As an Aussie speaking here. Ben missed a huge chance to play for the Boomers this Olympics and get involved with the positive culture of the team led by Patty Mills, Joe Ingles and many. Positive energy is all Ben needs right now, he has achieved so much and just needs a refresh. The talent is there and the best is yet to come in him. Matisse is a proper legend. My big hope is for these fellas to join together, fire up and start producing some of the best in the NBA. Rock it lads and let it rip. Full respect, go smash it!
You have a point, he needed a refresh from new teammates and new environment plus him representing his country might add up some motivation and pride while playing. But a part of me felt that he's too ashamed to face team usa and all after what happened. It's fine if he can't win in the Olympics but the lessons he can pick up on that experience could really help him redeem himself. Such a missed opportunity.

@@mrboast2826 True, but having a mentor doesn't mean he has to be a superstar maybe a proven a Vet/Solid player. The 90s Bulls had Cartwright around counseling Pippen when Jordan first retired. Booker had PJ around during his early years in the league and look at him now.
He had one in Butler. Butler left the Wolves because Towns and Wiggins were soft. Butler left the Sixers because Simmons is soft. When he went to the Heat, a team of hungry players eager to win, they went to the Finals.
Not even a strong mentor can fix a weak mentality. For example Michael Olowokandi was trained by Kareem Abdul Jabaar, but Kareem quit because Olowkandi didn’t care about improving
I been telling all my friends…the absolute worst thing to happen to Ben was becoming an all-star without expanding his game. No sense of urgency until now, he can’t “I’m an all-star” his way out of this. Time to face the music.
He doesn't necessarily need a 3 pt. shot now but his mid range (10-15 ft.) and free throws .72% or better are a must now. He can develop a 3 shot later. He has to give the Sixers 20/10 and defense every night. I'm very hopeful and want to see him play better and want him to win.
At the time it made sense. I mean, he went into Minnesota expecting to be an the 3rd option. He pretty much became the 1st option there. At the time it made 100% since, Ben Simmons is a unique talent that we most likely won't see again. He's just ruining his on talent.
Perception is def different from the reality of things. In that Raps/Sixers series Jimmy Buckets was the only one getting scores because Marc kept up with Embiid and the Raps didn't care much about Simmons' impact. The year after the Sixers weakness for not having a perimeter scorer/shooter showed up again when outside of Embiid playing bully ball inside, it was very predictable to keep up with their offense.
When I look at the difference between Mitchell and Simmons since their ROTY race, I think a big difference was Donovan being unafraid to be vulnerable. He constantly changes his form, his playstyle and his routines such as before free throws in order to find what works whereas it seems Ben tries one or two things at the start of the year then regresses back to same old Ben. I routed against Ben a lot in the early years, being a Jazz fan. But since his recent fiascos and complete battle with is own city, I've started hoping that he can find some solid ground again. It looks really difficult to be him right now and I think he deserves a fresh start and a chance to quietly build back up without all the bright lights on him.
Great vid! In my opinion the problem is definitely not with his jumpshot itself, but with psychology. Would be useful to add number of Ben's midrange and 3point attempts (and percentage) for each season, during your storytelling.
His lost his spirit, also I think whoever is in his inner circle agent is probably doing a shit job, I would even send him to the NBL(not the Sydney Kings though) for a season just so he can clear his mind , get away from this high life/ being lifestyle
How do you shoot 45% FT? A couple of years ago when I was still playing basketball a lot I was shooting above 60% FT even though I am just a regular Joe playing basketball for fun in my neighborhood.
you missed the part where ben could've actually played the last 20-30 games of the season when his foot healed but he opted not too so that he could win rookie of the year the following year because it was an incentive in his shoe deal I think for a couple million or so dollars.
My guess is that Ben Simmons has an extremely big ego. That's where it all starts. He's a bad shooter and the only way to fix that is to shoot more. Instead, his ego won't allow him to go through that struggle so he's just dug in his heels and refused to work on his garbage J
As an Aussie, I so desperately want my man Big Simmo to succeed. He's so talented and has so much potential. Hope the Boomers bronze medal win inspires him to want to join in on the success, and that's done by improvement. I wonder if a position change might help? Back to a power forward
Here's my problem with that: He has rejected opportunities to play for your country three different times since turning pro. Once in 2016, when he wanted to concentrate on preparing for his rookie year, 2019 because of "professional obligations", and finally 2021, where he wanted to work his shoo-absolute horses***. He didn't want to show his face anywhere after the embarrassment in the playoffs that year, but ironically, rejected a route that might have helped people to forget about it.
Ben Simmons is just lazy. He is the type of guy Kobe talked about when he explained why he didnt want to pass to certain teammates. He is probably more worried about his CoD winrates then his basketball winrates.
@@Lefthandrightband gotta disagree... he is lazy but I don't understand your point.. Offense is easier to get down than Defense, especially in this Era. I had a career in 2k19 where the 76ers became a Spurs-like dynasty with Fultz as the starting PG and Ben as the PF. Joel left at some point and they got a few generated guys who also became all stars.
The problem is people were sold on Wiggins' flashes of brilliance but not believing his ability to consistently bring it out. He's never had that so consistently at best he's a good third player in a winning team. But he's never going to be the number one guy in a winning chip caliber team ever.

Really good video. I think another point people don't talk about is he chose to play for LSU because the coach was a family friend, and Brett Brown was also close with his Ben's dad when he was the assistant coach of Melbourne Tigers back in the late 80s. These complex long-time relationships would've been a factor in how he was coached in his most pivotal years.
I just recently stumbled upon this channel and, with hindsight in mind, it's crazy to see Harden wanted to go to Philly even while at Houston. Not to mention the fact that Philly wanted to trade Simmons for Harden since then. The trade deadline was truly crazy this year lmao
Ben Simmons developing in Europe would have come out a beast , because he would have no other choice but to practice jumpshot , there is no way in hell that a trainer would let him play 1 minute without it
Phenomenal video, Simmons in the 3 seems like an obvious choice to me as his shooting is just no where near an NBA pg. That might give Philly a poorly formed team but I don't think Simmons is entirely to blame. Putting him on a team with a strong outside. But no doubt he is afraid of making improvements to his offense game
Precisely. The onslaught against him appears to be an attempt to white wash the failure of Sixers as a team & organization & to protect Rivers, Embiid & others. Embiid being always injured seems to be more of a factor in playoffs.

As a Sixers fan, I blame management and Brown/Rivers for aiding and albeiting Simmons. Rivers scoffed at reporters all year when asked about why Simmons wouldn’t shoot more. Brown called out Simmons once and said he wanted him to shoot one 3 pointer every game. Simmons did not attempt a 3 pointer the rest of the season after that statement. Nobody held Simmons accountable, why would he ever change?
At the same time Mitchell's impact on his team is much higher. Especially in recent playoffs where him going nuclear and scoring toe to toe with another playoff scoring volcano in Jamal Murray is what kept his team in.
As a Philly fan I really hope he manages to gain the same confidence he had earlier in his career. If he gets traded (which is almost a sure thing at this point) I hope he goes to a team where he is supported and can play aggressive again!

It’s a shame that he didn’t put in the work get a professional shooting coach to really help him with his shot he would definitely be a top player in the league if he just had an average jump shot and was a better free throw shooter.
Such a missed opportunity.
like a PC that will run better on a "ReStart" , i think B.S. needs more than that. I recommend a "ReBoot". better yet yet B.S. get a "Format HDD" .

I just read your name out loud and my furniture started shaking
Subbed because of this comment!
Damn, this was a really good video explaining the Simmons issue. Hope he can at least start hitting from the stripe. At the very least
I hope so, he may just need a change of scenery as well. Thanks for watching, feel free to share with others so more can know about Ben's issue.
It's tough in philly but the lack of willingness to even try to shoot is unacceptable
Bros a stripe in the underpants of the NBA 😂 😂 😂
@@dylandoesbasketball The Nets won't make him do it though. They won't even make him play. Ben needs to be disciplined by a coach and a team that won't let him pull his woe-is-me act all the time.
It's over for ben
He has all the skills and no heart. He needs a strong mentor. 💪
He had one but that mentor left and join the Heat.
@@chaolee4956 but that guy Jimmy kinda mediocre too....But not mediocre like Simmons level
He could be a 20/10/10/2 guy if he moves to the PF and gets the midrange/FT shot. He could playmake out the post like Jokic to cutters
Can’t believe Sixers fans considered Jimmy Butler as a third option behind Simmons when the Min-Phi trade happened
His trajectory is flat on the ball, slight hitch, slight elbow flare not awful but not ray allen good.
His lost his spirit, also I think whoever is in his inner circle agent is probably doing a shit job, I would even send him to the NBL(not the Sydney Kings though) for a season just so he can clear his mind , get away from this high life/ being lifestyle
How do you shoot 45% FT? A couple of years ago when I was still playing basketball a lot I was shooting above 60% FT even though I am just a regular Joe playing basketball for fun in my neighborhood.
bruh you deserve more subscribers, keep up the work. Love it!
you missed the part where ben could've actually played the last 20-30 games of the season when his foot healed but he opted not too so that he could win rookie of the year the following year because it was an incentive in his shoe deal I think for a couple million or so dollars.
That part
Damn, thx dude, i completly forgot about that. That is freaking horrible. Woah.
My guess is that Ben Simmons has an extremely big ego. That's where it all starts. He's a bad shooter and the only way to fix that is to shoot more. Instead, his ego won't allow him to go through that struggle so he's just dug in his heels and refused to work on his garbage J
stay on the grind bro and u will reach new heights
A lesson Ben could have learned.
Guy is the personification of “hard work beats talent when talent fails to work hard”.
scouts said he lacked work ethic, and a mid range jumper. its as if professional scouts actually know what they are talking about some times.

This video is so well thought out and spoken so intelligently. Everything about this was valid and correct!
Ben Simmons is just lazy. He is the type of guy Kobe talked about when he explained why he didnt want to pass to certain teammates.
He is probably more worried about his CoD winrates then his basketball winrates.
🚨🚨🚨moron alert🚨🚨🚨
@@ravens4207 facts
He really Is lazy that's why he focuses so much on defense you don't gotta practice to play defense or do hours of drills . He is lazy asf
@@Lefthandrightband Nigga how is focusing on defense lazy defense is literally all about effort if he was lazy he wouldn’t even try to play it
@@Lefthandrightband gotta disagree... he is lazy but I don't understand your point.. Offense is easier to get down than Defense, especially in this Era. So the defense makes no sense, him getting his defense down pack was the one thing he tried to Improve. You can't get good on defense by being lazy.
I had a career in 2k19 where the 76ers became a Spurs-like dynasty with Fultz as the starting PG and Ben as the PF. Joel left at some point and they got a few generated guys who also became all stars.

0:45 Another obvious example of a player not living up to their potential is the so called Maple Jordan (Andrew Wiggins)
*another example of people being bad a player comps
Yea his playing better on a non poverty team
The problem is people were sold on Wiggins' flashes of brilliance but not believing his ability to consistently bring it out. He's never had that so consistently at best he's a good third player in a winning team. But he's never going to be the number one guy in a winning chip caliber team ever.
@@t4d0W also he’s never been able to shoot consistently which was the case when he went 1, i hate how the narrative w picks like that are always he failed to live up to expectations instead of he should’ve never went 1 in the first place

@@helck1153 too lit for your eyes aint it? 😉😆
@@dylandoesbasketball It's more than a fun fact, he's pointing out the constant babying needed to pacify the softest pro athlete of all time.
I just recently stumbled upon this channel and, with hindsight in mind, it's crazy to see Harden wanted to go to Philly even while at Houston. Not to mention the fact that Philly wanted to trade Simmons for Harden since then. The trade deadline was truly crazy this year lmao
The true definition of suffering from success
Ben Simmons developing in Europe would have come out a beast , because he would have no other choice but to practice jumpshot , there is no way in hell that a trainer would let him play 1 minute without it
Man this channel is a goldmine! Great stuff man, excited about this channel
this video is epic! Ben definitely will be improving as part of the Jiangsu Dragons!
The Beijing Ducks will be fighting the Dragons for them
I think he would do better as a role player for the Shanghai Sharks.
Here before you blow up, great work.
Yo this dude put so much effort into this video, u deserve more recognition, keep up the hard work 💪
1:18 did he just do a kamehameha to the ref?? 🤣🤣😭🤣
No Simmons need to be a 4. Small forward have to be able to shoot from all three levels, Ben can guard 1-4 on defense
im completely obsessed with ur videos bro, keep the good work!
Honestly Bens story is so human. He’s still has time to improve his flaws and prove everyone wrong
people has been saying this for years now, how much longer do we have to wait for him to improve? how come he gets to have a pass?

I totally agree with you, but, if I may, there's one thing I wanna add: can we all agree that Doc Rivers is the most overrated coach of all time ? How can you, year after year, blow all of these leads?
If I'm the Sixers I fire Doc this offseason.
yup
Absolutely, he was a failure in Boston until they snagged KG and Allen and should of honestly been fired before that. I’m not saying Doc is an overall bad coach, but he is absolutely very overrated
Doc won only 1 ring with the celtics big 3. That should've let teams know that Doc is overrated
Yeah he should benched Ben in game 7 like he did in game 6 for maxey
Your videos are amazing! Keep up the good work
Shout out to Markelle Fultz for the following year going #1 despite being on a team that finished bottom of their conference and didn’t even win 5 games. I don’t know why during that period everyone just ignored winning and fell in love with pure stats.

Aaaaah Ben Simmons the 3 time rookie of the year , those were the days
Underrated channel right here, great breakdown 👌🏼👌🏼
The guy has a poor attitude & in his own mind is elite already, there is just no excuse really. He is a very coordinated athlete that has the physical tools to develop consistent shooting mechanics.
Subbed. Great content. Keep it up! I'm kinda sad your Fultz video got 1M views and your sub count is still "low", because your videos are really well done. Hope it picks up, nonetheless people are watching which is what matters most.
Would be amazing if you could do some "retro" series.
I vote for Manu Ginobili. Not biased, I swear 🤣
Just found your channel! Now this is how to do it!! Kudos on a great NBA channel
Welcome aboard!
Damn im not even a Jazz fan but i feel bad for Mitchell when someone mentions Ben Simmons as the rookie of the year😆
At the same time Mitchell's impact on his team is much higher. Especially in recent playoffs where him going nuclear and scoring toe to toe with another playoff scoring volcano in Jamal Murray is what kept his team in.
The fact rhis was made before 21-22 is hillarious 😂
As a Philly fan I really hope he manages to gain the same confidence he had earlier in his career. If he gets traded (which is almost a sure thing at this point) I hope he goes to a team where he is supported and can play aggressive again!
He's to much of a potential liability. He could just sit and say, you knew about my issues when you signed me. Who needs that. He's a bum.
You have a nice rhythm and pace in this video. Good job.

6:30 "does this show that his confidence was higher at this point, and slowly got worse over time?" yes. that's exactly what it shows. but it also demonstrates another part of the problem: that he hasn't really improved since then.

Think the 76ers are cursed man. Markelle Fultz, then Simmons, and the game 7 Kawhi last second shot that bounced on the rim for an hour before dropping for the win. I think “The Process” involved some voodoo magic.
Hope he can actually get better. I was hyping him up heavy until 2 years ago. The fact that him and KAT both streamed video games and haven't improved like everyone expected really doesn't help me explain my hobby 🤣

I think we just need to stop deifying middle school and high school athletes. I think we’re gonna get many more Ben Simmons in the future if we keep telling every 16 year old that can dunk theyre the Next Big Thing before theyve actually accomplished anything.
Yeah, it makes me want to rip my hair out when I get a standout athlete being called “The Next LeBron, Kobe, Kyrie, KD, etc.” Like they need to not only prove they’re the real deal but also let them create their own identity and to not make such bogus comparisons extremely early on into their career.
