I´ve probably watched all your videos 10 times and this must be my new favorite video.. Not cause of 4-stroke but Anson really rocked it and it was so much fun to watch a "bigger guy" (like meself) accualy do hard enduro!
I run a dual sport for my hard enduro rig. I have to say, having a rad fan on my bike is a genuine treat. I also love having a coolant expansion tank. I do pay for all of this heavily with weight, as the bike is sitting around 280-ish wet. She definitely isn't my ol' YZ250, but it is truly awesome to just ride to where you want to ride.
Good teaching... this how I teach skiing on tough, steep, mogully terrain. Chunked up in to small steps then brought together in a doable whole. ...my 4 stroke, YZ450 is WAY out of my comfort zone. The clutch and throttle control as well as balancing and using the pegs really help me not hurt myself on the hard terrain of Alcalde, New Mexico
Great video and instruction. I'm sure Anson would've found it a lot easier on this low traction technical terrain if his bike had a regular clutch. Personally I'd be scared sh*tless doing steep climbs like this with an auto-clutch!
Yea the rekluse has its down side but after a month of testing it’s the only way to keep the bike running, with out the clutch the battery dies in 2 hours or so because of so much start stop and stalling, but with the rekluse it can go all day without killing the battery It’s definitely a bit of a give and take
I couldn't find a good translation (to german) on what you meant with "run the bike deep" - maybe you can describe this a little bit more? After a second view I nearly understood: Aim with rear tire, cause your rear tire is the engine=the solution to get you further means that your front tire is going "deep" like looking for suitable points for collecting momentum. I nearly watched every video you've made, you have really great skills in teaching and explaining! maybe you can make a video about the opposite direction (down the hill) and highlight the important techniques?
Placing your front tire uphill also puts your rear tire more perpendicular to the downhill direction, which generally better from a traction perspective
The 500 with the autoclutch is easier to learn on but will definitely limit your progression. The autoclutch addresses the low speed stalling issue nicely, lets you run a gear high for maximum traction on slippery surfaces, and importantly lets you run a left hand rear brake. I’m good on the 500 in the gnar but still better on my 300 with the assistance of the Clake One Light Clutch.
I use a 4T most of the time. I live in Asia, and the usual way we get to trails is just driving our bikes on the road to the location. Usually the guys that win the races are on 2T, but not always.
I had the fortunate opportunity of riding an RMZ 450 for years as a “hard enduro” bike. It was the best training bike possible, anything is better than that! 😂
Love seeing the 4t I’m running the Sherco 3004t with rekluse and I love it on single track but when I get into hard enduro situations the rekluse is great so u don’t flameout going that slow but it’s also hindering when trying to get that front end up or when it wants to roll backwards. I’ll take the hindrance over the flame out. Ideally u want a 2t for that stuff but run what u got.
What year? I’ve got a 22 sef 300 with the 24 mapping and it’s crazy how much better the bike is. Easier starting, little to no engine breaking, haven’t had flame out since the switch and more available power across the board. 100% would recommend
@@rhinogames9856 yea man you definitely won’t regret it, completely changed the bike for the better. I got mine done at my local sherco dealer👍 took them less than an hour and they didn’t even charge me!👌 also what gearing are you running?

very cool videos. Nice work by everyone, even down to the videography and sound effects! Keep these coming! I really can't image how hard it would be to do those things with 1: an auto clutch!? I heard rekluse and rolling back so i'm assuming that's an auto clutch in there. I guess i've never used one but i wonder how hard it is to lug with low rpm and also feather the clutch manually. and 2: being 5'6" tall. I struggle super hard with this stuff and i'm 6'4" ! I couldn't imagine how much harder it is to find balance with that extra bit of distance to the ground. Kudos to Anson!

Awesome to see Anson tackling the hard Android series on the thumper... and pulling off a top 30 finish!!! I imagine it's going to be really tough keeping the bike cool when the temps are hotter in the upcoming hard Enduro rounds. Curious if Anson is doing anything other than just running a radiator fan to keep things from boiling over? Using something like Engine Ice? I've killed my battery before in the tight stuff because my radiator fan was kicking in so much... even with engine ice.
Thanks for another great video sharing your knowledge. Is Anson's bike lowered at all? Or did you add more sag? I know it's personal preference but still debating on lowering my 501 as I'm 5'8" riding single track with a few hard sections...
@@woodysrockspyro6436 I agree at 5’8” you shouldn’t need to lower a bike. I’m 5’7” and I’ve tried a few lowered bikes. While it’s nice to be able to get both feet flat on the ground the bikes handling is definitely compromised.

I had a ktm 450 xcfw, and it had the rekluse on it when i got it, other than boiling over and being stupid fast it did well, I had to have the fan running still to keep the coolant in the tank, an overflow might have helped with that as well though.
