Thanks for the information Allen. I haven't used my brush hogs in about 15-20 years. I still have them, I think it time to get them out and use them soon on the Delta! I appreciate all your help over the years in the shop.
Definitely need to get some brush hogs. Good info on boat positioning. That’s awesome you can piss off your fishing buddy and still be friends for over 20 years.
My buddies learn something every time we go out as I don't always tell them everything as they as very competitive and sometime talk crap! We get along very well and we always joking around having fun!
Watching people standing on the edge of a bass boat like that always reminds me of fishing in Florida. I was in Orlando for training and two of us went out with a guide on Lake Toho. He showed us how to pitch into the reeds, and we caught some bass and watched a gator stalk a duck. All while standing about one foot off the water on the edge of the boat. On the way back to the barracks we stopped at the Gator Jumperoo and watched alligators coming about 4 feet straight up out of the water to grab a chicken. The other guy reminded me that we were just standing one foot off the water and there were gators there. BTW, fried gator is pretty good.
This time year and in current I stay put and let it settle down and go back a few times in the day. I've flipped over twenty five pound limits many of times!
Alan, great stuff. Hey did you ever work at the Cupertino area store on Saratoga Sunnyvale Rd. Early 1999-2000 or sooner my father retired and worked there. In those days we had a Grady and were chasing Salmon and Halibut. But I think I may have run onto you there. I did get to chat with you in the Sacramento Store and get some white tubes for Kings.
I used to go there and do seminars a lot and helped set the store up. You tube just another way I can help people be better at fishing! Glad your enjoying the channel
With all the new baits out there and more showing up every few months, old school baits like the brush hog are often over looked. Great info as always Alan!. Maybe you should rubber coat Denise's weights!. You dont need anymore broken electronics! Lol. Thanks again for your in depth information.
Sorry I don't guide yet lol But I have good friend of mine who guides in lakes n delta very good guide n teaches well. I used to fish tournaments with him back in the eighties. Don Paganelli Bass Fishing Experience (916) 502-3474
No I never fished with him, but knew him. I can remember seeing him flipping with long fiberglass blank with dicron line down the middle to mono and a jig dipping in the tulips. It used to wear my shoulder out in a day pulling all them bass out!
Alan, being in spawn almost right now, you mentioned brush hog flippin best in Fall & Winter. Since we are coming into April, would you still flip the brush hog now?
If I'm into area where I know the bass are ready to spawn I would go to the seiko weightless! But not all bass spawn the same time so if I'm in current then my choice would be brush hog!
Wow. This was one of the best technique specific education bits I’ve seen. Super helpful. Tha k you and nice work!!
Glad you enjoyed it! And I'm all about helping you understand and catch more fish

Glad to help and brush hogs have been one of my favorites for many years.
Always good information Alan.
Thanks 👍

As always great info, thank you.
Thanks for watching!
Great video Alan. The Brush Hog is kind of a frogetten bait. Thanks for the tips.
I got to test them long time ago and have never putting them down!
Nicely done sir, keep them coming!
Thanks, will do!

No gators around these parts! I was in Key West and had fried gator and it was pretty good eating.
I was surprised how long you stayed at that one spot. Lesson learned. I normally make 1 or 2 pitches then move on.

"Thats how ya doo it!!" Lol. The tone of your voice Alan went up 2 decibels when she caught that one. Lmao
Excited like I get ✌👍Good Job Guys
Yea Denise gets excited when she catches a big fish! Jumps up and down after landing the fish. She broken her PB quite a few times lol
Good story about the release 😂. Let them go let them grow 👍🎣
Now if people would do that with stripers....................
That's the plan!
More people are releasing the bigger stripers too! Ten pounds and up should be released for brute stock!

I'll suggest to Denise about your idea lol Just trying to help people catch more fish!
I'll be up there next month. What color brush hog did you use? I have a bunch of them and just want to make sure to bring the right color.
It depends on the clarity of the water but in a month Watermelon Red. Now I'm using Junebug because the water is still stained
@@AlanFong Which size Brush Hog? Regular or Super?
Alan, do you guided trips out there on the Delta or any of the lakes?
Sorry I don't guide yet lol But I have good friend of mine who guides in lakes n delta
very good guide n teaches well. I used to fish tournaments with him back in the eighties. Don Paganelli Bass Fishing Experience (916) 502-3474
Nice video, do you ever punch with brush hog?
Yes I do! I punched a nice bass today with the brushing and it will be in a video coming out soon!
Hey Alan, where is the best place to launch the boat if you're going to Prospect slough or Liberty Island?
I launch at Hog Back Marina in Steamboat slough. You can launch at Arrowhead but hard to get in on low tide.
Alan, did you ever fish with Dee Thomas? If so say something about it. Thanks!

Alan, pitch a jig or a trig brush hog at the delta?
Now I would go with the brushhog. Dead winter I use jigs.
Good content… what part of the delta is this?
We were up north in Prospect Slough
I learned from this video that I fish too fast. 😅
When I'm in a very productive area where I know the fish like I might stay for 20 mins or more!
