I Built This in Sipover's Redstone Competition

- We got invited to a redstone hosted by the one and only sipover. Finally an excuse to build the most absurd concept I had ever thought of, a blast chamber that uses the blast from a wither before deleting it with a hypersonic railgun. Definitely lol, all the Wither heads, the TNT (which can be duped, but Mojang will fix it), and the manufacturing process itself, adds up to a very expensive machine

I mean on the prototech smp thanks to word tearing they built an flower farm that doubles as a barrier block farm, well more than farming the barrier block it just places it, you don't actually get it, pretty crazy if u ask me

That’s kinda ironic, on bedrock edition it’s the reverse, withers drop 100% of blocks and tnt drops like 25%

A redstoner by the of FastJaz has built a fun cannon using this mechanic with ghast fireballs. It’s easy enough to build in survival and is really powerful.

@@Amy-dq2lg IRL those hypervelocity arrows are made of tungsten instead of wood.
@@kerbodynamicx472 Mach 25 tungsten would probably disintegrate too (or lose speed so quickly that you get diminishing returns above Mach 5 or so), the only solution I see to that is somehow using a laser to flash fry the air and create a path of relative low pressure for the round to travel down. Bonus points being the round should shoot flatter while traveling down the laser path, because it should skip off the denser air below the path. Can't make that round fin stabilized, but it'll be aerodynamically stabilized by the denser air all around the path anyways.

Fun fact, your arrow travels at 25,000 km/h, minimum low Earth velocity orbit is 27,400 km/h.
Assuming an arrow is 20 grams, it has a kinetic energy of 482 kJ, or roughly 0.58 Twinkies

I doubt that's 443 Twinkies, 482 kJ is only 115 kcal(calorie) we call it calorie in food, because we always measure it in kilo calories.. not gram calories. And thus it's only half a Mars Bar, worth of Kinetic energy. And Twinkies have 260 kcal so it's actually 44.2% of a single Twinkies.
Learn your gosh darn measurements.

I think this is the literal definition of overkill in several different ways.
zif his arrow is traveling at 360b/gt; that means it overkilling the wither by 20% of it's health.

The NetherStar farm feature offsets the abysmal efficiency in my opinion.
i totally agree with this. this concept with the supersonic arrow has so many boss farming possibilities
7:01 my intuition was: "HOLD IT! That's wrong!" - only to discover, after a quick check in-game, that I also got these minor offsets.
BUT the tnt entity is 0.98 blocks wide, not 0.99999998, so I doubt these offsets are caused by the entity being smaller than a block, but rather, by floating point imprecisions. (i.e. hardware limitations)
Which means, you cannot optimize them away. If a difference of 1e-8 is enough to make the arrow miss the wither, you should increase the distance between tnt and arrow to decrease the x/z offset relative to total distance.
Notice how when I calculate the momentum given by TnT I used a value of 0.97 instead of the vale of 1.0 given on the wiki, this is because the amount of momentum transfered decreases exponentially with distance from the TnT. So to maximise efficiency you want to have the arrow as close as possible.
@@cubicmetre I imagine you could have just increased the amount of tnt to the very edge of when it would explode outside of the water. That way you would be able to move the arrow further down and have more precision.

@@NoSubsWithContent the power decreases exponentially not linearly, meaning you'd need to add an exponential amount of tnt to make up for the distance alterations
@@cubicmetre Exponentially‽ I'd expect inverse-square law to apply.
Edit: Looking on the fandom wiki, it looks like the "impact" given by an explosion is (1 - r/(2p))e, where r is distance from the explosion, p is its power, and e is the entity's "exposure" (which does not depend on distance, it seems. It is what percent of rays aimed *at* you are unobstructed, not what percent of rays pointing everywhere hit you.). So it's a linear relationship.

@Tanmay Jain okay, there for sure is a mod that could optimize the game so even if it takes hour to render 1 frame, it still doesn’t crash tho
@Tanmay Jain the speed of light is roughly 300 000 km/s, so 15 000 000 blocks per game tick. That arrow would cross the world from -30 000 000 to 30 000 000 in 4 ticks. I don't believe the code of java can even understand that, let alone any hardware limitation 😂
@@rocket2739 it would end up having to preload the target chunk after finding the target coords and then teleport the arrow
my favorite part is the increasingly loud thumps of the railgun charging as its about to fire from all the tridents
The way the tnt just kept flashing was giving me anxiety.
This machine looks freaking awesome and also sounds amazing! I love how the lightning rod setup sounds like the railgun charging up when you are underneath it. Keep up the good work.
What's even cooler is that the damage calculation actually depended on arrow velocity.
they really should make withers and creepers drop 100% of blocks, especially creepers, not only do they blow up your stuff but they also don't drop everything
Rejoice, for they actually added a gamerule for that (on the case of creepers)!
I’ve been thinking for a while about making a data pack which makes some blocks drop things when the SurvivesExplosion predicate is false. For example, if you blow up quartz, and it does not survive the explosion, my data pack would give sand (giving glitchless renewable sand, and mimicking actual artificial sand manufacturing). Now I have a way to take advantage of it and not just a cool but useless mechanic, so that downside is a win for me.
(It’d probably be easier to find a way to get a creeper to explode exactly right, or use end crystals, but having an option that makes *more* blocks fail to survive the explosion is cool.)
it would be cool if cobblestone or stone dropped gravel it when normally would not survive making an easier way to farm it than barering
thats a really cool idea, i think thats best way to deal with the falling block dupe in a vanilla setting. The dupe bug is really useful in the first place but is really confusing for new players

I love the arrow. Not technically vanilla but if projectiles keep their speed through nether portals u could try using immersive portals mod for a vertical nether portal and redirect the direction of the arrow, that would be sick
You're so great at explaining the concepts behind your machines to absolute redstone beginners, it feels like most people just skip that or at least skim over the details, but you actually took the time to go step-by-step to show us what each part does and their purpose.

It sounds so dope cuz the withers death makes the explosion of the arrow feel like an actual gunshot

This is such a cool video for a ton of reasons. That machine makes an incredible sound, and does incredible things with the game mechanics. The arrow launcher is definitely my favourite part.

It continues to blow my mind about everything it is possible to build and achieve within a block game. I'm not good at all with redstone so I can't even begin to wrap my head around how this stuff works, lol. I'm just amazed by it all. I would have never thought video games would have evolved into something like redstone abilities back when I was a kid and got my Nintendo!
I love that all that math leads up to...0.2 b/tnt kekw its hilarious how inefficient this blast chamber is ;) I will most definitely make a horizontal version of this, coax a couple of my friends to stand on a specific block somewhere, and then laugh as they die (railgun) and come back to find that all their armour is gone (broken). Great video as always!
i dont believe a horizontal version of this is possible without a lot more work, given how much gravity assists in alignment

you can't make that tnt efficient even with 100% drop rate x)
The point is to flex about how much sand and gunpowder you have from your OP sand and creeper farms.

This gave me a really cool idea. Would it be possible to have an interface where you can input the exact coordinates of a target using different ratios of TNT and hit them with an arrow cannon of this power?
Now you might be saying, “but how am I suppose to know exactly where to fire just by looking at my target?”
Well what if I proposed a system of skulk sensors that could pinpoint the exact location of a target and send that information to the rail gun?
Now all you have to do is hit a button and BAMB! Any target anywhere in front of you is instantly annihilated, no matter how strong the target is, and without any collateral damage.
Please someone way smarter than me please make this. It would be so cool.

They know how to get into the algorithm. This? This does not attract the attention of 7-13 year old children. Even if they did click, the vast majority of internet children don't have a long enough attention span to watch the whole video, which would then decrease his analytics, and his priority on the videos being shown to new people would drop.
Don't expect to get tens of millions of view by making a 20 minute redstone video.

not really because healing/harming arrows are bugged because both their damages cause s, which cancels out whichever attack is weaker so the healing would do nothing. Plus, it's only like 3/4 hearts of extra damage which would save like 5 tnt
Just to give you an idea - relative to us on earth - the International Space Station is moving at around 28000 km/h, give or take about 1-2000 km/h based on the point it's at on its orbit.

Can't you just drop the Wither into the void to kill it? I'm guessing complications in the item collection would come because of the hole in the middle.
Well the main problem is that if you let the wither stick around for too long then it shoots explosive projectiles everywhere that break things.

I was just getting into red stone and I used to experiment with tnt cannon designs. The last one I was trying to do was a cannon that would fire the tnt in a straight path. Never could figure it out, and a storm knocking out my power and corrupting my data made me rage quit for about a year and a half by now.
Watching this makes me want to finally try again.

This sounds genuinely speaking, terrifyingly badass. The increasingly loud metallic sounds that ends up in a climax of explosion, combined with the scifi look of the whole build, encapsulates the vibe of a truly terrifying alien superweapon or some sort of reactor.
