      @KenV62 6 месяцев назад +3

      Yup. Grace did not sing on the album or part of the group due to her dealing with personal issues at the time of recording. She formally rejoined the band soon after, and was there during their new albums, and name change to just Starship. Her appearance in this American Bandstand show was not too long after the album was already long out. Grace's voice would have been a nice addition to the entire album though.

    My band covered this song back in 1979-81. Then, about 10 years ago, I saw him live at the Minnesota State Fair after the band had become just "Starship". I brought a friend of mine who was a Vietnam war vet who rarely went anywhere except to the same bar every day. It took some coaxing to get him out of his comfort zone to go to the fair but he happily stood in line to buy a CD and have it autographed by Mickey. Sadly, he has since passed but I'm glad we had that experience together. R.I.P. Bob.

    Many people only know Mickey from the videos for 'Nothings Gonna Stop Us Now' and 'We Built this City'. This was the first song I remember hearing by them & his vocals are just superb. He reminds me a lot of Jon Anderson ( Yes) vocally, but more powerful. He & the amazing Grace Slick were some combination.

    By far in my opinion the best Starship song .. a lyrically frisky love song that musically builds, and builds. Same a Jane as far as incredible vocals, but on a whole different level. Not many reactors have showcased Miracles. But the job of reactors learning about past songs and opening up new fans that didn’t experience it firsthand is not sad, but possible if you take advice from us old souls who love watching, and get a thrill out of seeing others react in the same way when it all transpired. 😉

    3:40-It is an out of the stratosphere voice..even on the high range, he's got power...Starship was so smart to grab him..Between that and axe master Craig Chicaro, ( White guitar) they were more than ready to bring a more powerful sound into the 80''s. Both critics and fans loved it--Every rock radio station in the country kept it on heavy rotation,

    You two are so precious !!! Love your reactions !!! Yeah, I also recommended this song, but I'm sure I'm not really heard but, I understand how this works and I'm okay with it, as long as you get steered in the right direction. If you go back and listen to this, and i hope you do (and believe you will), pay close attention to Mickey at the end of the main lead guitar solo. The guitarist climbs the scales to an obvious climax, and ends on a really high note, but Mickey comes back in and tops that by a whole (higher) note !!! What an amazing singer, as you already know !!

    That song is a rock masterpiece. Hahaha, I don't think Grace Slick would have appreciated you calling her a back-up singer, as she was the lead singer on many of the first rendition of this band's big hits as Jefferson Airplane. When Mickey Thomas came along, however, you are correct, and she was relegated to back-up singer! 😊 Check out No way out, and find your back to hear more of Mickey.

    𝄞 Point of Interest seldom know: Craig Chaquico (lead guitar) made his debut on the album titled "Child of Nature" by Jack Traylor and Steel Wind (1973). His playing was so good that he was picked up by Starship shortly after. He then appeared on several Starship albums starting with "Dragonfly" and also spin offs like "Manhole" (G Slick) and the classic "Baron von Tollbooth & The Chrome Nun" (Slick and Kantner), etc.
