For those of us who don't actually listen to both Radiohead and traditional dodecaphonic music, this sort of thing is really hard to write. I had no idea Greenwood was such a talented composer. He's up there with Zappa in terms of breaking musical stereotypes: A rock and roll star can still compose great atonal works for orchestra.
@@TDederick This is the music made for the film Norwegian Wood, composed by Jonny Greenwood, guitarist from Radiohead. The film is based on a novel of the same name written by Haruki Murakami, which was named after the song by the Beatles.
+AlthoughNotAFollower By your Geogaddi avatar I'm assuming you already kinda know what "real music" is for me: that which explores chord structures, textures, and atmospheres that you just don't hear everyday in bland commercial pop, rock and tv
Funnily enough if any instrument could be said to be MY instrument it would be the Akai 3000 sampler! So I have a good understanding of its creative depth. I made a good living off that thing, from disposable dance crap to more experimental and 'serious' compositions. And admittedly the word 'serious' is probably more apt here than 'real'! My original point was just that we get blasé about music because of the uninspired dirge we are all subjected to in the general media everyday. A piece like this, or an album like Geogaddi can bring home just how profound music can be...in the right hands :)
someone who goes around to grocery stores and empties the bags of brown sugar into the live lobster tank and then takes the empty bags home, lights them on fire and collects the soot to produce homemade tattoo ink...that's a radiohead
Amazing music. Why more orchestras don't play more music from CURRENT artists like Greenwood is beyond me. I guess they'll never figure out how to get themselves out of debt...the answer seems pretty obvious to me.
i saw this in sao paolo , muito anho passao ... truly amazing, the compositions before & after this (it was programmed with other more boring more classical usual standard house/kitchen/garden stuff) didn't matter to me :--) as always, i sat on a wrong chair, but next to a nice brazilean woman, we talked, you know how these things go, took a cab afterwards, drove along the coastline & kissed passionately ... but eeh ... can't seem to find more info on the concerto, was in a big opera building ... help ! somebody falla portugues ?
Yeah. You can also look for There Will Be Blood. It is also his, and other pieces, such as 48 responses to Polymorphia, Popcorn Superhet Receiver and so on
It's the soundtrack for a film released in 2011. The film itself is an adaptation of a popular novel called 'Norwegian wood' by Haruki Murakami. Norwegian wood is also a song by the Beatles which is the reason for the book's title.
I could literally see this as another piece of pyramid song by radiohead. johnny wrote well . Imagine what thoms lyrics would be? just amazing. almost sounds like it could be something for the matrix.

@hardcore7848 true
Jonny Greenwood did not use dodecaphony in this music.
@@Amir_Maratovich i wrote that 10 years ago I have no clue, was probably just using dodecaphonic as a catch all term for atonal music

you might be Radiohead fan if: you come to watch a video of Johnny Greenwood's music being played by orchestra
I thought Norwegian Wood was written by The Beatles

Is it weird that i got into radiohead after listening to jonny greenwood scores
JG incredible. The universe opens up at 4:49 minutes
man those high frequencies in the hall twinkle like nothing else
Some of those chords are diabolical!
I read the book and I haven't watched the film yet. But I have never thought that JONNY GREENWOOD COMPOSED THE SOUNDTRACK OF THIS FILM.
one of my favourite soundtracks! wonderful music
Agree! :))
this man is a truly genius
it's from the score greenwood wrote for the movie of the same name, in case you were wondering.
thanks
I wonder if Jonny was influenced by Mahler. The main melody of the song sounds like something out of Mahler's 10th.
Getting a bit sick of Thom Yorke stealing all the spotlight these days. This man is a true genius!
Holy shit, how have I only just seen this!
Pure Genius
THIS IS GORGEOUS
Jaw on the floor! Sometimes we forget what real music can really do

Obrigado Paulo!! Fiquei super feliz de conhecer a belíssima musica do Jonny Greenwood fora do Radiohead

Because they are not writing for orchestras.
Play "overtones" after this. It's charming
esto es hermoso …mas razones para amar a Jonny xD
Amazing

Hell yeah man, that shit is a collectors item.
Muito obrigado!

Does anyone know if there's a pdf version of the score anywhere? I need it so bad!
does anybody know where I can find the full score?
It is.
if jonny was pooping in paper bags, I would be in line to buy
The file got deleted... Could someone up the link again? Thanks!
You are a funny man,...
It is Jonny Greenwood from Radiohead. He wrote the piece.
But he did not arrange it for the orchestra,or am I mistaken?
thanks mom
because I care about you son...
were did he play?
Jonny is in that audience. I spy anyone?
Jonny high as fuck, writing like Penderecki and shit :3

+Remei Agulles Simó polymorphia is penderecki not jonny
Yes, I know. Jonny composed '48 Responses to Polymorphia' inspired by Penderecki's 'Polymorphia'

That akward moment when you thhought it was the beatles song :S

Lots of diablo en musica in this peice. He would've been burnt at the stake 200 years ago.
I could literally see this as another piece of pyramid song by radiohead. johnny wrote well . Imagine what thoms lyrics would be? just amazing. almost sounds like it could be something for the matrix.
So this has nothing to do with The Beatles, I realize about six minutes in waiting to hear the melody of a Rubber Soul song...
Oh it is related to the Beatles. This is a soundtrack for a film which was an adaptation of a book that took the Beatles song as its title.
4:47 - 6:36 paralyzed me
The awkward moment when you though it was Jonny Greenwood from Radiohead
It is. he composed this piece.
That akward moment when you realize that it really is and that this guy is extremely talented in whatever he does!
Ewwww!!!!
