I brought my 80 year old mom to St. Pauls emergency. She sat there with a brave face on watching the horror show in that waiting room. Crack heads everywhere and crawling into unattended waiting stretchers. It was horrific. Leaving to the stench of urine on sidewalks and crackpipes on the grass. I could sense my mom felt unsafe. It's time to deal with this mess and let the majority of Canadians live. It's time for forced rehabilitation. Enough.

How do you plan to fund forced rehab? Do you want to raise taxes to do so? Often, rehab takes several efforts, and people have to want to kick their addiction. You cannot legislate that desire. Addictions are complex issues, and simplistic solutions do not work.
I was in the Cranbrook hospital ER in January and waited for 7 hours. During that time there were multiple crackheads trying to sleep in the hospital and walking by me acting all weird. Swearing at security etc. Did not feel safe in there at all! That’s never happened to me or anyone I know in previous years, in Cranbrook of all places!

My niece is vulnerable developmentally & was in the hallway almost 24 hours at Red Deer emergency. In Alberta addicts get an ambulance right away.. This social dosorder.is.insane

I don't wish to detract from the point of your story, this sounds horrific, however Alberta is not under any sort of decriminalization of hard drugs or any sort of exemption for personal amounts. So "re-criminalize[ing]" the drugs and removing safe supply in B.C. will not help your niece. Sorry.
@@boggola I've worked in the criminal justice system and addicts are supreme narcissists. They don't care who they hurt, who they rob or if they die. Giving a 'safe supply' to an addict is nothing short of 'enabling them.' The Alberta government has poured millions of dollars in to treatment centres. If we do not help addicts they wind up dead. Long term treatment is more progressive. Jail or treatment. Pick one. Alberta has the right idea. We are sold out of sympathy for.addicts in this city. Our city has been devastated by drugs. The dealers need to be jailed for a very very long time. I have worked in drug court with addicts too. Many of them have trauma. Their trauma does not give them the right to 'trauma dump' on other people & create chaos.& disorder.or to tear a city apart. The solution is long term treatments & mental health institutions. If these people can't or won't look.after themselves & they are endangering the lives.of others then court mandated treatment needs to be ordered. I am not a.bleeding heart. I believe in tough love & logical decisions to care for these sick people because they are obviously unable to mentally care for themselves. Their pain is causing severe.breakdowns in communities. Tough love & long term mental health care is the only solution. I applaud the Alberta government for having the guts to take charge of this enormous issue. I'm sorry if other people don't agree with this. Safe supply is stupid supply & enabling. I want to see people become well & go on to live happy, meaningful productive lives. That can't happen if they're high all the time. Corrective medical & mental health support is warranted.

I too sat in that hospital for hours and hours and hours on end, while the rude pompous nurse couldn't give a sh!t less. After 11 hours I said I was just going to leave. That stupid nurse tried to get me to sign liability papers because I couldn't wait any longer. To take responsibility off her incase something happened she wanted me to sign them. Frustrated, I told her to take those papers back where she got them from and I was not going to sign a letter of my name. I told her if something happened I'd personally sue her and the hospital. 15 mins later I got attended too. She needs to be fired. Crappy nurses that is far too comfortable. This is a damn mess.
I do not blame Danielle Smith because this is decades of failures in the making. She's the best premier Alberta has had in years.

Safe Hospitals Act - that this even has to be put into effect is a black mark on our society. What is happening? Singh and Trudeau continue to do unto us what doesn’t even happen during wars! True story. I was recovering from a heart attack .there was a homeless man screaming and smoking Crack all night. He had weapons in his back. This is not a made up scenario.No sleep when you are at the most vulnerable is terrifying. I felt so bad for the nurses.

Please put more focus on our broken healthcare systems. e.g OHIP where I live. 3 mos for some ultra sounds, MRIs IF your doctor will or can order one are many months out. Doctors are now 9 to 5 folks, sending hoards to ER's which are overrun and ER hallways are jammed to the limits wait times 10+ hrs most time where I live. OHIP broken, nothing coming out of FORD on any improvements only seems more cuts. Each year OHIP pays for less and less drugs also. Recently paid HST on an Rx knee injection my Dr. did, $450+HST not covered by OHIP. Am 77 yrs old, health worsening, need more medical but feel scared and lost ... seems the medical systems cannot focus on my diagnosis or needs. HELP... this is BIG one for many of us.
Health care is under provincial jurisdiction.
Not to mention those same people doing the drugs in hospitals, are influencing those who were once addicts in the same hospitals, trying to recover
