    Luz's greatest wish ending up being wanting to be understood hit me SO hard. I know Dana has been ambiguous about what specific form of neurodiversity Luz is, but as someone who has not one, but two different neurodiverse variants stacked on top of each other... That moment SPOKE to me.
    And can I also say that I just LOVE with my whole heart how Camila actually APOLOGIZED to Luz for misunderstanding her and pushing her to change who she is out of a desire to protect her? As someone whose been misunderstood her whole life, whose been pushed, and shoved, and forced to try to change who she is as a person... Having an adult, an authority figure, a parent admit that they made mistakes and that they were in the WRONG to do that and earnestly apologize... What neurodiverse person doesn't dream of that?

      @@dencamp6685 to be fair to them, they’re story is similar to Looney Tunes and old Disney cartoons. It follows a formula instead of an actual plot similar to old cartoons back in the day. So it’s understandable for people to feel that way because Luz’s story follows a plot, thus is more complex than any of the characters of Phineas and Ferb. That, I believe both shows are good because they are two different genres. The Owl House is Supernatural, Action, Drama, Horror while Phineas and Ferb is Comedy, Adventure, and Slapstick. It would make more sense to compare Phineas and Ferb to Amazing World of Gumball or Old Looney Tunes Cartoons, and compare The Owl House to Star vs Evil, Steven Universe, or Gravity Falls.

      @jf k Wow. I legit didn't know that about Star Trek. I never was a huge fan, liked Star Wars better, but to be honest that's a really nice message. Humans have a hard time getting along with each other, how can we get along with aliens of all types- all shapes and sizes- if we can't find it in our hearts to accept our own differences?
      And yeah, if you think about it, Luz didn't really "change" in the Boiling Isles as become more appreciative of her own talents. She didn't love herself in the human realm mainly because her mom, while she always loved Luz, didn't quite understand or encourage her. It took traveling to the demon realm to make friends and actually love being herself, being DIFFERENT.

    Luz has been blaming herself over and over but everyone she cared about told her that it wasn’t her fault and that Belos had fooled everyone and he could have chosen any human or witch to get what he wants! Luz needs her love ones and therapy because she needs to reach out instead of bottling everything bad thing up inside

    • @garrettviewegh677
      @garrettviewegh677 Год назад +18

      That’s essentially what had happened to Belos after his brother ran off with a witch to the demon realm without saying goodbye to him. He’d alienated himself from his village on earth, he’d finally made it to the demon realm, but in both worlds, during his brother’s absence, Belos had no one, and didn’t try to reach out to anyone. He’d bottled it all up. With his only goal of finding his brother keeping him going, and he finally found him. Imagine how earth-shattering it was for him to discover his brother had fallen for a witch. The people that he’s grown up believing were irredeemable monsters. With no one to turn to, his mind could only focus on the negative intrusive thoughts and turmoil he’d suffered for so long. If Luz had no one in her life to comfort and reassure her, she could’ve ended up like Belos.

    • @AH-is5yg
      @AH-is5yg Год назад +2

      Wow, Hayley Yeager and Garrett Viewegh that are great observations.
      I said the same thing that Belos would have gotten someone else to find the Collector instead of Luz. It was beyond Luz's control and she didn't know Philip was Belos at that time. She was stubborn, self-loathing, and guilt-ridden.
      Everything that has happened wasn't Luz's fault and she needed to let out. Luz didn't know how to express it despite her friends trying to comfort her.
      If Luz had decide to stay in the human world for good, then Belos would have won and all the friends Luz made and the people that she helped would have been for nothing. Even if Belos didn't kill all the witches, he would have at least ruined Luz's happiness. Luz can't let Belos win. Belos return back to the demon realm to finish what he started because he didn't want to be a failure.
      As for Belos, when he got the demon realm, he spent over 400 planning to kill all the witches and used everyone to get what he wants. When the Day of Unity was ruined, his plans was for nothing. He murdered his brother for nothing. Even if he did succeed, the human world changed a lot. Even if he did get back, no one would have believe him anyway. They no longer see witches as monsters. Belos's dream to be a witch hunting general would have been for nothing. His dream of being look at as a hero was for nothing. He wasted over 400 years for nothing.
      Luz changed everyone lives for the better and she needs to see that she did more good than harm. I hope Camila's words and her pailsman will convince Luz to stay in the Boiling Isles.
      Camila is MVP! Best mother ever!!!

    • @garrettjackson1451
      @garrettjackson1451 Год назад +1

      Well I wouldn’t say she will stay in the boiling isles forever more like she will continue to visit because I don’t think her staying there is the full answer her problems back in the human realm were due to her not having a full grasp on reality and her behavior always a bit inappropriate, what she really needed was to learn self control what’s right and wrong and basic interaction especially with humans and she learned that in the demon realm besides we all know for a fact that things aren’t gonna go back to the way they were in season 2 things will change and Luz will have a lot to figure out and new challenges to face and what she really want to do for her future despite wanting to be understood by others, maybe she can become an author or use her art skills to become accomplished artist. But what I’m trying to say is that there is room for her to grow and keep moving forward instead of hiding away in the demon realm besides what’s the point of Luz learning all these life lessons in the demon realm if she doesn’t
      use them back in the human realm and she can meet other people her age in the human realm that are weird like her and share her magical life those kind of people.

This was a human baring her soul to another, admitting truths they have held secret from everyone since the loss of their partner. This is what a true heart-to-heart is, and it is beautiful.
    Luz's admission to her mother, and to herself, of what she has truly been looking for all this time... that hits deep, but it also is a wonderful reminder that it is OK to want to be understood. It's OK to feel, to love, to be angry, to hurt.

      Past animation shows & movies the parent(s) was not part of the adventure or extremely to the side but lately those past stand off tropes don't apply and being averted much to my happiness in discovering. Sure, he's a chaos walker with the equal insanity as Bill Cipher but he's technically a child, a very powerful child but a kid nonetheless, who doesn't know when to draw the line, and in the process was viewed as dangerous and misunderstood. From his point of view, he was just playing around and a bunch of strangers were being mean to him just for being himself, and thus got rid of them and decided to make his own utopia where he's always happy. He was never scolded or taught abt wat he did was wrong and no one appreciated his powers or who he was, everyone around him only used him or only tiptoed around, misunderstanding his loneliness, represented by the fantasy world he made with real life dolls.

      It is very easy to forget, and its something that NEEDS to be nailed into people's head more- Parent's are People too and we as people are IMPERFECT. Some deserve to be parents, others do not, but regardless of that- Camila did not make the best choice...but she did what she knew how to do best and when she FINALLY realized it wasn't working, she moved to fix it as best she could. THAT is what separates 'good' parents from 'bad'- the willingness and ability to improve and be better. Parent's will NEVER automatically know what to do, and you can read all the books, go to all sorts of classes, but- every person, situation, and circumstance is a different combo. There are only similarities, not exact scenes, and what works for one will not always work for another. To borrow a quote from another show that is perfect for this- 'If you can make it through the day and still sleep at night, you're doing better than most.'

    The most relatable thing about this scene between Luz and her Mom. Is Luz saying, "All I ever wanted. Was to be understood." To me this epitomizes what the overall message of the show is. About accepting yourself and only wanting others to accept and love you for you. In all your little quirks and imperfections. And acknowledging your mistakes and short comings. That shows true maturity and growth of character. If nothing else, I believe that sums up Dana's overall message through this show. And, I hope this world continues to be built on in future shows, films, and books. Because, like Star Wars, it's a world of near endless possibilities.

      I think the solution is not “Live in the realm of magic”.
      Yes, Luz would have a place where she would be understood and have a happy life, but, life isn't easy. You can't just run away from your problems or hide. Quite the contrary, the point of the series is that hiding will lead you to nowhere. I think like the comment above me, that the next episode will apply a Green Goblin to Luz. Luz already concealed with her mother.
      Now she will need to understand that living in the Demon Realm will not solve anything. And since she is so desperate to be there, she will need to learn it...the hard way.

      @Esquivel Paulin Jordi Mariano TDK First off, it's reconcile, not conceal. Conceal means "to hide." Second, what does she have to gain by returning to the human world? More pain and discrimination? A life working a job she has to grind through? Having only Camila and Vee for however long she has left in that shitty town that they only moved to because her dad needed better medical care? The moral of this show is "be yourself in a place that will accept you, and you will find happiness." Returning to the human world would spit right in the face of that. No, Luz needs to cut the cord with Earth, even if it means saying goodbye to Camila.
      Edit: Misspelled "moral." My mistake.

I realized that my mom and stepmother(who’s only been married to my dad and been in my life for about 2 years)understood me better than my own dad. I realized why I tend to not discuss a lot of personal stuff with him, why I always seek to understand all sides of a argument/conflict, why I always wish to understand others and how they think. I understand why I love good fathers in media like Din Djarin, because even if he isn’t perfect and doesn’t know jackshit about Jedi, he still tries his best to learn alongside Grogu and to understand him. I now have come to understand that even though I know that my dad tries his best, it still feels like he isn’t trying hard enough, especially when his wife, who has only known me for about 2 years, after I was already an adult in college, understood me better than he did💎

Yes, Luz was doing some fucky-wucky shit but sending her to that camp wasn't aimed at fixing that, it was aimed at “making her into someone she wasn't". And Camila KNOWS this. That it wasn't actually for Luz's benefit.
    Yes. Camila isn't a perfect mom. And she's not abusive either. But simultaneously I HOPE given the show is TELLING YOU TO YOUR FACES that Camilla giving in to the pressure was a bad move, that you finally acknowledge Camilla did wrong.

    I love when Camila brought up her nerd obsession. The audience knows she buried it down, but apparently Luz had never related to her mom in that specific way. Camila had been trying all her life to be the rock and a role model for her kid to follow, and in ways she didn't even intend, Luz followed her.

    I an suprised we're not talking about the "fancy Hospital" part. That anger...we all knew Luz lost her father. Perhaps it was in the line of duty as a fireman, perhaps it was some terminal condition like cancer. We all knew that tragety. But that anger to the hospital really makes it more tragic. Was there nothing the hospital could do? Or was there medical malpractice, causing the death needlessly? Or maybe they just couldn't afford it after moving. This adds a whole other layer to Camila. No wonder she's both so distant yet overprotecive. She blames herself in part for her husband's death.

    Señora Camila, I am speechless.
    You just had to let it all out right when your broken daughter needed it. Luz’s face just shows how much delight she feels after that conversation.
    I feel like any victim of abuse or ridicule would go to extreme measures in order for their children to avoid a similar scenario. Camila always loved her daughter’s quirky side, though she feared her daughter would not easily be accepted by her peers. As a result, Luz has little to no self-esteem, and Phillip/Belos uses that as a weapon against her.
    It took only a couple of months in the Boiling Isles for Luz to share her true self to her new companions, and her mother, who was completely absent and unaware thereof, immediately notices and admires how much her daughter has grown on her own, as well as the loving crew she has. Camila clearly knows that the Isles are where Luz belongs, and that staying in Gravesfield would only worsen her mental state. She wants her daughter not to succeed, but to live a joyous life wherever love finds her. Luz has made several mistakes and wrong moves over the course of the series, and, with the aid of her companions, she still prevails.
