- Comparing some of the new micro-compact 9mm pistols that have flooded the market lately. I did not have the new Taurus GX4 for this comparison, but stay tuned to see it soon. It actually fares very, very well in this group.

I did not have the Taurus GX4 when we did this video; otherwise, it would definitely have been in the mix. Stay tuned for a video on it soon.
For those not aware, this new category of "micro compacts" generally refers to pistols in the same size and weight class as the SIG P365, that hold at least 10 rounds in a flush magazine.
Thanks for the reply hickok!
Forget Taurus lol jk. Love the shield
Gx4 is awesome 👌got a front night sight for $30 yes tridium, under $500 with 2x 13 round mags 1x 11 rnd and a holster. They have a spring and baseplate to convert 1 of the 2x 11 rnd mags it comes with. Accessories alrdy available day of release just about.
The GX4 feels quite good in the hand. In the store. Need to shoot it to see if it's as good as it seems.
You love the micro compacts! Same here big bro. Talon grips and I’m good 2 go. Need that HK VP9 SK ….it’s a spicy bird.
Every pistol becomes a micro compact in Hickock's big mitts
🤣🤣🤣
Yeah, these are thimble guns for him.
He can make a 1911 look like a Baby Browning! 😂
Lol
These micro compact guns become regular sized ones for a smoll asian like myself.
If you need a comparison video before you buy a new gun, look no further. Hickok45 is the guy
I always look to see if Hickok has reviewed a gun before I buy it.
I always check his videos on specific firearms before I purchase one
Yelp that's what I've done...don't take the vaccine
No doubt
Do be a stupid jackass, the gun you will purchase is the gun that will fit like a glove in your hand and in your waist for your body type and type of caliber and model you like.
It's an absolute pleasure seeing this man do his thing.
It will be a sad day when he is gone... I'm only 22 and I love this man and everything he shoots!
I am quite happy whenever new quality guns come out. The constant cry of "late to the party" is just plain silly. 8 million new gun owners? There's room for lots more!
How was this 5 hours ago?
We are late to the party! Lucky you get to see Hickok early.
I’m scratching my head on this also
It is amazing how many nice guns there are!
RUclips weirdness.
"You won't miss as much as I do."
Na, thanks for the confidence, Hickok but na. I'll miss more. Buy quite a margin.
I am in that Boat. LOL
Been using your reviews to gauge my purchases for years now and never been let down yet. Thanks for all the great content and good times, Hickok!
You seem to be really proud of your son, have a great deal in common and a great relationship with him. It’s a terrific and enviable thing.
He’s pretty damn sharp. Sharper than most 30 yr olds that I know.
I’m not taking about just his aim
Taking about he’s a sharp man. Respect this man.
@Tegridy Farms no. My dad does
@Tegridy Farms yeah I named his bush. Keenan. Pretty cool right ?

You have to respect him . He is a wise man . With lots of knowledge.
“And you won’t miss as much as I do”…we appreciate you always being humble, Hickok. None of us can shoot like you.
So THATS where all the 9mil went!
Worth it
I love Hickock 45 and have done so since 2010 he's the man. 💯👍
I picked up the Shield Plus not too long ago and it's a great little gun. I've got big hands so I was worried, but the little bit of extra weight really makes it shoot better than its competitors imo
I’m a current owner of a P365, and I use to own a Shield 9, in comparison my frame is smaller than the usual so compact ability P365, accuracy Shield 9 all the way! Just a little more bulky and a bit heavier.
They are all so good … I say just pick your favorite and be done! This is just like the single stack 9 craze a few years back.
I love your extensive coverage of pocket pistols. Thanks for doing the comparison work for us❗
always feel alot more confident seeing Hickock45 review a gun I'm considering to purchase.
Shoot the ammo drought is hittin Hickok too.. Never seen him with such little ammo on the table.
Maybe he just isn't putting as much on the table so we won't feel bad. ;)
He's a nice guy and probably don't want to hurt our feelings. But if that's all he's got, it is really getting bad😞.
@@MendocinoButterfly wouldn’t surprise me and I appreciate that cause I don’t wanna feel broke ammo wise
I’m sure he has lots more and just doesn’t need to point that out during these times. I miss the times when he loaded his own and had cigar boxes full of his hand loads. Made him seem more relatable.
I love my Sig P365xl. It's my everyday carry. Also have a S&W Shield and that's a solid firearm too.
I carry the XL. I love it. My wife has the standard and she loves it as well.
@Jon' Ralfio I have not. The only Glock I have fired is my little sister's 43. I wasn't impressed overall. I did like the trigger on it but I didn't like the grip at all. I found it really hard to hang onto. I'm 6'1" and a medium build with between average to large hands.
@Jon' Ralfio l carry the G19 and other similar size compacts, CZ P10C, CZ P10S, and Sig P320 XCompact. I aslo carry the Sig P365XL which is slimmer, weighs about 5 ounces less than the G19. The paradox of the 2 guns is they are close in length and height but the P365XL is significantly smaller because it is thinner and weighs less than the G19. Yes the P365XL is easier to carry (conceal) but harder to shoot well because of it's size and weight, compared to the G19.
As much as I wish to carry my CZ P-10c more often, pocket carrying my P365 gets by in almost every application. Grateful the little guy gets the attention it deserves.
@@neddanson7162 kind of an odd and personal question to be asking don't you think?
POV: You are robbing a house is Tennessee and out of the dark you hear “Hickok45 here”
I think he’s in Arizona?
The last thing you hear before you die is "2 LITER"
This guy shooting is like watching a swan swim. It’s poetry in motion.
Had the shield ..carried it for bout 4 years ..great pistol ..ended up giving it to my dad as a gift ..I went and am now carrying the 43x ..great gun also ✌🏻🇺🇸
I had a hard time choosing between the Hellcat and P365. Ultimately it came down to me shooting the Sig a teeny bit better, and it being Made in America vs Made in Croatia Hellcat. It also is a little easier to conceal completely, which is important where I am, because of the dimensions of the slide and upper part of the frame..
Always love hikok45 videos. Have watched him since I was a young teen
You tickled me when you pulled the revolver out of your pocket when the focus of the video is a half dozen autos! Lol. Very cool!
God bless all here.
I own the p365 and the 43x. Love them both. Surprisingly I shoot the 365 better. It can't be beat for deep concealment. The 43x with 15 round shield arms mags is hard to leave at home! We're living in great times and have so many awesome choices! Great video!
Shot both. Have always hated glock sights. Easy to change and makes a big difference. Still a glock guy. Too reliable
All the respect in the world to you from a fellow Tennessean for leaving in the orange 2 liter. Most others would have conveniently edited that out. Thanks for all the great content that you post.

Did it. I hope everyone will.
I generally don't care for Glocks, but discovered that I loved the way the 43X felt in the hands. Much more comfy than an old Gen 4 Glock 19 I had. The lack of finger grooves was a big plus. Just wish they still offered the silver slide. That two-tone look was pretty sharp IMO.
I was happy to see the S&W 642 come out of the pocket there too!
Appreciate y’all from Republic of Texas
I have a p365 and it is great! I did not like the hellcat when I rented and shot it. The p365 was just more fun to shoot to me
That’s one I’ve wanted for a while. Just need to “pull the trigger” on it.
The hellcat to me seemed to like blocky for me but I have the p355 sas definitely worth every penny
@@nymetsfan912 you won't regret it. I shot it first at the range to make sure. I also feel the shield 2.0 is just as good. I shot it after I bought the sig.
I have always told folks I knew that were wanting to get a pistol for the first time (I am a retired police officer) to go to a rental range and try on the handgun they were interested in. I always said it was like buying a pair of shoes, you have to try them on first to make sure that they feel comfortable. I knew that was common knowledge among the “gun people”, but am still surprised at how many novices don’t do that. Thanks for publicly stating it.
@@nymetsfan912 p365 my go to CC
And we appreciate you Hickok!! Thank you for the breakdown on these little guys
Had a Walther PPS mark 2, now the Sig 365 is my favorite.
In my opinion the Sig 365 is the best compact 9mm on that table. It’s a great Summer conceal carry gun!
Wow this is absolutely what I wanted! I've been looking through all the 9 mm micro compacts and am debating on what to buy. I wanted to see all of them together for comparison.
Go with the 43x I love mine. Definitely feels great in the hand
They're all great but I went with the Hellcat fitted with a Romeo Zero. I definitely want to get a couple of the new 15 round mags to carry with it.
The grip with the 15 rd mags feels really good.
I'm with you Darrell, I'm all about a hellcat with the new 15 Rd mags, an I'm a ruger fanboy, but have XD's to
G43x is a nice size I think. My hands aren't big so it fits nice and is easy to carry everyday.
P365 was my first handgun, followed by a P320 XCompact and G19x . Different guns for different purposes. I also tried G43 and a Shield version at the time. I learned to shoot with the P365, it fits my #10 hands just fine and I feel no need to change, but this is great information, as usual. We live in amazingly good times!
Do you recommend starting off with the p365 as a first handgun? Thanks.
“There’s probably a rewind on RUclips…”
Something truly endearing about Hickok having over 6 million subscribers and not being quite sure how RUclips even works. How can you not love this guy?
Not to mention, this was a great comparison. Thanks
And he can shoot!!
Absolutely love my 43x. I can shoot it just as accurately as the full-size G17 although I don't get the same rapid-fire because of the snappiness.
I shoot my G43 shortie with my defensive carry Underwood 124 gr +P+ in it. Little booger is on steroids fast and is also accurate with that hot ammo. Chrony says it's as fast as a .357 magnum with standard 125 gr loads (1350 fps) so it hits as hard and I'm very confident in it.
@@jakeb8298 and apparently you're not? LOL
All great guns. My favorite pocket gun is my ruger ec9. It's not fancy and is as simple as they come but it never fails and I can shoot it better than my other little guns and some of my more medium compacts for some reason.
Had a Ruger SR9. Constantly jammed so trader for Glock model G45. Goes bang when Ruger went click.
@@daviddouglass7662 have a Ruger Security 9. Keep it clean, shoot it often, and always goes bang.
That interesting i have the ec9 and the only way i could shoot it any where near as good as the others is after buying the 9rd mag for it, otherwise i had to have a BIG target lol.
Great Video. Wish you would’ve included the new Taurus GX4 in the mix, as it is identical size as P365.
I always come to Hickock45 first, when considering a new gun!
Thanks Hickok. - So glad you're out here making videos.
I have a shield in 45 ACP, and it's surprising how little recoil it has. In spite of the short barrel, it's pretty accurate. Fits my hand better than the Glock 43, which I sold.
P365 fan here, did swap my grip for the XL however. It’s an amazing pistol! Also use a TLR6 and a Tulster profile IWB for EDCing. Need a second compact pistol for my wife, think we might try the Shield Plus.
It would be nice to see a comparison including the Beretta Px4 Storm sub-compact, which is well-regarded by those who know it but has a strangely low profile.
Picked up the P365X. Love that it has the XL grip and the slide is cut for an optic. If I wanted, I could put the smaller P365 10-round grip on it to make it smaller. Same price as the regular P365 and Sig modularity makes it the best value IMO. Love my P365’s.
Always can count on Mr. Hickok to give you a honest and detailed evaluation. Well done as always Sir. 👏👍🗽🦅🇺🇸
I really need to stop watching these gun videos, I have a safe full of the last gun I am going to buy.
Me too!!!!!!!!!
plot twist his safe is a shoebox.
I’m in the same category!
A man after my own heart.
You and me both, get em while we can! 😂
The P365 with a Hogue grip is hard to beat. The Hogue has a little beavertail effect and a slight palm swell. It is fantastic.
The Hogue would make a difference in all of those.
I watch every gun guy but Hickok45 makes me want to come back n watch a video again
All good options for everyday carry; however IMO none are superior to the OG G26
Thanks for the tutorial Hickok45, your channel is by far the best in RUclips to learn about firearms!👌😎👍
Lot of good guns to choose from and you showed them and their slight differences very well! The content was quite helpful. Thank you! This is what we need!
Glad to see you brought the G26. Don't sell it short. It's different but not obsolete. I can get mags for it anywhere that don't cost as much as a new Bronco. The mags can be anywhere from 10 rnds to 33rnds. The same can't be said for the rest on the table. In fact, there are no mags offered for the Shield Plus and when they finally come out will be close to $40!
Original 43, true glow tritium sights, $52, Pearce bottom mag plate gets you 8+1 $10, talon grips, $19. Fits perfect, never fails.
P365 is great. Fits in my pocket.
Does it feel okay in the pocket when you're sitting/driving? And does it feel like it's either gonna fall out when sitting or get too stuck when you wanna draw it?
@@DerekMoore82 It takes some getting use to, but if you wear bigger cargo type shorts it's less noticeable. There are a few different styles of pocket holsters that are very secure. No worries about it falling out or getting stuck while drawing. Practice is always essential in assuring a clean draw though.
SIG P290RS. I am so glad I bought it when it was available. This is an awesome gun. So consistent. DAO is perfect for 11 or 1 o'clock IWB carry.
Yes your opinion is very important to us the viewers. Thank you and John for making this video. I'm choosing the Springfield and Smith and Wesson. Shield for holster carry and Hellcat for pocket carry.
Hickok you gotta be the coolest guy on RUclips!! Thank you for the million things you have taught me!!! Long time sub.
I haven't seen a more versatile gun than the glock 26. I mean you can fit the glock 17, 19, 32 round magazine, and magazine drum.
Any Glock takes the Glock magazine
@@devinbohanon7511 Try putting a glock 26 magazine into a 17.
If I’m gonna carry something that thick, I’d rather carry the G19, otherwise give me the 43x or 43
@@JakeCamo I have no problem with the thickness.
Sir, Hickok45, you are the man. Really appreciate your videos, your passion and your contribution. These videos are too cool. Thank you!!!
I love my m&p shield ,I’ve learned to work with the trigger and make it work for me
Upgrade to apex
@@FriedChorizo looking into it
I think the Shield triggers are pretty good. Much better for me than many others. I had to file down the safety trigger on both the Glock 26 and VP9 so they would sit flush with the trigger face. Never needed on the Shield trigger. I just polished it a little and it was tip top.
Remember the Shield Plus has a new trigger. Most everyone agrees it's better than the original.
@@mattjaxdad8693 it definitely is. I wasn’t convinced at first, because I actually like hinge triggers, but I handled a shield plus at a gun store the other day and it’s much MUCH better than my first gen shield. Supposedly second gen was better than first, but I haven’t messed with them. Next carry gun will likely be a shield plus.
The 43X can also mess with your grip and cause you to pull to the left. Especially if you're used to thick, double-stacks, like the G17. It took some dedicated practice and lots of dry-fire before I could pick up either one and shoot straight. I'm going through the same re-training now that I've incorporated a 1911 into the rotation. Only instead of shooting left, I have to be mindful of my elevation, due to the grip angle.
There's always something. :D
Shield and sig. Love them both, I rotate them
Springfield just came out with a 15 Rd mag for the "HELLCAT"
My relative has an ollllld 25 called a hellcat it firecat. By a brand called Astra I believe.

@Jeff Hunter for a micro compact, yes, an I carry a micro compact 9mm in my pocket all the time.

I love your videos I have bought and sold several times watching them you remind me of my people in the Blue ridge mountains of Southwest Virginia keep doing what you do you have found your calling educate us on what everyone truly needs
I would consider myself a Ruger guy. I own and enjoy several of their pistols. (SR9, LCP, SR22, LC380) With that said, the first time I picked up a Sig P365, I had to have it. It has become my 1st choice carry gun. I love it.
Every lcp 380 I ever shot were not accurate. And Ive been shooting hundreds of round per week for years. Gotta agree the sigp365 is beyond amazing
The SR9 is a beautiful piece and definitely fits right in the collection.
I think your the first person who I’ve seen to be LC380 owner. Nice 380.
Love the information and history you talk about each weapon in your videos
I had a Glock 43X and thought I'd never sell it, but when the Shield Plus came along, the 43X became expendable, and I bought the Plus. I don't regret letting the Glock go. No interest in the other offerings on the table. Thanks Hickok.
Thinking of the exact same switch, ive seen people say the plus is signifcantly more pleasent to shoot regarding recoil, what do you think?
My Shield Plus shoots great! But I shoot better with the Max-9.
Thank you Hickock….. been watching you from the very beginning
I love my P365 better than my shield +, but I do carry the extension 12 round mag.
I think I’m gonna choose the P365. So the 12 round mag gives your pinky that little extra grip huh?
Get the 15 round.
If I carried the 15rd mag, I'd go with the hellcat. It looks like the 365 has a pole for a grip with the big mag, lol.
Does the slide lock back when empty shooting the the 12 round mag?
Always appreciate your videos!! Great content!! I followed and finally purchased an Albama holster......3 of them and they are awesome. Thanks again for what you and your son do!
Still love the 26 for the mag compatibility
Agreed
I am sticking with my G26 Gen 5. I have a G30 and G19 and I don't really want to deviate from a thicker grip that I have trained with. Plus being able to use the G19 and G17 mags as a back up is a winner.
My 43x has a 15 round flush mag from shield arms.
@@ricardotorres9764 Agreed ! I have the G30 Gen3 .. G27 Gen 3 & a G26 Gen 4 aswell bro ..Those 15..17…24 ...& 33rd mags make all the difference in the G26 .. Better to have too much than too little. Fr fr 😈☝🏻😎🔫💯

Is that the gun version of "She has a nice personality"?
Nah at the end he said it got the best trigger of all of em
Actually the opposite, it’s kind of like saying she is hot and good in bed. Trigger is THE most important thing after reliability and accuracy.

Thanks for your real detailed and side by side comparison🇺🇸✝🇺🇸
I'm english in London but I tell you this guy knows his stuff. He's honest about what he thinks and what he does. Fairplay hickok
I've got all 5 of the same guns and would rank them in the same order you did. One suggestion though, is to use the Hogue rubber grip sleeves. For those of us with bigger hands, it adds a considerable amount of girth compared to Talon wraps.
Added them to 365XL. Made it feel beefy for a better grip.
Excellent review of these compact 9's. I'm a big fan of and own the P365. 900 rounds through it with no problem. Added green laser to it recently. Thinking of upgrading the trigger to one from Tactical Trigger. Will take up the mush some, crisp up the break and reduce trigger pull to just over 3lbs from the standard 5lb. Anyway, great video Hickok, thanks for your work.
Thanks for the highlight sir. Long time sub of yours and really enjoy the content you and John create. Keep up the good work!
Absolutely love my hellcat
Thanks for the review. I have the SIG P320. I am lefthanded so I tend to pull down and to the right.
Canadian fan here! I'm starting to look at some handguns to get later this year (yes, you can get handguns in Canada with the right license) and this helps alot! Great content, as always :)
Good luck brother!
Love my Hellcat
Me too
Personally I love my 43x, I have it milled for a 507k and a ghost edge connector. However, what makes the 43x great is the shield arms 15 round flush fit mags. If you're not going to get thoes, youd be better off getting one of the smaller guns, my pick Being the 365. The fact that the 43x is the size it is and only holds 10 rounds with factory mags is insanity. If it came with factory 15 round mags, there would be no competition in my mind.
I would like to see shield arms made a 10 round mag for the 43
I almost sold my 365 because of the grip. I put a Hogue rubber grip (and yes - I'm a big fan of Talon Grips) and it has been my daily carry from introduction to now. Yes, I got one of the very early 365s with all the problems, but that is another story...
I own the Sig 365 absolutely love it! Pricey but worth it
great cc gun. Gave my p365 to my brother the other day. Id prefer my upgraded g42 .380 for edc. been cc my g42 for over 7 years now. g42 will always be my fav to cc. So light, comfortable, and easy to shoot.
My everyday carry is a Shield 9mm and Ruger SP101 hammerless. My bug out gun is a full-size M&P 9 mm, Glock 19 Battleworn and Kel-Tec SUB2000 with interchangeable Glock 33 round magazines.
Don’t forget my pistol grip Mosburg 88 12 gauge In that bug out bag
I’ve got a Springfield XDS Mod 2. I can’t carry because I live in the People’s Republic of New Jersey, but it would be a really nice carry gun I reckon.

Stay tuned. SCOTUS may just get you sorted out soon.
@@zomday71 Oh yeah, watching that closely. Truly, I can’t see how they could rule *against* constitutional carry or lifting capacity limits - over half the country is already doing either of those things to some extent.
Snappy pistol, I love it.
@@zomday71 they’re supposed to hear a case about The People’s Republic of New York this fall. I’m not sure about Jersey.
I know where you're coming from with the 'BIG' hand problem, my hand swallows up my G19 with a flush mount mag. I couldn't go any smaller than the G43X it looks like to me, nice vid as always!
'KEEP ON KEEPIN ON'!
I'm still watching the video since only 13 minutes has passed since you uploaded, but I can't help but admire the Shield Plus. It looks the best to me, fills out my hands better, is so comfortable to hold, the trigger is great, and I can just manage the recoil of the Shield Plus the best out of these snappy little microcompacts.
Yes the Shield Plus is a very good unit for carry. I still prefer my Glock 26 because of its magazine compatibility. If only the Shield Plus had that kind of support.
I with you for the Shield Plus, I love mine and CC every day and I have no complaints. Fits great in my hands , shoots great and isn’t to much weight on my hip. Glad I pulled the trigger on the Shield Plus.
I agree. I own a 365, Hellcat, and Shield Plus. I shoot all well, like them all pretty much equally, but the Shield Plus is my top for carry. Feels absolutely great in the hand, with the Hellcat a close second (but more blocky than the Shield’s oval shape grip).
@@RARufus 100% agree. I love the mag-compatibility of Glocks
The bowl on the table confirms my suspicions that you sleep, drink and most importantly "eat" guns and ammo. The spoon is missing though.
At some point manufacturers are "coming out with new models" just for the sake of coming out with new models. The Glock models 26 and 27, for example have been around for 26 years, have double stack magazines and are about as compact as they get.
The "newer" model 43x isn't better in any real sense, just mildly different.
Market analysis reveals that new models create new interest even if there's nothing really new about them.
It's always a big plus when a small semi-auto can receive an extended magazine though so I think that's important.
As usual the Ruger is the best value since its price slightly undercuts the competition.
Absolutely top notch review as always Hickok 👍🔫
I am torn, I have two Springfield XDs. The XD-9 and XD-40 with the 4" barrel. I know they aren't as easy to carry but I am seriously torn between the XDs or Hellcat... then the Ruger and so many others I want to try. Canik...
I always feel the XD-40 is my all around carry gun. It's never failed to work over the 800 or so rounds, it's accurate, and 12+1 in a mid frame... idk, I always feel more confident with it.
I vote Hellcat.
You will love the Hellcat. I still carry my XDS from time to time, but the Hellcat has taken its place as my EDC
I have the Sig P365XL with Holosun red dot. Of the many EDC guns I have this is now my favorite,
Just Had a feeling you would pick the Glock as #1. I shot a Sig 365, felt nice to shoot.
Thanks for validating my 43x purchase
P365 was my first ever gun purchase. I love it.
This is another excellent hickok45 comparison video! I love my P365 in a DeSantis leather pocket holster, I ordered some magazine extensions online to greatly enhance my grip.
I really want Walther to make a PPS+ or something like that with 10-15 rounds. Would be so sweet! Especially if they offered it with an M1 release.
Hope the PPS M3 doesn't end up like Half Life 3.
