So originally he wanted to raise a disciple to defeat the Black God (whatever that is, guessing its the Divine Knight thing the Time Sept-Terrion summon to defend itself with) hence why he train Shizuna in that Black God style to serve as an opponent to prepare that disciple and he had hoped it was Rean. But because Rean 'lost' the Sept-Terrion of Steel he had no choice but to pivot to Gramheart's plan to use Hermes and her AF and have her use Rean to train while being taught by Shizuna. Does his Eye not let him know that Rean, mainly his Tyrfing, still has a link to Valimar so he hasn't exactly lost the Great Power completely. I could be misunderstanding the whole conversation. Then there is him helping the professor as well when Gramheart's plan fails.
"Black God" is Yun's style and he spread "Eight Leaves" as an insurance to "Black God" with the purpose to surpass the laws of the world. Yun admits that he foresaw the events of CS1-4 + Hajimari and basically that he deliberately left Rean to fend for himself as a "trial by fire", betting on the possibility of him overcoming them and in the process fulfill the purpose of the Eight Leaves style. During the encounter with Shizuna, she says Yun taught her "Black God" so that the world wouldn't be destroyed- with context to suggest it's to stop _herself_ from being taken over by her sword and destroying the world. For Yun's part in "Star Taker", he suggested the "components" to "forge" the Excalibur to completeness; Shizuna to "train" the mech and pilot, Rean to serve as an "opponent" with Crow and someone else (Kasim) to "temper".
Funny how people needs mod for english translations. If only the official release also releases at the same time globally and people do not need to wait 2 - 3 yrs for official english release. Falcom really needs to step up for this game franchise.
I just don't know if that's really feasible for them. From what I've heard they don't really operate like most other game companies we are used to nowadays. They ain't got huge shareholders investing in the series. They actually have to Budget and try very hard not to go into massive debt for their projects. While simultaneous releases would be fantastic it probably costs too much on the front end for them to do. Either that or the process of translation would take so long that they would need to delay the JP release of their game which would stop them from receiving some immediate funding that comes from game releases and they may not have enough saved up to wait that long until the next paycheck.
Nihon Falcon is the oldest game company out there but also the least greedy out of all companies. All the current staff are fans of the OG Falcom games, the current CEO included. They believe in their local market first and foremost, and only bringing it overseas after it has garnered attention.
