On this day, 10/02/24, DAILY TAPS at the National WWI Memorial in Washington, D.C. honors Cpl. John F. Ahrens, 9th Infantry, 2nd Division, KIA in 1918 in the Argonne Forest. He is the namesake of Salamanca, NY VFW post 5296.
