Lenovo employee here: It is better to download the Lenovo preload image from the Lenovo image recovery site vs downloading Win10 from MSFT's site. All the drivers and such are included in preload image. Simply enter your SN# and it'll let you download.

Just a tip for people looking to do a fresh install of Windows, e.g. after installing M.2 drives. Use the Microsoft media creation tool on the laptop **before** you remove the existing disk drive. This way it will have the drivers downloaded for additional hardware, then remove the existing drive, install the M.2 drive(s) and then boot from the USB media.

I re-watched this video as I've just pulled the trigger on ordering a new P52 from Lenovo. I went with the i7-8850H as I really wanted the extra graphic power. I actually wish I had watched this video again prior to ordering as I went with a 256Gb M.2 SSD and I think a better idea would have been to follow your example and get the spinning 2.5" disk and install the M.2 SSDs afterwards. To save money I went with only 8Gb RAM and ordered 64Gb separately, and I have also ordered to 970 Pro 1Tb M.2 SSDs,. I'm glad to see that caddies are no longer required for the M.2 SSD drives, but of course they're still required for the 2.5" SATA disk bay, so I'll get one of those eventually so I can add an additional disk for storage. So thanks for the video, useful information - especially if you're considering getting a P52 - this might change your approach to the configuration you order from Lenovo, unless money is no object. ;-)

I haven't tried an active pen and mainly stick to the keyboard for entry but the touch is great when I do use it. No different in my opinion than a tablet.

Yes the Evo Plus will fit. The price difference on the 1TB is about $50 difference right? You'll get faster write speed on the Evo Plus, but you can't go wrong with either. I'd just go with the newest (Evo Plus) if they were available at the time I upgraded

You'll use a similar process to the video, just don't take out the hdd. Put in the SSD and then use cloning software to clone the OS over to the SSD. Change the boot-up sequence in the BIOS so that the SSD is booted first and it should work properly. Then you can reformat the hdd if you'd like to have the extra storage space.

My P50 died and I can pick up a used P52 pretty cheaply - but it has a 1080 Display...Any idea if I can pull the 4K display from my dead P50 and transplant it into the P52? Visually from your video they look the same physically...although the drives are a little differently located

Yes, Im running two 1tb 970 Evo Plus drives in my P50 fine, both get around 3300mb/s read and write, much faster than SATA
