  • CJRB Feldspar Review
    From the Artisan Cutlery budget brand is a knife that's available in two sizes - the large and small CJRB Feldspar pocket knife. With it's G10 scales, the CJRB Small Feldspar has a blade length of about 3 inches or 7.6 cm. The large Feldspar has a blade length of about 3.5 inches or 8.8 cm. The Artisan Feldspar deploys fairly quick thanks to a very strong detent. The ball-bearing also aids with deployment of the Artisan CJRB Feldspar blade, which utilizes D2 steel.

      You guys have been killing it. I had to have the Ria. It is elegant, understated but has a useful blade. I carry it more than any other knife I own. It is also all kinds of fidgety. I went back and forth between the Centros and Feldspar for a long time. They are similar. Ultimately the gimping on the Centros got me. If you put useful gimping on the Feldspar or did a special edition with it, it would be a different story. That would make it perfect. Oh and if you milled out the liners. I’d pay a little more for those touches.

      Same. I actually own multiple versions of most knives I love spyderco manix 2(maximet lightweight, Grey g10 m390, black g10/dlc s30v), microtech ludt(brass m390, black 204p), shaman(black s30v, orange rex45), microtech scarab(1 original and 2 scarab 2s) and herectic mudusa demasus auto hand ground Elmax, Manuel battle worn mudusa elmax) and would buy them again if I needed but I do have others I can't find another but would buy a replacement. But I'm with you half my collection would be gone.

    Thanks Jay.....been waiting for the Feldspar review. I like both but the 'jumbo' is easier to use for me and it drops shut......both are great slicers however. I would replace the larger one if I lost it, the smaller I would congratulate whoever found it because they found a great knife. I usually prefer smaller knives but the jumbo works better for me this time......just like the OKC Rat I and Rat II.

    I love my jade handled Feldspar. I feel it's a very underrated knife. Very comfortable to hold, amazing action and a great slicer. The only improvement I would like to see is a filler tab for where the pocket clip goes. I just ordered the small one the other day, also with the jade scales. If Artisan comes out with a premium steel version, I would definitely buy it.

    • @TheKnifeBeater
      @TheKnifeBeater  4 года назад +1

      Yeah, the jade one is really nice looking. To be honest, I want to buy them in every color. I love your idea about the tab cover! I'm gonna take one from an Artisan knife and see if it fits. I agree with you about the blade steel. I would be in heaven if they released a version in S35VN or M390. Thanks for watching Nithya.

  • @cbwelch4
    @cbwelch4 3 года назад

    I actually was going to order either this or the Centros and couldn’t decide between them and in the process found the Ria that I love and carry a lot. I like the handle and blade shape of the the Feldspar, but some of the design touches and overall quality of the Centros design are just spot on. The gimping is perfect. It is a much more expensive looking knife than it is. I don’t need both. If they put gimping on the Feldspar, that would seal it, but I’m torn. I also tend to prefer other steels over D2, even the Sandvik or 9CRMOV18. Bother are easier to sharpen, less chippy and prone to rusting than D2. I’ll deal with easier more frequent sharpening. But I’ll make an exception for these designs. Just can’t figure out which one. Either way I like Artisan.

  • @cbwelch4
    @cbwelch4 3 года назад

    I had a hard time deciding between the Feldspar and the Centros. I executed on the Centros because Mallory nailed a couple of things. The gimping is perfect. I’d probably have gone the other way had they put similar gimping on the Feldspar. I like the shape of the handle on the Feldspar. I’m split on the blade shape. I like the profile better on the Feldspar but I like the reinforced area near the top of the blade on the Centros which you’d need with that long tip. I like both, but I like the touches on the Centros. For $35 you can’t really touch it.

    I received my large one from Amazon 1 week ago and it was skeletonized. Also it was perfectly centered. But I did take mine apart and relieved some of the tension on the lock bar. The deployment is now perfect whether I open it slowly or flick it and it remained perfectly centered. Yes, I would buy it again and I think that is a brilliant question.
