged a mass protest, blocking roads. It will be not only ‘interesting’ to see where this goes and how successful it is, but in fact this will be one of the critical bellwethers for Ukraine as a whole
In short: Zelensky is desperate to use any excuse in escalating the war and inviting NATO into it. He knows the only way he can stop Russia is by embroiling the U.S. into the conflict, and he can do that by repeatedly pushing red lines against Russia in order to force Russia to react against NATO. But there is little chance it will work, as NATO has thus far demonstrated surprising risk aversion to the prospect of facing off with Russia.
Meanwhile, Estonian PM Kaja Kallas says another one of the quietest parts aloud-Russia should be entirely broken up:
it shows the type of craven, feckless, unprincipled and totally amoral puppets at the top of the West’s pyramid of rulership. There are no principles, only arrant hypocrisy and lies.

Why target the Iranian president? The real guy in charge is the Supreme Religious Leader. Also, and I know this because I have visited the country many times, most of Iran's aircraft and helicopters were made in the West and are basically being kept in service with duct tape and superglue as it were. And have a bad habit of falling from the sky from time to time, despite their best efforts to keep them going. This is one case where I think it is plausible that the poor state of Iran's aircraft is responsible for the accident. It was after all an old US made helicopter.

Okay, a mechanical failure is possible. It is also a good reason for covering-up a possible aircraft sabotage by foreign intelligence agencies such as the CIA or Mossad. Example: Using a remote or programmed explosive device to destroy the onboard systems of the Bell 212 aircraft.

The aircraft was able to fly to Azerbaijan.
The aircraft was unable to fly back to Iran from Azerbaijan.
It is possible sabotage agents operated from Azerbaijan which is a NATO partner country.
United State of America maintains military forces and bases in Azerbaijan.

Lets face it : after two years of full out war Ukraine is still standing. And not just in Lvov, but still close to Donetsk city. The idea that the help from the west is diminishing seems more like wishfull thinking to me. Maybe the elities in the west are perfectly willing to plunder the savings of the working class to pay for this war and send them to the frontlines to win this geopolitical game. Who knows ? They seem even willing to risk a nuclear war. They can survive on a tropical island somewhere. I think we underestimate the determination of the western elites to win this war. Lets hope the population of the west will not fight for the financial and geopolitical interest of the elites.
I think you mistake "determination" with "desperation". Western regimes are anything but determined. They are spineless, incompetent, lazy, narcissistic, and greedy. However, they are also desperate. Desperate because they poured so much into this war - economically, financially, politically, reputationally, everything, and they see they are losing. They know they can't explain the massive drop of living standard this to their voters, and they can't explain the lower profits to their sponsors.

I fully agree to your comment. Actually, military gears are daily incoming (main transit through Poland), even during the period of time when "the Republican party blocked the things"
(according to InfoDefenseFRANCEreserve). Most likely, West will extend from Moldavia at once just after Ukraine will finally fail. Kaliningrad and Belarus are more critical but realistic options though. Baltic and Arctic would follow as this area is key. Why? West (and globalization) cannot lose the fight as this would turn around the balance of power over the World.
We are entering into very dangerous times.
The pro-Russian channels all cheer the microscopic territory gains of Russia, not realizing the gains are too slow to win the war before Russia runs out of the war chest it saved up before the war, and its economy collapses. At the rate of territorial gain in 2023, it would require 1000 years (not a typo) for Russia to capture 100% of the remaining unoccupied territory. They've been doing better in 2024 so far, but even at that faster rate, it would require 220 years. Or if you consider the second week of May, Russia's best single week since the original invasion (due to large initial gains of mostly undefended territory north of Kharkiv), that's still 34 years if they can manage those gains every week from now on. Anyone can repeat the math on their own by simply dividing the territory gain per week by the area of Ukraine in km^2, which is a MASSIVE country, minus the already occupied percent.
Obviously, Russia doesn't need to take 100% of the country to win -- maybe at 40% or 50%, Ukraine would surrender, but that still will take over a decade even at the fastest rate I quoted. This war is not going to be won by incremental territory gains, which is Russia's current strategy. Russia either needs a full breakthrough of enemy lines, or to win by attrition. Russia has yet to have a sustained breakthrough, but I suppose it could happen someday. It's more difficult to measure attrition, because Western aid is a major factor in Ukraine's efficiency in the attrition war. If Ukraine gets enough air defense support from the West, it could eventually halt glide bomb and cruise missile threats, for instance, or even give Ukraine localized air superiority, placing Russian positions under threat from close air support, making advances completely impossible. But who knows if the West will ever commit to that level of support.

Whatever the rights or wrongs of the Russia-Ukraine war, there’s certainly legitimate Ukrainian and Russian perspectives.
The global financial system is not a plaything for one or other geopolitical agenda. If we steal Russia’s savings - entrusted to European and American banks - it is not only wrong and criminal, but it risks bringing down the whole edifice of Western (and global) prosperity.
It would be a catastrophic mistake on a once in a century scale; the kind of mistake that brings down empires.

@@hongry-life Good point, I had not thought of that. It was totally burnt out. Maybe someone found the wreckage before the Turkish drone and then made that happen. The weird thing was earlier they claimed the had spoken to several of them from the helicopter after they got lost. And now all are burnt in the crash, something does not add up.
@@cajampa Reminds me of he Polish plane that crashed years ago with 90 officials and parliament on board. I saw footage, made by 1-2 men who were in those woods at that moment, which showed that there were persons and sounds of shooting before the aid workers came in. It could all be fake but looked quite realistic. I still am alert for anomalies in the stories and footage.
