    Will you look at those stands? You couldn't squeeze another soul into the colosseum. And those iconic and gorgeous paint schemes. Best NASCAR years.

      I love these old NASCAR fans that insist NASCAR is dying they clearly haven't looked at the stands this year packed house every week and last year was pretty much the same in the air before that I wouldn't do a few races that were absolutely packed NASCAR as is not dying contrary to the mouth running it's actually made a huge popularity return NASCAR did not die

      A resurgence surely is due to happen however it requires a more global face and for the tracks to be more a tourist attraction that can appeal to fans who travel across oceans to see. I also think long time fans need to be more interested in local tracks. But I surely am outspoken since I live in the mid Atlantic states area and am unaware of grassroots racing in south or heartland.

      Drivers like Daniel Suarez are great for purpose of marketing to Latin countries… and owners like Michael Jordan and Pitbull show that there is potential in urban pop culture markets. I feel NASCAR is still adapting to the fan base change and I believe there will be races in future with attendance such as this race. Like the fans that would have been able to attend this particular race would surely be significantly older today… and most of the current drivers would have been too young to remember this if they could attend 😅 this said….I believe the young drivers are what took away the draw that caused nascar to grow previously… sure it’s nice to maintain long time fans by keeping the old families involved (ie chase Elliot or even Hudson burton) but it was drivers like harry gant or even dale sr. who made fans connect more with their favorite driver because he could be looked up to… before like 1997-1998, drivers were in their 30s being rookies and that showed common fans, he had earned it, now it’s just a young kid who gets in $100,000+ car and that doesn’t appeal to me as working class guy… I’m not sure if others feel this way

      Resurgence my ass. Nascar removed stands to make it look better at many tracks. Try sitting at turn 4 or turn 2 at Charlotte, or the back stretch at Daytona, you can't they took them away. Not saying Nascar is currently dogshit like others, but to compare it to the golden area is plain sacrilege.

      Yes. By the numbers Rusty was Jeff biggest rival. Wins, laps lead, 1st and 2nd's to each other, getting into each on track, Ford vs Chevy, etc. The only out liar was championships, but Rusty was always notorious for going for a win and wrecking, instead of settling for a top 5. He did that his entire career.

    • @ChuckRussell87
      @ChuckRussell87 2 года назад +2

      @@chrispennington6890 I mean yeah, I am still a fan and still watch (have watched since 1993), but TV numbers used to be significantly higher. It wasn't hard to top 10+ million viewers in a given race years ago. Fans in the stands are great to see, but only count as a small portion of revenue for the tracks and sport overall, so less fans isn't really hurting financially as much as atmospherically. It's just more fun to see/hear a ton of fans than not as many. Glad to see more people actually going to the races this season.

Nascar Cup Champions : Kevin Harvick , Kurt Busch , Joey Logano , Kyle Busch , Jimmie Johnson , Martin Truex jr , Brad Keslowski . Other drivers with 10 or more years include : Denny Hamlin , Stinkhouse , Bowyer , Almirola . There is a good youth movement coming up but its Bill Elliots kid Chase , Dave Blaneys kid Ryan . Erik Jones is in his 3rd year . Ryan Blaney and Chase Elliott are both in thier 4th and 5th years . HYUNDAI in NASCAR would be great way to reattempt gaining attraction in Asia. Similar to the race in Motegi in late 90s, an Exhibition race in S. Korea could be a great way to attract new fans and can have assured attendance by the fan base of the American soldiers stationed there. Be a good reminder of home for them and could attract new American fans from the American military population. Hey, most people are amazed when they first watch a race, imagine if the North Korean leader was invited and enjoyed the spectacle…. Ok, that’s a bit of a stretch 😅 but something like this hasn’t been attempted since late 90s and is worth trying. Anyone have any thoughts?

It was somewhat like the racing of old, not to the point like this was but drivers could move through the field and Chevrolets were competitive. I just want some sports or entertainment, its bad enough that places are shut down but we don't have any sports either.

      Heat racing ruined Nascar. So did politics and safety regulations. The Daytona 500 last year was a snoozefest. I dont understand how it's a 500 anymore if they divide the race in like 12 heats. Feels like im watching dirt bike racing or something

    I've never understood why... If ur a lap car, and off the pace, why are u going to run in the bottom lane so the leaders have to pass u on the outside? U should automatically know that's gonna affect the outcome of the race, especially when the bottom is the preferred groove. When i raced, and if I was having a bad race and the leaders were coming up behind me to lap, no matter if it was 3 laps to go, or 20 lapz to go, I got out of the preferred groove to let the leaders by. Most short tracks the preferred groove is right around the bottom, so at least run in there 2nd land and give the leaders the bottom. Ridiculousness

      If you are referring to the restarts it used to be the rule that lead lap cars are on the outside, cars down laps get the inside so lap down cars can get back onto the lead lap.

    • @trecooledge1326
      @trecooledge1326 4 года назад

      @@PaperBanjo64 no, I know that was that rule. I'm talking about on the last lap Rusty has to pass Jimmy Spencer on the outside coming off turn 2. I've just always wondered why lapped down cars think it's better to make the lead lap cars at the end of the race, especially the leaders, if you're going to let them pass you, why make them pass you on the outside. You know it would be better for the leaders to pass you on inside.

    Jimmy Spencer was a menace that day. Ruined Rustys chance at a win. Cool seeing Steve Grissom, Chad Little run in the top ten. Those paint schema were a thing of beauty.

      Lol. Jimmy Spencer and Kurt Busch a few years after this would make a damn good rivalry. Kurt Busch found out quickly that Jimmy Spencer was the guy that didn't forget !!! Lol.

    Hey kiddies. This year of racing had a thing called "RULES".
    You know, the same kind of rules that would have had Kyle Bush, Brad K, and Joey banned from Nascar after the crap they pulled in Nascar.
    And also would've had Kyle Bush as a ONE time champion.
