I remember the McDonalds commercials back then; they were really good. All about children and families.

I love these old corny commercials. They were a bit humorous in retrospect but they did so earnestly. They weren't trying to be snarky, sarcastic or hip. The companies wanted you to actually feel good and confident about what you were getting. Even if it was a coffee maker ☕ 😂

That's what I've come to love about all these commercials, too.

Because TV back then was massive propaganda - people STILL believe, and they did more so back then, that if it was on TV then it was TRUE, REAL, SAFE and GOOD FOR YOU. As in they have this idea that if its wholesome advertising then nothing bad comes from it. Look at old cigarette commercials, you'll see what I mean. Fast forward today, BOOMERS, they'll tell you about the good old days of TV and life, but the reality is they are as duped into the propaganda as soviets were at that same era. They still believe that TV is real, but only if its their views they want to be real, like Fox News or Newsmax kinda people - they truly believe in that because its on TV, and it suits their version of life.

ya.. It's been 41 years and I still have nightmares about this. Not the coffee maker, the movie "The Day After." Honestly, this commercial was inappropriate..

Mr Coffee is a weird stalker, creeping in your house at the wee hours of the morning, using your coffee, your water, your filters, and making himself a pot of coffee, and then slinks on out like nothing, like its NORMAL or something to sneak in homes and make coffee for random people while they're sleeping. Did Mr Coffee ever get arrested?

"Electronic Digital COMMANDsystem". It's a coffee machine dude. XD
The 80's really had a naive, optimistic and playful culture. And they knew how to sell products to a MAN or a WOMAN. I now want a Electronic Digital COMMANDsystem. This coffee machine will be what little command I have over my life every day. And it will be delicious!
