Absolutely love my new Husqvarna FE 250. My 1st bike ever, super easy to ride and doesn't want to kill me when I make mistakes which I do all the time as I am learning from scratch. Engine braking is a huge help and this thing climbs like a mountain goat while offering me great balance when it's slow and technical. I am just running around on map 1 right now, once i get better I can kick it up to map 2 and won't have to go looking for another bike like others do when they outgrow them. Great videos, please keep them coming and try not to forget us boring newbies who need more help than you advanced riders.

Nice review, appreciate the unbiased aspect. I rode both the 390 and 430 back to back and liked the 430 a bit more just because I found it was a bit more lively and quicker revving. I ended up buying a good used 430 as my DS/Off Road bike to compliment my 300rr singletrack bike. Love both my Betas.

Eddi Nice " I just looked the 19 exc just there Smashing looking bike alright, for me white bikes can be made to look very Versatile because it's such a neutral colour I think the bate is sexy cause it's white and the seat being Blue and red along with the Blue and Red stripe graphics look really good aswell as the Husky being white with the odd yet attractive navy colourd seat whit high vis yello stickers. I have a Yz 250X witch looks beautiful but because she's Blue any I mean ANY other colour graphics than white would look hideous. But my friend has a white Yz and he changes sticker colours constantly and every different colour looks 🔥

Personally I found the Beta 390 to be a bit boring, probably because of how easy it is to ride. A husky/ktm 350 is the best off-road 4 stroke in my opinion...but I still traded my 350 for a tx300 😜

Good to hear your thoughts on the 4t bikes.
It's time to re-visit the Sherco 300 SEF in the Factory version. 👍
Some important updates in 2019 and especially the KYB closed cartridge fork on the Factory model.

I had the 2013 Beta RS520 (498) and it was the nicest dual sport bike I had ever ridden. Strong linear power band all the way up the rpm range. Nimble enough to ride tight trails yet awesome on a fire road at warp speeds. Predictable steering, suitable suspension and the smooth power made it a extremely versatile. No wonder Beta called it “The Playbike”. From SoCal sea level to the high mountain trails of Kennedy Meadows not a whimper from the naturally aspirated motor. Only the Big Red Pig is a better multipurpose unit in my opinion. However at 66 years old now I need the magic button of the newer bikes. I just picked up a Crf450L we’ll see how it does soon enough.

IIRC the 390 has the longer stroke motor. In which case the characteristics you've described sound pretty on point. I'd imagine it would be a great all round bike. Especially one for smaller stature riders doing Dual sport events that can get into a good amount of single track.

If you prefer the Beta 390 because it's smooth then it sounds like you need to try a KTM 250 and 350 XCF-W's instead of the XCF models. The W's are made for single track riding and the XCF's are for more open GNCC type riding and not really for single track.

The 300rr is a great bike. Never tried the 390. In my opinion, when you're in the used market, look for beta or gas gas. In my country they are much cheaper then the most known brands, but they are as good. Here you can by a 4/5 year bike for the price of 9/10 year equivalent KTM. It's nuts. Sales of new Beta or Gas Gas are low, because people can't live with depreciation

Kyle I just picked up leftover 250xcf 2018. This was a great review by the way. I picked the 250xcf for a few reasons after riding the 450xcf and 350xcf. I'm in Ohio and we have much less open areas to ride. 75% is tight woods and muddy slippery stuff. What do ya think about adding a flywheel weight to the 250xcf to make it more useable like the Yamaha? I'm looking forward to getting it set up and riding it, thanks.

What about the old air cooled beasts? No radiators to puncture in a crash, easy, low maintenance and super reliable all around. Not super powerful like a racing bike, but who needs wicked power for trails? I love my TTR230 for single track and off road in general. I rarely get out of 3rd gear so guess big power just doesn't appeal to me much.

Yamaha HAS TO BE number 1!! They pioneered the modern RACE 4-stroke. I haven't researched the history in prob 15 years but I think it was the late 80's early 90's when Yamaha started to get serious in making a race 4 stroke... Think it was a 400. Then around 2000 they came out with the grandfather of modern race bikes with the YZ426. Instead of a car when i turned 16 I had my parents buy me a bike instead..... I got a new 05 YZ450f. I was about 120lb's soaking wet and was moving from an 85 CR80 to this bike! I about killed myself the first time trying to start it and go. I didn't know what I was doing so I was holding the compression release along with the choke on and let me tell you it was a bear! It would take me about 20 kicks to finally get it started and since I was timid I kept stalling it. But I had five good years of riding as much as I could with that bike. And I had it for about a total of 10 years as I sold it about 3-4 years ago. Now that I moved and have a place to ride again.... I wish I wouldn't have sold it..... I sold it for only $1,200 since at the time I just moved into an apartment and really needed the cash.

Yamaha got serious about 4 strokes in 1997 with a one off machine piloted by Doug Henry where he won the Las Vegas supercross. In 1998 Yamaha brought out a production unit the yz400f then in 2000 the yz426f followed three years later by the yz450f.

I'd love to see a 125-150 ultralight build for woods, something like that would be awesome! 2-stroke of coarse.. I have great news, I just bought a 2013 Husqvarna WR250 and love it! It ragdolls me a little but I'm working on that and at 170lbs it should be very capable as I learn how to jockey it. The hit is amazing but I have to smooth it out some to be more effective with it. I already have ideas but any advice would be great!!!

@@kingcrumpet yes, and part of my point, an underwhelming bike compared to what he usually rides but that is stock, I think one could be turned into a light weight, capable somewhat fuel sipping Enduro..

I have a 2016 KTM 150 SX (converted to XC) and live/ride in Colorado high altitude= robbing power . I have done following mods and the bike will grunt . RK-TEK head, VForce reeds, fmf Shorty Solincer, SC2 smart carb, Tubeless-Gummy tires, stock gearing 13-48. Im comparing how it rides to my KTM 300 / Husaberg 450 and the trails I have rode for the last 25 years . Its still a blast and is highly competent in all my areas . Still giving my ride buddies a run for there money on all there bigger bore stuff. IMO

@@mikevidovich8311 sweet! How does it do on fuel as far as range? I got a 2013 husqvarna wr250 and its insane but drinks fuel, i can only get about 2 hours and a half on a 2.5 tank, is that about right? Im currently used to air cooled 4 strokes that will run 4 to 6 hours or more on 5 bucks, selling them all this spring and hopefully pick something up this winter. Id love a tc150 or 200 e start or similiar ktm.

Honda crf 250 and you don't have to rebuild it every time you ride it and you can save the extra $5000 because you can't run that fast in the deep woods.

@south o I'm not in the market for a 4 stroke I'm a 2 stroke guy. This was more of a if I hade to ride a 4 stroke thing. To answer your question there are big bore kit s for the 350s there are plenty of power mods for the 500s to for the fire road guys who think more power is the answer

You can plate the betas EXTREMELY easily. Add blinkers and mirrors and your done. They even have plugs already in place for the blinkers. My 2018 300 rr race edition is plated!

id maybe own a four-stroke if they didnt cost more than a comparable two-stroke and if I could rebuild them myself for the same amount a two-stroke costs.

Dirt Bike Channel what did you think of the CRF250F? Would you point dirt bike beginners toward another bike?
My wife and I are both a meaty 5’6” and looking at getting a pair of CRF250F for our first dirt bikes. Couldn’t get them this month cause all the 2019 are sold out. We have both ridden street bikes before but are dirt bike noobies.
We’re looking at getting CRF50 for 5yr old and CRF110F for the 7yr old.
Our riding will be mostly in the US Forest Service’s Lost River Ranger District in central Idaho.

Why even do this video when you don't ride Honda four strokes? Ride a Honda then make a legitimate video! Not a clapped out two stroke, Honda has dedicated offroad four strokes and they are the most popular offroad four stroke for a reason. I have two identical 17's for a reason, they are awesome.
