I fell out of watching wrestling years ago. I had no clue who he was. But the more I watched and learned what he was about, the more I respected him. Despite his age he never gave up on himself and his dream.
@t_mac006 whats wrong with that? la knight was on smaller promotions with smaller audiences and social media reach. of course there will be "bandwagons" when hes featured on the biggest wrestling show in the entire world.
I feel like CVV doesn't get enough credit. All of his guests seem so relaxed and engaged with the convo. As someone who studied in my Multimedia Production Degree a semester which had several classes on conducting interviews. He also isn't afraid to pivot from prepared questions based on where the guest takes an answer. Two very tippable traits for an interviewer. Keep being awesome King!
LA Knight would have been just a memory, and Gunther would have been demoted to catering. Instead, LA Knight became one of the hottest things in the industry and Gunther became the longest reigning intercontinental champion of all time. It’s great when good things happen to nice people.
The Max Dupri gimmick in turn made people want LA Knight even more and had some effect on getting him as over as he is now and it made him more popular then he would've been, He's a megastar he's got the look of a world champion his promo ability is fantastic he's definitely a future champion he will be a star in WWE someday YEAH !
I really didn't get that mentality. They did it to Big E, Bo Dallas, Viking Raiders, Dijakovic, Mia Yim, Karrion Kross, Ciampa, LA Knight. All these people getting called up from NXT. They were popular and pushed because of who they were in NXT. Now you bring them to the main roster and you strip them of everything and start anew, and expect us to like this new version. What's even the point of having this developmental brand televised if you're going to change them anyway. Let us see the characters we fell in love with and let's see them thrive. We want those guys, not some Max Dupri or some guy dressed in low budget Demolition gear with a helmet.
It only lasted as long as it did because for the times it worked, it worked really really well, so it was so easy for him to ignore all the times it completely failed. Which unfortunately was most of the time
I listened to Wade Barrett's ITR interview where he explained why he left and it's amazing how much money Vince cost himself by constantly holding him back.
I agree, everyone tried their best and even adding maxxine made the faction interesting. I hate Vince forced him to be a manager I feel like it would’ve been better if he wrestled along side the models
It was so bad it was good, but it's another case of "This sucks but Vince thinks it's funny, so it's gotta happen no matter what the cost". Glad Vince is mainly out of the booking picture now.
Robert Stone (Robbie E in TNA) would've fit perfect in the Dupri role, having LA Knight do it was a complete miscast as they took away what got him over. It would be like having Rock and Austin continue to do the Maivia and Ringmaster characters, instead of allowing them to go out and be themselves turned up by 10.
-a guy shows up his name is Max dupre (prounce is dupri ) - the guy has model agency, and wants to show out his models on SmackDown . - he brings his sister to work with him . - sometime later the guy starts to frustrated. -he snaps and say his name now is LA Knight yeah! That is one those thing that only can happen in wrestling 😂
Max helped his sister get her model agency going but after so many weeks of playing along and her barking orders at him he finally snapped and reverted to his LA Knight persona.
I love when wrestlers are able to push and get over despite being hindered with terrible gimmicks. The Isaac Yankem, Ringmaster, Rocky Maivia, Prototype, Stardust and Max Dupri characters would've tanked lesser men's careers.
He rode that Gravy train from the obscure depths of Impact ALLL THE WAY to the biggest stage against the biggest names. It's not rocket science, it's FACT OF LIFE. All the respect in the World to this man, he been on the grind and it is legitimately paying off
I think La Knight will become WWE champion at some point but I think as a transitional champion someone who has it for a month and drops it I think they could do it where after dropping the title he wins it back and has a lengthy reign. I have a feeling cody will be the one to bring back the WWE championship when he finishes the story
Even if he didn’t liked it, he’s still going all out with that gimmick and trying his best with the Max Dupri character and the fans took notice of that. And that’s why he’s as over with the fans as he is now
It just goes to show that sometimes if you stick to it and dont give up things will get better. He coulda quit and walked out as soon as he heard the MMM gimmic but he didnt and if he did we wouldnt be seeing LA Knight now. If he did quit he probably would have thrived elsewhere cause hes talented as hell but its nice to see he tried to make it work and that effort probably took him a long way in WWE.
just started rewatching after wrestlmania 39 and as soon as I seen him I was a fan. glad he ended up getting his old character back as it seems to have paid off. Gotta give a lot of praise to Triple H for making the decision but all credit goes to LA knight for his dedication and hard work.

Would love to see Mace and Mansoor make a comeback because they both have a ton of potential, and were terribly misused. Mace originally came into WWE as a commentator then they took his mic away for no reason creating Mace
I actually thought he did a great job as Max Durpri. It was one of the few entertaining parts of the show. My only issue was that he was more like a manager than a wrestler. If they had pivoted the concept slightly and have him wrestle for a IC title for instance and these guys would have been his lackeys, it might have work better. But for sure he exploded as LA Knight.
Vince’s problem was he tried to changed the character and their name when they came from NXT. NXT is on tv now. It’s not OVW where no one will see them until they are on the main roster. They get their character over in NXT and people want to see that transition to raw or smack down and they show up completely different with a different name. It just doesn’t work like that.
Max Dupri is a good character but not when you have the potential of LA Knight. It's like if Triple H stayed as the Hunter Hearst Helmsley character but same as LA Knight, Triple H had so much more to be and prove than just a silly gimmick and broke out of that to reach his full potential.
Well he may Not be the Universal Champion Roman Reigns. I do like him out side of the Maximum male model gimmick, and I'm glad that it led to more opportunities for him.
