I was never big on Chris Collins when he first joined the group but he did improve vastly before he Departed. Randy Miller was always a popcorn break for me.

So you don’t think we as Christians should be allowed to have fun? The Bible says in the book of Proverbs that a merry heart doeth good like a medice. God wants us to laugh and have a good time.
Not near as good as Tennessee Earnie Ford did it.
I think it is better. Ernie Ford’s version is not as impressive because he is not a true bass. He is a bass baritone and does not have the impressive lower range of the basses featured in many gospel quartets. Ernie Ford is a good singer but nowhere near as talented as many other baritones and basses. He is a product of his time. Had he been born later he most likely would never have experienced fame.
I am a bass baritone and can easily sing Ernie Ford’s version and sound almost just like him. However, I can not sing this version because my voice sounds bad when I struggle for the lowest notes.
